Key takeaways
- Aduon Lightroot is in the Tabantha Frontier Depths, not the surface Tabantha Frontier and not the Hebra Mountains Depths.
- Its surface counterpart is Nouda Shrine, located inside Kopeeki Drifts Cave.
- The Lightroot is found at roughly −2317, 2200, −0781.
- Activating it reveals the surrounding Depths map and unlocks a travel point.
- There is no verified shop, NPC, quest giver, boss, treasure chest or named subarea belonging to Aduon Lightroot itself.
- The nearby Abandoned Hebra Mine and Cuho Canyon Mine belong to the broader Tabantha Frontier Depths and should not be merged into Aduon Lightroot’s page.
About this guide
Scope: Base game, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Location boundary: This guide covers Aduon Lightroot itself and its immediate Lightroot platform, not the whole Tabantha Frontier Depths. Nearby places such as the Abandoned Hebra Mine, Cuho Canyon Mine, other Lightroots, and the Rito Village Chasm are separate locations in the wider region. The Tabantha Frontier Depths category contains thirteen named locations in total, of which Aduon Lightroot is only one.
Overview
Aduon Lightroot is a single Lightroot in the Tabantha Frontier Depths, the part of the Depths beneath western Hyrule and the Tabantha Frontier. It is the underground counterpart to Nouda Shrine, whose name is reversed to form “Aduon”. The Lightroot is positioned at approximately −2317, 2200, −0781, although some guide databases record the travel-gate position a few coordinates away, including −2318, 2201, −0801. The small variation appears to reflect different map-point conventions rather than a different location.
Unlike a mine, settlement or combat arena, Aduon Lightroot has no separate dungeon, shop, named residents or dedicated quest attached to it. Its importance is practical: activating it illuminates part of the Depths, reveals nearby map detail, creates a fast-travel point and helps restore hearts damaged by Gloom while Link stands beneath its light.
Location and boundaries
Aduon Lightroot is a compact point of interest rather than a broad explorable region. The name refers to the glowing root and its immediate stone platform. It does not refer to all the tunnels, cliffs and mines spread across the Tabantha Frontier Depths.
This distinction matters because regional maps often list Aduon alongside several much larger locations. The wider Tabantha Frontier Depths includes other Lightroots such as Kataki Lightroot, Kawakarut Lightroot, Kawumoro Lightroot, Koro-nui Lightroot, Sasag Lightroot, Sikatag Lightroot and Yisuayam Lightroot, as well as the Abandoned Hebra Mine, Cuho Canyon Mine, Cliff Bargainer Statue and Rito Village Chasm. Those are neighbouring or regional locations, not child areas of Aduon Lightroot.
Nearby but separate locations
These names are useful for regional navigation, but are not included within Aduon Lightroot:
The nearby locations above are taken from the regional Tabantha Frontier Depths listings. Their inclusion here is for boundary clarification only.

What Aduon Lightroot does
Lightroots are large glowing roots in the Depths. When Link activates one, it performs four important functions:
The root does not provide a shop, healing dialogue, construction service or inventory exchange. Its functions are environmental and navigational.
What Aduon Lightroot does: steps
- 01Illuminates the surrounding area. The light reduces the need to throw Brightbloom Seeds while exploring nearby terrain.
What Aduon Lightroot does: steps
- 01Reveals local Depths map data. The newly lit section becomes visible on the Purah Pad map, although the exact amount of revealed terrain depends on the Lightroot and surrounding geography.
What Aduon Lightroot does: steps
- 01Creates a fast-travel point. Once activated, Aduon Lightroot can be selected as a travel destination from the map.
What Aduon Lightroot does: steps
- 01Helps reverse Gloom damage. Standing under an activated Lightroot restores hearts that have been damaged by Gloom, in the same general way that returning to the Surface removes the temporary effect.
Surface counterpart: Nouda Shrine
Aduon Lightroot corresponds to Nouda Shrine on the Surface. The connection follows one of the main structural rules of the Depths: Lightroots generally occupy the same horizontal positions as Shrines of Light, while their names are written in reverse. “Aduon” reversed is “Nouda”.
Nouda Shrine is inside Kopeeki Drifts Cave in the Tabantha Frontier. It is a Proving Grounds: Intermediate shrine, meaning that Link enters the challenge with much of his equipment restricted and must use weapons and materials supplied within the shrine. Its reward is a Light of Blessing, with a Hearty Elixir listed as the shrine chest reward by shrine guides.
The Shrine is not part of Aduon Lightroot, but it is the most important surface connection for identifying the Lightroot’s position.
Surface connection directory
Nouda Shrine is described as being southwest of Snowfield Stable and inside Kopeeki Drifts Cave. The cave itself requires preparation for cold conditions, such as cold resistance from the Snowquill Set or suitable food and elixirs. Those cold-weather requirements apply to the Surface route to Nouda Shrine, not to the Lightroot below.

Access and routes
Route from the Depths
The most reliable way to reach Aduon Lightroot is to approach from another activated Lightroot in the Tabantha Frontier Depths. Because the Depths contain high walls, deep valleys and large areas of darkness, a direct line on the map does not always correspond to a simple walk.
A flying machine can be useful when the terrain forces a detour, but it is not a requirement. The root itself is not reported as requiring a puzzle, quest flag or special item.
Route from the Surface
There is no evidence that Aduon Lightroot has a dedicated surface chasm directly above it. The corresponding Surface position is occupied by Nouda Shrine inside Kopeeki Drifts Cave, so players should not treat the Shrine entrance as a normal open-air chasm.
For a surface-to-Depths expedition, use a suitable regional chasm, then navigate through the Tabantha Frontier Depths. If your objective is simply to unlock the shrine, it is usually more efficient to complete Nouda Shrine from Kopeeki Drifts Cave rather than descend into the Depths and search for the Lightroot first.
Ascend access nearby
A documented Ascend access point exists in the Tabantha Frontier Depths south-southwest of Aduon Lightroot. It leads to the Tabantha Village Ruins on the Surface. This is a nearby regional connection, not a facility belonging to Aduon Lightroot itself.
That route is especially useful if you activate Aduon while travelling through the Depths and want a quick return to western Hyrule without retracing the entire route to a chasm.
Route from the Depths: A practical method is
- 01Activate a nearby Lightroot in the Tabantha Frontier Depths.
- 02Open the Depths map and place a marker on Aduon Lightroot at approximately −2317, 2200, −0781.
- 03Travel towards it using Brightbloom Seeds, arrows fused with Brightbloom Seeds, or a vehicle with a light source.
- 04Use the illuminated terrain to identify cliffs and Gloom pools before committing to a descent.
- 05Activate Aduon Lightroot when you reach its root platform.
- 06Use the newly revealed map to decide whether to continue towards the regional mines or return to the Surface.
Exploration and navigation advice
Use the Surface Shrine as a map check
If you are missing either Nouda Shrine or Aduon Lightroot, compare the two map layers:
This relationship is one of the most useful ways to find missing Lightroots across the game, since the Lightroot and Shrine occupy corresponding positions.
Prepare for Gloom
The approach through the Depths may involve Gloom-covered ground or pools, although the exact hazards immediately around the root can vary with the route taken. Carrying meals or elixirs that restore cracked hearts is sensible. Once the root is activated, stand beneath its light before continuing if you have suffered Gloom damage.
Do not confuse the root with regional mines
The Tabantha Frontier Depths contain larger mining locations, including the Abandoned Hebra Mine and Cuho Canyon Mine. Those sites have their own structures, loot and exploration routes. They should be treated as separate destinations rather than as extensions of Aduon Lightroot.
Items and collectibles
No dedicated chest, unique weapon, armour piece, Sage’s Will, Yiga schematic or named collectible is verified as belonging to Aduon Lightroot itself.
The surrounding Tabantha Frontier Depths may contain ordinary enemy drops, Zonaite, ore deposits, chests and other randomly encountered or regionally placed items, but those should not be attributed to Aduon Lightroot without evidence that they are on the root’s own platform or within a clearly defined attached structure.
Collectible directory within the defined boundary
This is a statement about the narrowly defined Lightroot location, not a claim that the surrounding Tabantha Frontier Depths are empty.
Enemies, bosses and hazards
Aduon Lightroot has no documented boss encounter or shrine-style combat trial. It is not a Coliseum, mine arena or story battle location.
The principal hazards are those normally associated with the Depths:
Aduon itself should be treated as a safe navigational landmark once activated. It provides light and Gloom-heart recovery, but it does not automatically defeat nearby enemies or remove every environmental danger outside its illumination radius.
Enemy directory within the defined boundary
Enemy camps recorded elsewhere in the Tabantha Frontier Depths should remain under their own map locations. Regional walkthroughs describe camps near other Lightroots, including Yisuayam and Tikanur, but those encounters are not evidence of an encounter at Aduon itself.
Residents, characters and services
Aduon Lightroot has no settlement population and no verified ordinary NPCs. No named character is associated with the Lightroot in the base game.
Character and service directory
The Cliff Bargainer Statue, listed in the Tabantha Frontier Depths region, is a separate location and should not be treated as a service provided by Aduon Lightroot.
Suggested exploration route
For a player clearing this part of the map, the following order avoids unnecessary backtracking:
Suggested exploration route: steps
- 01Find and activate a regional chasm leading into the Tabantha Frontier Depths.
- 02Activate a nearby Lightroot to establish a visible starting point.
- 03Travel to Aduon Lightroot at approximately −2317, 2200, −0781.
- 04Activate Aduon and pause beneath its light to recover any Gloom-damaged hearts.
- 05Check the Surface map to confirm that Nouda Shrine is complete or mark it as the next objective.
- 06Return to the Surface, travel to Kopeeki Drifts Cave and complete Nouda Shrine if it remains unfinished.
- 07Use the regional Ascend access south-southwest of Aduon if you need to return near Tabantha Village Ruins.
- 08Continue to the larger regional destinations, such as the Abandoned Hebra Mine or Cuho Canyon Mine, treating each as a separate location.

Lore and design notes
Aduon Lightroot illustrates the deliberate relationship between Hyrule’s Surface and Depths. Its position mirrors Nouda Shrine, and the two names form a reverse pair. This is not merely a naming convention: the game uses Shrine and Lightroot locations as a practical navigation system between the two layers.
The Lightroot also demonstrates the different roles of the game’s map layers. Nouda Shrine offers a self-contained combat challenge and a Light of Blessing, while Aduon provides exploration support in the Depths. Neither location replaces the other, and completing one does not automatically activate the other.
