About this guide

Scope note: TayamiK Lightroot is a single Lightroot location, not a broad settlement or named subregion. This guide therefore covers the Lightroot itself, its immediate Eldin Canyon Depths surroundings, its surface counterpart, and the nearby named locations that are useful for reaching or identifying it. It does not merge TayamiK with the wider Eldin Canyon Depths, Akkala House of Bones, Death Mountain, or the surface Eldin Canyon region.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Base game

Introduction

TayamiK Lightroot is a Lightroot in the northern part of the Eldin Canyon Depths, positioned close to the boundary with the Depths beneath the Akkala region. It is found at approximately 2864, 3639, -0685, although map guides may display slightly different final digits depending on the exact point used for the coordinate reading.

The Lightroot sits directly beneath the surface Kimayat Shrine, making the shrine the most reliable landmark for finding it. Like every ordinary Lightroot, TayamiK has two main functions: it illuminates the surrounding section of the Depths map and becomes a fast-travel point once activated. It does not contain a separate shrine trial, shop, settlement, quest hub, or permanent NPC population.

Overview

TayamiK Lightroot is one of the northernmost Lightroots in the Eldin Canyon Depths. Its position makes it useful when filling in the upper Eldin section of the Depths map, particularly if you are travelling between the Lightroots around Death Mountain and the locations farther north-east towards Akkala.

The Lightroot is not a large complex. The named location consists of the Lightroot itself and the immediate illuminated ground around its base. There is no separate named cavern, mining settlement, building, shop, stable, Yiga base, or mission area that should be treated as a subarea of TayamiK Lightroot.

The surrounding Depths terrain belongs to the volcanic Eldin environment. As a result, normal clothing is not enough for safe exploration. Flame Guard is the relevant protection here. This is distinct from Gloom resistance: Flame Guard protects Link from hot environments and burning conditions, while Gloom resistance helps with damage caused by Gloom. The two effects should not be confused.

Location and boundaries

TayamiK Lightroot belongs to the Eldin Canyon Depths region. It is separate from the nearby Akkala House of Bones, which is a different named Depths location beneath Skull Lake. The House of Bones is useful as a nearby destination and map reference, but it is not an extension of TayamiK Lightroot.

The last group should not be presented as buildings or subareas of TayamiK Lightroot. They are separate nearby or regionally connected places in the wider Eldin and Akkala Depths.

Canonical names within the immediate scope

Related but separate places

Surface counterpart: Kimayat Shrine

TayamiK Lightroot is directly associated with Kimayat Shrine on the surface. This is part of the game’s broad surface-to-Depths correspondence, in which surface shrines generally align with Lightroots below them. The shrine and Lightroot are separate locations with separate functions, although their names are related by reversal:

Kimayat Shrine is a Proving Grounds: Smash shrine. Its challenge removes Link’s equipment temporarily and asks him to defeat the shrine constructs using the weapons and materials provided inside. The shrine’s reward is a Light of Blessing, with a shrine chest containing a Mighty Zonaite Sword or equivalent translation naming depending on the guide and localisation used. The shrine challenge is not part of TayamiK Lightroot itself.

Using the shrine to locate the Lightroot

The exact route depends on which chasm and Lightroots you have already unlocked. The shrine is normally a better starting reference than trying to navigate from an unlit Depths map.

Surface counterpart: Kimayat Shrine

Using the shrine to locate the Lightroot

  1. 01
Open the surface map and locate Kimayat Shrine.
  2. 02
    Switch to the Depths map.
  3. 03
Place a marker at the matching position below the shrine.
  4. 04
Enter the Depths through a suitable nearby chasm.
  5. 05
Travel towards the marker while using Brightbloom Seeds to illuminate the route.
  6. 06
Activate TayamiK Lightroot when you reach it.

Access and route planning

Flame Guard can come from Flamebreaker equipment or fire-resistant elixirs. The amount required depends on the exact heat level and route. Do not assume that ordinary heat-resistant food, such as food used for the Gerudo desert, will protect Link from Eldin’s burning conditions.

Route from the surface

The available chasms do not necessarily place Link directly beside the Lightroot. The Depths contain vertical cliffs, lava-adjacent terrain, and dark sections that can make a seemingly short map distance awkward on foot. Activating nearby Lightroots first is often safer than attempting the entire journey in darkness.

Route from other Lightroots

TayamiK is most useful as part of a northern Eldin traversal route. Depending on which parts of the map are open, you can approach it from the southern Eldin Lightroots and then continue towards the north-eastern Depths near Akkala.

These locations form part of the broader Eldin and Akkala Depths network. They are not all immediately adjacent to TayamiK, so they should be treated as route-planning references rather than a single connected subarea. Game8’s Eldin Canyon Depths listing places TayamiK alongside the other Eldin Lightroots and gives its commonly used coordinates as 2864, 3639, -0685.

Route from the surface: The most direct conceptual route is

  1. 01
Reach the surface area around Kimayat Shrine.
  2. 02
Find a nearby chasm that drops into the Eldin or northern Eldin Depths.
  3. 03
Glide away from the chasm and use the surface shrine as your map reference.
  4. 04
Activate any intervening Lightroots to create a chain of fast-travel points.
  5. 05
Continue north or north-east towards TayamiK Lightroot.

Services and facilities

TayamiK Lightroot has the standard Lightroot functions only.

Not present

There is no verified evidence of the following at TayamiK Lightroot:

A Lightroot should not be treated as a settlement simply because it is a named map location. Its name identifies a map and travel facility rather than a populated area.

Enemies and hazards

No fixed boss encounter is associated with the Lightroot itself. As with other Depths locations, however, enemies may occupy nearby terrain and route encounters can vary according to the path taken.

The principal hazard is environmental heat. The Eldin Depths contain volcanic terrain and areas where Link can suffer Fire damage without appropriate protection. Equip Flame Guard before committing to a long journey. If your equipment gives insufficient protection, Link may begin taking damage even when the route appears to be away from visible lava.

The heat and Gloom systems are separate. A set-up that protects against Fire does not automatically protect against Gloom, and Gloom-resistant equipment does not substitute for Flame Guard.

Walkthrough: activating TayamiK Lightroot

  1. 01
Prepare Flame Guard. Equip Flamebreaker gear or carry suitable fire-resistant elixirs.

Walkthrough: activating TayamiK Lightroot

  1. 01
Locate Kimayat Shrine. Use the shrine’s position on the surface as the vertical target for the Lightroot.

Walkthrough: activating TayamiK Lightroot

  1. 01
Enter the Depths. Choose a nearby chasm with a route that allows safe gliding and enough room to orient yourself.

Walkthrough: activating TayamiK Lightroot

  1. 01
    Mark the target. Place a Depths-map marker at approximately 2864, 3639, -0685.

Walkthrough: activating TayamiK Lightroot

  1. 01
Light the route. Throw Brightbloom Seeds regularly. In a volcanic region, visibility can be especially poor when the terrain blends into dark basalt.

Walkthrough: activating TayamiK Lightroot

  1. 01
Avoid unnecessary detours. Do not confuse the route to TayamiK with the separate route to Akkala House of Bones. If the map marker begins leading you far north-east towards Skull Lake, you may be heading towards the House of Bones instead.

Walkthrough: activating TayamiK Lightroot

  1. 01
Activate the Lightroot. Interact with TayamiK Lightroot when you reach its base.

Walkthrough: activating TayamiK Lightroot

  1. 01
Check the map. Confirm that the surrounding portion of the Eldin Canyon Depths has been revealed and that the Lightroot icon is now available for fast travel.

Walkthrough: activating TayamiK Lightroot

  1. 01
Use it as a route anchor. TayamiK is a useful staging point for later exploration towards the northern Eldin and Akkala Depths.

Collectibles and rewards

The guaranteed reward for activating TayamiK Lightroot is functional rather than an inventory item:

There is no separately verified unique weapon, armour piece, shrine chest, mission reward, or permanent collectible assigned to the Lightroot itself.

Random enemy drops, mineral deposits, Poes, Zonai materials, and other ordinary Depths resources may be found along the surrounding route. These should not be presented as fixed TayamiK rewards unless a specific placement has been independently verified. The Lightroot’s main purpose is exploration and navigation.

Progression and missability

TayamiK Lightroot is not tied to a known story checkpoint or mandatory regional quest. It can be activated whenever Link can reach the relevant section of the Depths and survive the environmental conditions.

There is no known permanent missability trigger. If you leave the area, TayamiK remains available for later activation. If you activate it early, it remains a fast-travel point for the rest of the save file.

Its practical progression value increases as you explore the Eldin and Akkala Depths:
