About this guide

Base-game scope. This guide covers Busus Lightroot itself and the immediately associated locations needed to reach it or understand its rewards. It does not treat the whole West Necluda Depths as part of Busus Lightroot. Nearby locations such as the Hills of Baumer Chasm, the Yiga Clan base and the Right-Arm Depot are described as connections or neighbouring sites, not as subareas of the Lightroot.

Overview

Busus Lightroot is a small but useful Lightroot in the West Necluda Depths of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It sits below the West Necluda region, close to the underground Yiga Clan base reached from the Hills of Baumer Chasm. Activating it illuminates the surrounding Depths, reveals the local map and creates a permanent fast-travel point. Its surface counterpart is Susub Shrine, whose name is the reversed form of “Busus”.

Busus Lightroot is easy to overlook because its illuminated area is relatively compact and the nearby Yiga base is more visually conspicuous. It is nevertheless an important waypoint when exploring the western side of the West Necluda Depths, particularly if you are collecting the Beam Spinner Yiga Schematic or travelling between the Hills of Baumer Chasm and the larger underground facilities farther east.

Location and boundaries

Busus Lightroot is a single Lightroot landmark rather than a broad explorable region. Its proper scope consists of the glowing root platform, the immediate surrounding terrain illuminated when it is activated and the travel-point function attached to it.

The Lightroot belongs to the West Necluda Depths, a wider underground area that also includes several other Lightroots, chasms, mines, groves and major story-related locations. The regional directory includes sites such as Abandoned Kakariko Mine, Dueling Canyons Mine, Rozudo Canyon Mine, Bubinga Grove, Hickaly Grove, Secluded Coliseum, Spirit Temple and several other Lightroots. These are not subareas of Busus Lightroot and should not be folded into this location’s page.

What Busus Lightroot does

Lightroots are the roots of enormous trees growing in the Depths. When Link activates one, it performs four important functions:

Each Lightroot has a corresponding Shrine of Light on the Surface, and the two names are anagrams or reversed forms of one another. Busus Lightroot therefore corresponds to Susub Shrine.

Practical effect of the illumination

The light from Busus Lightroot is most useful for navigating the local western Depths. It does not illuminate the entire West Necluda underground region. If a nearby route remains dark after activation, that is expected and means another Lightroot or a Brightbloom-based route is needed.

The Lightroot’s glow also makes nearby terrain, cliffs and enemy camps easier to read. This is particularly helpful around the Yiga base, where moving enemies, raised structures and dark ground can make it difficult to judge the approach before the area is lit.

  1. 01
    Illuminates the surrounding underground area.
  2. 02
Reveals local Depths map data on the Purah Pad.

Access and routes

Route 1: Hills of Baumer Chasm

The most direct named entrance is the Hills of Baumer Chasm. On the surface, the Hills of Baumer lie near Deya Lake and west of the Popla Foothills area. The chasm descends directly into a Yiga-controlled section of the Depths.

The chasm route is useful because it places you in the correct part of the Depths, but it does not deposit Link directly on the Lightroot. The nearby Yiga base can also distract from the actual objective.

Route 2: Travel from another activated Lightroot

If Busus Lightroot is missing from your map, the easiest approach may be to activate a neighbouring Lightroot first and travel through the Depths. The West Necluda Depths contains several other Lightroots, including Arusakam Lightroot, Sohse Lightroot, U-u-ujoj Lightroot, Uisihcoj Lightroot and Yikot Lightroot.

Because the Depths terrain is irregular, a flying vehicle, hoverbike or other aerial build is often more convenient than climbing. However, the important navigational principle is simple: use the map position of the Lightroot rather than attempting to match the surface route exactly. The Surface and Depths overlap spatially, but cliffs, walls and underground elevation differences can make a straight underground route impractical.

Route 3: Use the surface shrine as a map clue

If you have already found Susub Shrine, switch to the Depths map and look for the corresponding position. Lightroots and surface shrines occupy matching locations, making the Surface map a useful way to locate a missing underground Lightroot. Busus Lightroot is the underground counterpart of Susub Shrine, not a separate shrine challenge.

Route 1: Hills of Baumer Chasm: A practical route is

  1. 01
Travel to the Hills of Baumer Chasm on the Surface.
  2. 02
    Drop into the chasm.
  3. 03
Use Brightbloom Seeds or another light source while orienting yourself.
  4. 04
Move away from the Yiga base rather than assuming the first structures are Busus Lightroot.
  5. 05
Use the Lightroot’s glow as a navigation reference and approach it from the surrounding open terrain.
  6. 06
    Activate Busus Lightroot.
  7. 07
Return to the Yiga base if you want the Beam Spinner reward.

Surface connection: Susub Shrine

Susub Shrine is the Surface counterpart of Busus Lightroot. It is in West Necluda, at approximately (0349, -2051, -0013), while the Lightroot lies at approximately (0350, -2052, -0492).

The shrine is a Rauru’s Blessing shrine. Once the shrine has been revealed and entered, there is no internal puzzle. Link can collect the shrine chest and the Light of Blessing directly.

This shrine and the Lightroot are linked by location and naming, but they serve different progression systems:

Finding Susub Shrine does not automatically activate Busus Lightroot. The two locations must be completed separately.

About this guide

Spoiler warning: The following section describes a nearby Yiga reward and its acquisition conditions.

Nearby Yiga Clan base

A Yiga Clan base lies near Busus Lightroot. One location guide places the base southwest of the Lightroot and identifies it as the location of the Beam Spinner Yiga Schematic. The base is close enough to make it a natural second objective after activating Busus Lightroot, but it is not part of the Lightroot’s own structure.

The Beam Spinner schematic is an Autobuild design requiring a Hover Stone, Big Wheel and Beam Emitter when built from available parts. If the parts are unavailable, the design can be created by spending Zonaite. One guide lists the full missing-material cost as 9 Zonaite.

Obtaining the Beam Spinner schematic

The Yiga armour set is useful but not an absolute requirement. It changes detection behaviour, whereas the actual progression condition is defeating the marked guard. The sources consulted do not establish that wearing the complete set is mandatory.

Beam Spinner directory

The listed components are the construction parts for the schematic, not necessarily guaranteed loose items at Busus Lightroot. The schematic itself is a fixed reward, while the parts may be obtained elsewhere or supplied through Autobuild.

---

Obtaining the Beam Spinner schematic

  1. 01
Activate Busus Lightroot first if you have not already done so. This provides a safe fast-travel point and improves visibility.
  2. 02
    Locate the nearby Yiga base.
  3. 03
Deal with the Yiga defenders or use the Yiga armour set to reduce the chance of being detected.
  4. 04
Identify the marked Yiga guard associated with the sealed storehouse.
  5. 05
Defeat the guard. Guides describe this as the condition for opening the storehouse.
  6. 06
Enter the opened room and take the chest containing the Beam Spinner schematic.
  7. 07
Search the base separately for the chest containing 20 Crystallized Charges.

Collectibles and rewards

Fixed rewards at Busus Lightroot

The principal fixed reward at Busus Lightroot is the location’s permanent utility:

There is no verified shrine chest, Light of Blessing, named armour piece, Korok Seed or boss reward at the Lightroot itself in the sources consulted.

Nearby fixed rewards

The nearby Yiga base provides the most significant associated rewards:

The schematic and Crystallized Charges should not be described as items inside Busus Lightroot. They are nearby rewards reached by using the Lightroot as a waypoint.

Enemies and hazards

Busus Lightroot itself is not documented as a dedicated combat arena. The main dangers come from travelling through the surrounding Depths and approaching the nearby Yiga base.

Gloom

Gloom can reduce Link’s maximum available health. Standing beneath an activated Lightroot’s light restores the damaged maximum-health capacity in the same general way as returning to the Surface. This makes Busus Lightroot a useful recovery point during a longer underground expedition.

It does not make Link immune to all Gloom damage outside the illuminated area. Treat the Lightroot as a safe recovery point rather than a permanent Gloom-resistant status.

Yiga Clan members

The nearby base contains hostile Yiga Clan members and a marked guard connected to the Beam Spinner storehouse. Detection can be avoided or reduced with Yiga armour, but combat remains possible without it.

Darkness and uneven terrain

The route between the chasm and the Lightroot can be difficult to read before activation. Carry Brightbloom Seeds, use a vehicle with its own lighting or travel from an already activated Lightroot.

Hazards directory

No fixed boss encounter is verified at Busus Lightroot.

Lore and design notes

Busus Lightroot illustrates the deliberate relationship between the Surface and the Depths in Tears of the Kingdom. The Lightroot and Susub Shrine occupy corresponding positions on different map layers, and their names mirror one another. This is part of a wider game rule in which each Lightroot has a matching surface Shrine of Light.

The location also demonstrates the contrast between the two layers. On the Surface, the corresponding landmark is a quiet blessing shrine. Below it, the player finds a dark underground route, a Lightroot and a nearby Yiga installation. The pair is therefore useful both mechanically and geographically: the shrine can help identify the position of the missing Lightroot, while the Lightroot provides a practical base for exploring the underground area.
