Key takeaways
- Arusakam Lightroot is in the West Necluda Depths, not in Kakariko Village itself and not inside the surface shrine.
- It is directly associated with Makasura Shrine, whose name is the reverse of “Arusakam”.
- The Lightroot is immediately north of the Abandoned Kakariko Mine, but the mine is a distinct named location and should not be treated as part of the Lightroot.
- The most straightforward approach is through East Hill Chasm, near Kakariko Village. From the Depths landing point, travel south-west towards the Lightroot.
- The Lightroot is useful before entering the mine because its illumination makes the surrounding area easier to navigate and gives Link a reliable fast-travel destination.
- The nearby mine contains the Launch Pad Schema Stone, but that reward belongs to the Abandoned Kakariko Mine, not to Arusakam Lightroot.
About this guide
Scope: Base game The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Location type: Lightroot in the Depths. Region: West Necluda Depths. Surface counterpart: Makasura Shrine. Approximate coordinates: 1769, -1053, -0629. Primary function: Map illumination and fast travel. Important boundary: Arusakam Lightroot is a separate location from the nearby Abandoned Kakariko Mine, although the two are close enough to form one practical exploration stop.
Overview
Arusakam Lightroot is a compact but useful Depths landmark beneath the Kakariko area of West Necluda. It stands immediately north of the Abandoned Kakariko Mine, separated from the mine by a wall, and serves as the underground counterpart to Makasura Shrine on the surface. Activating it reveals the surrounding Depths map and creates a permanent Travel Point.
The Lightroot itself has little in the way of separate side content. Its importance comes from its position. It is the easiest navigation marker for reaching the Abandoned Kakariko Mine, one of the Depths’ Forge Construct sites, and it provides a safe illuminated base from which to explore the surrounding gloom-covered terrain.
Overview and boundaries
Arusakam Lightroot is a single Lightroot structure in the Depths. Its immediate area consists of the root, the surrounding illuminated ground after activation, and the dark underground terrain around it. The adjacent Abandoned Kakariko Mine is not a subarea of the Lightroot. It is a separate location with its own Construct, mine structures, rewards and encounters.
This distinction matters because guides sometimes describe the Lightroot and mine together as one destination. For route planning, that is sensible. For a location directory, however, they should be recorded separately:
Nearby but separate
The wider regional category is the West Necluda Depths, which contains several other Lightroots, mines, groves and major underground sites. Arusakam is only one entry in that wider region, not a name for the whole underground area.
Geography and position
Arusakam Lightroot lies in the Depths beneath the Kakariko and West Necluda area. Its surface counterpart is Makasura Shrine, located near Kakariko Village. The correspondence is part of the game’s general Lightroot design: each Lightroot normally mirrors a surface Shrine of Light, and the two names are usually anagrams or reversals of one another.
The underground terrain around the Lightroot is substantially lower than the surface and is affected by the usual Depths conditions:
Once activated, Arusakam Lightroot provides a strong local light source and reveals the surrounding portion of the Depths map on the Purah Pad. Standing within the light also allows Link to recover maximum-health loss caused by Gloom, subject to the normal Lightroot rules.
Access and routes
Recommended route from the surface
The most practical route begins at East Hill Chasm, just outside Kakariko Village.
Several guides identify the Lightroot as the key approach point for the Abandoned Kakariko Mine. The route from East Hill Chasm is generally described as a south-west journey to the Lightroot, followed by a short move towards the mine.
Route from the Abandoned Kakariko Mine
If you are already exploring the mine, Arusakam Lightroot is immediately north of it, with a wall between the two locations. The exact path depends on which part of the mine you are standing in, but the Lightroot’s glow is usually the most obvious navigation reference once the surrounding darkness has been reduced.
Using the Lightroot as a regional hub
After activation, Arusakam is most useful as a return point for:
Recommended route from the surface
- 01Travel to East Hill Chasm and descend into the Depths.
- 02On landing, orient yourself towards the south-west.
- 03Use Brightbloom Seeds or the glow from visible underground landmarks to maintain a heading.
- 04Continue towards the coordinates around 1769, -1053, -0629.
- 05Activate Arusakam Lightroot as soon as you reach it.
- 06From the Lightroot, turn towards the nearby Abandoned Kakariko Mine if you are pursuing its Forge Construct or Schema Stone.
Nearby connections
The following entries are close or relevant to Arusakam Lightroot, but they should not be merged into the Lightroot’s own location entry.
Other regional Lightroots
West Necluda contains several additional Lightroots, including Busus, Sohse, U-u-ujoj, Uisihcoj and Yikot. These are separate travel points and should not be counted as facilities within Arusakam Lightroot.

The Abandoned Kakariko Mine connection
The mine is the main reason most players visit Arusakam Lightroot. It contains a Steward Construct associated with the Launch Pad Schema Stone. Speaking with the Construct awards the Schema Stone, which can then be used to reproduce the Launch Pad vehicle through Autobuild. A nearby chest contains a Large Crystallized Charge according to route documentation for the mine.
The Schema Stone and mine chest are not rewards for activating Arusakam Lightroot. They belong to the adjacent mine and should be tracked under that location.
The recommended order is
- 01Activate Arusakam Lightroot.
- 02Use the newly created Travel Point as a secure return location.
- 03Enter or approach the Abandoned Kakariko Mine.
- 04Speak to the Steward Construct.
- 05Obtain the Launch Pad Schema Stone.
- 06Use Autobuild to create the Launch Pad if you have the necessary Zonaite.
- 07Collect the nearby chest reward and examine the rest of the mine separately.
Services and facilities
Arusakam Lightroot has a deliberately limited service profile.
Not confirmed as part of the Lightroot
There is no evidence that Arusakam Lightroot itself contains:
Those features should not be inferred from the nearby mine or from the general functions of other Depths locations.
Confirmed services
| Name | Details |
|---|---|
| Travel Point | Available after activation. |
| Map illumination | Reveals the local Depths map. |
| Gloom recovery area | The Lightroot’s illumination enables the normal restoration of maximum health lost to Gloom while Link is within its effect. |
Enemies and hazards
The Lightroot’s primary hazards are environmental rather than a named boss encounter. Before activation, darkness makes it easy to miss the structure or stray into Gloom-covered ground. Prepare with Brightbloom Seeds, healing food and, if needed, Gloom-resistant equipment or meals.
The nearby Abandoned Kakariko Mine has its own encounters and should be treated as a separate combat area. Regional walkthrough records associate the wider mine expedition with enemies such as a Black Hinox, but that does not establish that the enemy is located at the Lightroot itself.
Items and collectibles directory
Arusakam Lightroot
No separate item chest or unique collectible has been reliably verified as belonging to the Lightroot platform itself.
Adjacent Abandoned Kakariko Mine
These mine rewards are listed here only to clarify the nearby connection. They are not part of Arusakam Lightroot’s own inventory.
Lore and design notes
Arusakam Lightroot illustrates one of *Tears of the Kingdom*’s most consistent spatial relationships. The Depths are broadly arranged beneath the surface, and Lightroots commonly correspond to Shrines of Light above them. Arusakam and Makasura demonstrate the naming pattern especially clearly: “Arusakam” is the reversed form of “Makasura”.
The contrast between the surface Shrine and the underground Lightroot is also useful for navigation. If Makasura Shrine is already visible on the surface map, checking the corresponding Depths map can help identify the approximate position of Arusakam, even before the underground region has been illuminated.
