Introduction

The Spirit Temple is the fifth and final Sage temple in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, although it differs greatly from the Wind, Fire, Water and Lightning Temples. Most of its associated journey takes place outside the temple proper, across the sky, the Surface and the Depths. The dungeon itself is a compact boss arena rather than a large puzzle complex.

That distinction matters. The route commonly described as the “Spirit Temple” includes several separate locations:

The temple’s story purpose is to recover Mineru’s Secret Stone and restore her physical vessel. Once the boss is defeated, Mineru becomes the Sage of Spirit, and her Construct becomes a permanent companion that Link can summon in the overworld.

The temple proper

The Spirit Temple is the elevated Zonai ruin where Mineru’s Secret Stone is kept. Its entrance is reached after the Construct Factory sequence and a journey through the southern Depths. Link brings Mineru’s newly assembled Construct to the temple, activates the entrance and receives a teleport point.

Inside, the temple contains a short approach to the boss arena. It does not have the multi-room key-and-terminal structure associated with the Wind, Fire, Water or Lightning Temples. There is no set of five temple terminals to activate and no conventional dungeon map sequence. Instead, the temple functions as the climax of the Mineru quest, with the preceding construction and travel sections providing most of the exploration and mechanical challenges.

Neighbouring and associated locations

These locations should not be treated as rooms of the Spirit Temple:

The Construct Factory is described as a former Zonai port and warehouse for materials from the Depths. It is operated by a Caretaker Construct and is directly associated with the four depots and the Spirit Temple, but it remains a distinct location.

The temple stands in the Depths among Zonai-built structures, mineable rock and gloom-covered ground. Its route is marked by illuminated structures and Zonai devices, making it easier to follow than many unmarked Depths passages. The surrounding area is nevertheless hazardous because the Depths are dark, vertical and populated by monsters.

Mineru’s Construct changes how the area is navigated. It can walk over gloom without suffering the same immediate danger as Link, break certain obstacles and carry attached weapons. A cannon is particularly useful for clearing boulders and opening routes through ore-strewn passages. Rockets are useful when the temple entrance is too high to reach with ordinary movement.

Starting Guidance from Ages Past

The quest begins at Dragonhead Island, found in the sky above the Faron and West Necluda area. A Zonai relic is located behind a mysterious door. Carrying and activating the relic causes it to project a beam towards the next stage of the quest.

The route then leads to Tobio’s Hollow, where the relic opens the way into the Depths. The exact point at which the quest becomes available can depend on the player’s progress through the main story and exploration of the Thunderhead Isles. The quest can be started without completing every stage of the Ring Ruins storyline, but the persistent cloud and thunderstorms can make the sky-island approach substantially harder to navigate.

Recommended preparation

A larger battery is helpful because Mineru’s Construct consumes energy while moving and while using attached devices. The Construct can still be used with a small battery, but frequent pauses to recharge make the journey slower.

The Construct Factory is the central staging area for the quest. Mineru’s voice explains that she needs a physical body before she can properly meet Link. Four nearby depots contain the missing components.

Depot directory

Each depot is a separate puzzle area. The general objective is to activate its terminal, release a boxed body part and transport that box back to the Construct Factory. The exact machinery differs between depots, but the recurring tools are:

The body parts are not simply carried by hand through the Depths. Each depot expects the player to construct a vehicle or transport mechanism suited to its route.

Practical depot advice

The depots are not shops, houses or ordinary settlements. Their devices and machinery are quest resources, and their access is mission-specific.

After completing the Construct Factory sequence, Mineru marks the Spirit Temple on the map.

Practical depot advice: steps

  1. 01
Activate the depot terminal first. This usually releases the relevant body-part container and establishes the intended objective.

Practical depot advice: steps

  1. 01
Inspect the route before attaching devices. Rails, broken bridges and vertical shafts often reveal the correct direction.

Practical depot advice: steps

  1. 01
Use Recall for failed launches. If a box falls short or a vehicle leaves the intended path, Recall can often return it to a previous position.

Practical depot advice: steps

  1. 01
Do not overbuild. A simple cart with one or two rockets is often easier to control than a large machine.

Practical depot advice: steps

  1. 01
Return the part to the correct slot. The Construct Factory’s body mould identifies where each component belongs. Once all four parts are installed, Mineru’s Construct becomes active.

Numbered walkthrough

The Seized Construct is the boss of the Spirit Temple. It is a prototype Construct originally intended to house Mineru’s spirit, but it has been corrupted by the Demon King’s power. Its listed title is Scourge of the Spirit Temple, and its fixed Spirit Temple health is reported as 20,000 points.

Numbered walkthrough: steps

  1. 01
Leave the Construct Factory with Mineru’s Construct. Equip at least one offensive device. A cannon is especially useful for breaking boulders, while a strong melee weapon is useful for close combat.

Numbered walkthrough: steps

  1. 01
Follow the illuminated Zonai route. The route passes between the depot areas and contains structures with spare Zonai devices. Use these to improve Mineru’s equipment if necessary.

Numbered walkthrough: steps

  1. 01
Deal with or bypass the Depths enemies. A Blue Hinox is encountered near the route associated with Sijotu Lightroot. It is optional in the sense that players may be able to pass around it, but fighting it can provide useful materials and combat practice.

Numbered walkthrough: steps

  1. 01
Activate Sijotu Lightroot. This reveals the surrounding terrain and makes the approach much easier to read. Its listed coordinates are approximately 1218, -2544, -0612.

Numbered walkthrough: steps

  1. 01
Break through rock and ore barriers. Attach a cannon to Mineru’s Construct or use a rock-fused weapon. Mining the Zonaite is optional, but clearing the route is not always optional.

Numbered walkthrough: steps

  1. 01
Watch for vertical sections. The temple entrance sits above the surrounding route. Attach a rocket to Mineru’s back or use an available launch structure to gain enough height.

Numbered walkthrough: steps

  1. 01
Enter the temple and activate it. Mineru’s Construct interacts with the entrance mechanism. This establishes the temple’s teleport point before the boss battle.

Numbered walkthrough: steps

  1. 01
Prepare the Construct before proceeding. Equip suitable arm weapons. A cannon can stagger or push the boss, while stronger melee devices are useful once it is near the arena boundary.

Numbered walkthrough: steps

  1. 01
Enter the boss arena. The Seized Construct appears as Link and Mineru approach the Secret Stone.

How the arena works

The battle is fought while riding Mineru’s Construct. The arena’s outer boundary is important because knocking the Seized Construct into the electrified barrier damages it and creates openings for follow-up attacks.

The fight is less about traditional swordplay and more about positioning:

Reliable battle plan

The battle’s most important lesson is that the arena itself is a weapon. Treating the Seized Construct like an ordinary overworld monster makes the fight longer and more dangerous.

Reliable battle plan: steps

  1. 01
Begin defensively. Hold the guard button and observe the boss’s attack pattern. Mineru’s Construct is large and can be easier for the boss to hit than Link.

Reliable battle plan: steps

  1. 01
Circle towards a wall. Your objective is not merely to drain health with normal attacks. Try to place the Seized Construct between Mineru and the electrified edge.

Reliable battle plan: steps

  1. 01
Use a cannon to create space. A cannon can interrupt or push the boss, although it consumes battery charge.

Reliable battle plan: steps

  1. 01
Follow up with melee attacks. Once the boss is close to the boundary, use arm-mounted weapons to drive it into the barrier.

Reliable battle plan: steps

  1. 01
Repeat after the phase change. The second phase increases the pressure and gives the boss more opportunities to attack from above or at range. Continue using the arena edge rather than attempting to win through ordinary damage alone.

Reliable battle plan: steps

  1. 01
Recharge between opportunities if needed. If your battery is low, prioritise blocking and movement until a safe opening appears.

Boss rewards

The quest’s ending removes the corrupted construct and gloom from the temple. Mineru’s spirit transfers from the Purah Pad into the Secret Stone, allowing her to operate the Construct properly.

Once the temple is complete, the Vow of Mineru allows Link to summon Mineru’s Construct in the overworld. It can be mounted and used as a mobile platform, combat companion and vehicle base.

Controls and equipment

Mineru’s Construct can use different equipment on its body:

Moving and operating devices consumes battery charge. The Construct is powerful but not universally convenient. It is slower than Link in many situations, cannot replace climbing and gliding everywhere, and can make some combat encounters harder because of its size.

Quest approach

Named characters and entities

Items and rewards

The Zonai relic is the object that guides Link through the opening stages of the quest. It is not the same thing as the Secret Stone, which is recovered after the Seized Construct is defeated.

The Spirit Temple itself has a deliberately small inventory compared with the other temples.

Temporary and quest-use resources

These resources are found along the wider route, especially around the depots and the path from the Construct Factory. They should not be mistaken for permanent temple rewards.

No shop, purchasable property, inn, shrine or confirmed Korok Seed is established within the Spirit Temple proper by the sources consulted. This is not evidence that no collectible exists anywhere in the surrounding Faron Depths, only that such regional content should not be assigned to the temple without separate verification.

Useful secrets and practical discoveries

The name Spirit Temple returns from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, but the two locations are not the same place in the game world. The Ocarina of Time Spirit Temple is associated with the Desert Colossus, while the Tears of the Kingdom temple is in the Faron Depths. The shared name and emphasis on spirit, ancient technology and a major dungeon climax are thematic connections rather than evidence that the two temples are geographically identical.

In Tears of the Kingdom, “spirit” refers especially to Mineru’s ability to separate her consciousness from her body and inhabit a Construct. The temple therefore combines traditional sacred imagery with a technological theme: the “spirit” is preserved in the Secret Stone, while the physical vessel is assembled in a Zonai factory.

The quest also gives the Spirit Temple an unusual place in the game’s dungeon structure. It is technically a temple, but its challenge is distributed across the open world. The sky-island investigation, Surface descent, Depths exploration, four depots and Construct Factory collectively form the dungeon experience, while the temple itself provides the final boss encounter.

Before leaving the area, confirm that you have:

Can the Spirit Temple be reached before the other temples?

The game permits considerable freedom in the order of many main quests, but the Spirit Temple route is tied to Guidance from Ages Past and the Zonai relic on Dragonhead Island. You cannot complete the temple normally without reaching Mineru’s quest sequence and assembling her Construct.

Is the Construct Factory part of the Spirit Temple?

No. It is the central associated location for the quest, but it is a distinct location with its own Caretaker Construct, four depots and assembly process.

Does the Spirit Temple have puzzles?

The temple proper has very little conventional puzzle content. Most of the quest’s construction puzzles occur in the four depots and at the Construct Factory.

Is the Blue Hinox mandatory?

It is encountered on the approach, but the route allows players to avoid some enemies rather than defeating everything. Fighting it can be useful for materials, but it is not the temple’s boss.

What do I get for finishing the temple?

You receive a Heart Container and the Vow of Mineru, which lets you summon Mineru’s Construct as the Sage of Spirit.

Is this the same Spirit Temple as in Ocarina of Time?

No. The Ocarina of Time temple is in the Desert Colossus. The Tears of the Kingdom Spirit Temple is in the Faron Depths. They share a name and some broad thematic ideas but are separate game locations.
