Overview

Yisuayam Lightroot is a Lightroot in the Tabantha Frontier Depths, directly beneath the area around the Forgotten Temple and Mayausiy Shrine on the surface. It stands in a broad, mountainous section of the Depths associated with Tanagar Canyon, and is notable for being positioned beneath the enormous Cliff Bargainer Statue. Activating it both illuminates the surrounding map and creates a fast-travel point.

Yisuayam is not a settlement, dungeon or mine. Its importance is practical: it is a navigation hub in the north-eastern part of the Tabantha Frontier Depths, a reference point for several nearby enemy camps, and the Depths counterpart to Mayausiy Shrine.

Location and boundaries

Yisuayam Lightroot belongs to the Tabantha Frontier Depths, a named regional section of Hyrule’s underground world. The regional boundary is considerably larger than the Lightroot’s immediate platform. It includes several other Lightroots, abandoned mining sites, the Rito Village Chasm and the Cliff Bargainer Statue.

The Lightroot itself is a single landmark rather than a broad subarea. For guide purposes, its immediate scope includes:

It does not include the whole of the Tabantha Frontier Depths, the Abandoned Hebra Mine or Cuho Canyon Mine. Those are neighbouring regional locations and should be treated as separate destinations.

Surface relationship

Yisuayam Lightroot is directly associated with Mayausiy Shrine, located in the Forgotten Temple on the surface. The shrine and Lightroot relationship is useful for navigation: Lightroots correspond to surface Shrines of Light, and their names are reversed. Thus:

Mayausiy Shrine’s surface position provides a reliable visual and map reference when searching underground.

The Cliff Bargainer Statue

The most distinctive landmark near Yisuayam Lightroot is the Cliff Bargainer Statue. It is a large Bargainer Statue positioned in the Depths near the Lightroot, beneath the general area of the Mother Goddess Statue and Forgotten Temple on the surface.

Bargainer Statues are used to exchange Poes for Depths-related goods, including certain pieces of equipment and other supplies. The statue is therefore more than scenery: it gives this otherwise isolated Lightroot a useful service point.

Practical use

The available exchanges should be checked in-game. Do not assume that every Bargainer Statue has identical inventory or that all items are immediately available.

---

Practical use: After reaching the area

  1. 01
    Activate Yisuayam Lightroot first.
  2. 02
Use the new illumination to locate the statue and surrounding ledges.
  3. 03
    Approach the Cliff Bargainer Statue.
  4. 04
Check its exchange inventory if you are collecting Poe-based equipment or supplies.
  5. 05
Mark the Lightroot as a return point before travelling deeper into Tabantha.

Routes and access

The most natural surface reference is the Forgotten Temple and Mayausiy Shrine. From the surface map:

The Lightroot is not inside the Forgotten Temple. The temple and shrine are surface locations, while Yisuayam is underground. Confusing the two layers is the most common navigation error.

Route from another Lightroot

Yisuayam is in the eastern part of the Tabantha Frontier Depths region. A player approaching from the wider Tabantha underground network can use the regional Lightroots as stepping stones. The exact route depends on which chasms and Lightroots have already been activated, but the following named locations are part of the same regional network:

These locations are all listed under the Tabantha Frontier Depths, but they are separate Lightroots rather than subareas of Yisuayam.

Reaching it before the map is revealed

If the surrounding Depths map is still dark, use the surface map as a guide:

Enemies and hazards

Yisuayam Lightroot itself is primarily a navigation and travel facility. The main danger lies in the monster camps surrounding it.

A documented camp lies directly east of Yisuayam Lightroot. It contains a group of Silver and Blue Lizalfos, supported by a Black Bokoblin. Another camp lies along the high ledge south of the Lightroot, with Silver and Black Bokoblins. Further south along that elevated route is a larger enemy base containing Black and Blue Bokoblins with Black Moblin leaders.

Gloom

As with the rest of the Depths, exposed Gloom can temporarily reduce Link’s maximum health. Yisuayam is not documented as having a unique Gloom mechanic, special status effect or exclusive hazard beyond the standard Depths environment. Treat dark ground and red-black pools cautiously, especially when travelling between the Lightroot and the nearby camps.

Services and facilities

Lightroot functions

Lightroots are not shrines and do not provide a shrine puzzle, blessing chest or Light of Blessing. The reward for reaching Yisuayam is exploration access and a permanent navigation point rather than a conventional dungeon reward. The location is classified as a Lightroot and is recorded as a travel gate.

Cliff Bargainer Statue

The nearby Cliff Bargainer Statue is the area’s principal service landmark. It is separate from the Lightroot itself, but close enough to combine both activities in one visit:

No shop, stable, settlement, ordinary NPC population or law-enforcement facility is documented at Yisuayam Lightroot.

    Activate Yisuayam Lightroot.
  2. 02

  4. 04
Fast-travel away or continue south and east through the regional Depths.

Surface counterpart

The Forgotten Temple and Mother Goddess Statue are surface landmarks connected to the Lightroot’s position, not parts of the underground location itself. The surface area should therefore be kept separate when documenting quests, shrine contents or temple exploration.

Completing one does not automatically complete the others.

Lore and exploration notes

Yisuayam illustrates one of the most useful structural relationships in Tears of the Kingdom: the Depths often mirror the surface world. Its location beneath Mayausiy Shrine makes the reversed naming pattern especially clear. The enormous Cliff Bargainer Statue also reinforces the way major surface religious or monumental landmarks are echoed underground.

The surrounding terrain’s relationship to Tanagar Canyon is more important than the Lightroot’s immediate platform. Yisuayam is positioned at the northern end of a mountainous underground area corresponding to the canyon and nearby highlands, rather than in an isolated chamber with its own fully separate dungeon layout.
