Key takeaways

  • Muihcoro Lightroot is in the Hebra Mountains Depths, at approximately (-1638, 2642, -0706). Other map references round or record the position slightly differently, including (-1637, 2642, -0685) and (-1638, 2642, -0706).
  • Its surface counterpart is Orochium Shrine, located north of Snowfield Stable.
  • Activating it reveals the surrounding map, provides a travel point and helps restore hearts lost to Gloom.
  • The location has no separately documented resident, shop, questline, named enemy encounter or unique reward.
  • The safest approach is to reach the general position through a nearby chasm or by travelling from another activated Hebra Lightroot, then use Brightbloom Seeds or another light source to cross the unlit terrain.
  • The Lightroot is available throughout the base game and remains obtainable after the main story.

Note

Base-game guide. This article covers Muihcoro Lightroot itself, rather than treating the entire Hebra Mountains Depths as part of the location. Nearby areas such as North Lomei Depths Labyrinth, Hebra Dark Skeleton and the other Hebra Lightroots are listed only as connections or neighbouring landmarks.

Overview

Muihcoro Lightroot is a Lightroot in the Hebra Mountains Depths in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It lies beneath the surface area occupied by Orochium Shrine, making it one of the useful paired locations that let you compare the Surface and Depths maps.

The Lightroot is not a dungeon, settlement or quest hub. Its importance is practical: activating it illuminates the surrounding Depths, reveals that section of the Depths map, creates a fast-travel point and restores hearts damaged by Gloom. Like other Lightroots, it is permanent and cannot be permanently missed.

Location and boundaries

Muihcoro Lightroot is a single named point within the wider Hebra Mountains Depths. The location should not be confused with the whole Hebra underground region, which contains numerous other Lightroots, mines, lavafalls, the Hebra Dark Skeleton and the North Lomei Depths Labyrinth. The Lightroot's immediate scope consists of the root platform and the surrounding dark Depths terrain illuminated when it is activated.

The wider regional directory for the Hebra Mountains Depths includes the following named Lightroots:

These are regional neighbours and comparison points, not subareas of Muihcoro Lightroot.

Other named places in the same broad region include:

The available location directory places these in the Hebra Mountains Depths category, but it does not establish that they form internal sections of Muihcoro Lightroot. They should therefore be treated as separate nearby or regional locations.

Location and boundaries

Surface counterpart: Orochium Shrine

Muihcoro Lightroot corresponds to Orochium Shrine on the Surface. This follows the normal Depths and Surface relationship used by Lightroots: the underground root is positioned directly below a Surface Shrine. The relationship is especially useful when searching for either location, because an activated Lightroot can guide you towards the corresponding Surface Shrine, while a discovered Surface Shrine can help identify the underground root's approximate position.

Orochium Shrine is in the Hebra Mountains, north of Snowfield Stable and to the far south-east of Pikida Stonegrove Skyview Tower. North Lomei Labyrinth is also a prominent surface landmark in the vicinity, although it is not part of Muihcoro Lightroot.

Orochium Shrine directory

Orochium Shrine is a separate location with its own shrine challenge and reward. Completing that shrine is not required to activate Muihcoro Lightroot, and activating the Lightroot does not complete the shrine. The two locations are connected geographically, not by a shared mission state.

What the Lightroot does

Muihcoro Lightroot has the standard functions of a Lightroot.

Map illumination

Interacting with the root activates it and brightens the surrounding Depths. The illuminated area is then visible on the Depths map, making nearby terrain, walls, cliffs and routes much easier to understand. Lightroots are particularly valuable in the Hebra Mountains Depths because the underground landscape can contain steep terrain and large areas of darkness that are difficult to read before activation.

Fast travel

After activation, Muihcoro Lightroot becomes a travel point. You can use it from the map in the same general way as other activated travel points. This makes it useful for returning to the western and north-western Hebra Depths without repeating the entire journey through the dark.

Gloom recovery

Lightroots restore hearts that have been greyed out by Gloom. This does not replace healing ordinary damage, but it removes the temporary heart restriction caused by Gloom exposure. The effect makes an activated Lightroot a useful recovery point when exploring the surrounding Depths.

No inventory reward

Muihcoro Lightroot is not documented as containing a chest, armour piece, weapon, shrine treasure or named collectible reward. Its rewards are functional rather than material:

Do not confuse the Lightroot with the surface Orochium Shrine. The shrine provides its own shrine reward, while Muihcoro provides the standard Lightroot benefits.

Access and routes

There is no single required route to Muihcoro Lightroot. The Depths can be entered through any available chasm, and the final approach depends on which parts of the Hebra region you have already explored.

Route 1: Use the Surface counterpart

The most direct search method is to locate Orochium Shrine on the Surface, then descend into the Depths at a suitable nearby chasm and travel towards the matching position on the underground map.

This route is helpful if you have already discovered Orochium Shrine. Place a marker at the shrine's position, switch to the Depths layer and use the corresponding underground position as a target. Lightroots are directly associated with Surface Shrines, so the shrine is a dependable positional clue.

Route 2: Travel from an activated Hebra Lightroot

If you already have another Hebra Lightroot active, fast-travel there and cross the underground terrain towards Muihcoro. This is normally safer than entering an unfamiliar chasm and trying to navigate through complete darkness.

Brightbloom Seeds and Glow effects are especially useful before the late-game Depths progression that provides a more permanent source of illumination.

Route 3: Enter through a Hebra chasm

The Depths are entered through chasms marked by red openings on the Surface map. Once underground, move towards the Muihcoro coordinates while lighting the route as you go.

Because the surface and Depths landscapes do not always offer a simple vertical path, the nearest visible surface landmark is not necessarily the easiest descent point. A practical route may involve:

Suggested exploration route

For a broader Hebra Depths expedition, use this order:

This route avoids assuming that all regional landmarks belong to Muihcoro. The Lightroot is a navigation point within Hebra, not a central hub for the whole region.

Route 3: Enter through a Hebra chasm

  1. 01
Entering a chasm with a safe landing area.
  2. 02
Activating any Lightroot encountered en route.
  3. 03
    Travelling across illuminated terrain.
  4. 04
Climbing or circling around underground walls rather than attempting to cross impassable cliffs.
  5. 05
Using the map to check whether you are moving towards approximately -1638, 2642.
  6. 06
Activating Muihcoro Lightroot when its glow becomes visible.

Suggested exploration route

  1. 01
Enter through an accessible Hebra chasm.
  2. 02
Activate the first Lightroot you encounter rather than travelling deep into darkness.
  3. 03
Establish a fast-travel chain through the Hebra Mountains Depths.
  4. 04
Approach Muihcoro Lightroot from an already lit area.
  5. 05
Activate Muihcoro and use its newly revealed map to plan a route towards separate landmarks such as North Lomei Depths Labyrinth or the Hebra Dark Skeleton.
  6. 06
Treat other named Lightroots as separate destinations and mark them individually.

Surrounding geography

The immediate surroundings are part of the dark Hebra underground environment rather than a built settlement. No village, stable, mine entrance, shopfront or permanent NPC community is recorded as belonging to Muihcoro Lightroot.

The most important navigational relationship is vertical: the Lightroot is below Orochium Shrine. This means the Surface map can be used to triangulate the underground position, while the activated Depths map can help reveal the corresponding shrine position.

Nearby and connected locations

The following places are relevant to a Muihcoro expedition but remain separate locations:

The sources consulted identify these as Hebra Mountains Depths places, but do not provide enough evidence to define them as internal subareas of Muihcoro Lightroot. They are therefore deliberately kept outside the location's boundary.

Residents, factions and services

Residents and characters

No named resident or permanent character is documented at Muihcoro Lightroot. The site is an environmental and travel feature rather than a populated location.

Factions and security

There is no documented settlement guard, Yiga outpost, Zonai research station or other faction-controlled facility at the Lightroot itself.

The Depths remain dangerous because of Gloom, hostile monsters and poor visibility, but these are regional hazards rather than a formal security system attached to Muihcoro.

Shops and businesses

No functional shop, service counter or purchasable property is documented at Muihcoro Lightroot.

Nearby Surface facilities, including Snowfield Stable, should not be treated as services located at the Lightroot. They are separate Surface locations and must be visited through the Surface world.

Checkpoints and facilities

There is no documented cooking pot, bed, forge, Bargainer Statue, dispenser or vehicle construction facility attached to the root.

---

Enemies and hazards

No unique boss or fixed named enemy encounter is documented as part of Muihcoro Lightroot. Random Depths encounters may occur in the surrounding region, but they should not be presented as fixed contents of the location without a verified encounter table.

The reliable hazards are the general hazards of the Depths:

Practical safety advice

---

Practical safety advice

  1. 01
Light the ground ahead before running into unknown terrain.
  2. 02
Avoid standing in Gloom unless you have a reason to cross it.
  3. 03
Use the minimap to identify cliffs and dead ends after the Lightroot is active.
  4. 04
Keep healing food available because Lightroot restoration is a recovery benefit, not protection from damage.
  5. 05
Do not assume that a surface route has a direct underground equivalent.
  6. 06
If the root is visible but separated by a cliff, circle around rather than wasting stamina on an impossible climb.

Progression and missability

Muihcoro Lightroot is available as part of the ordinary Depths exploration system. It is not tied to a particular main quest state, regional phenomenon or late-game story branch.

The Lightroot is not missable. It can still be found after completing the main story, and the wider Lightroot set can be completed after the story as well.

There is no known progression change that alters the root's name, location or reward. The main difference between progression states is the player's access to navigation tools:

No evidence indicates that activating Muihcoro changes a quest, unlocks a character, causes a boss to appear or removes a collectible.
