About this guide

Scope: Base game The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Spoiler warning: This guide reveals the relationship between Yikot Lightroot and Tokiy Shrine, plus the complete route through the associated Oakle’s Navel Cave shrine quest.

Overview

Yikot Lightroot is a Depths fast-travel point in the East Necluda / West Necluda Depths area, positioned beneath Tokiy Shrine on the surface. Its main importance is practical rather than narrative: activating it illuminates the surrounding section of the Depths, creates a permanent travel point and helps map the underground area beneath the Necluda highlands.

Yikot Lightroot is not a broad named region containing a settlement, mine, temple or dungeon. It is a single Lightroot location. The associated surface content is Tokiy Shrine, which is found inside Oakle’s Navel Cave and cannot be completed simply by locating the shrine entrance. Link must first retrieve a green crystal from the cave and return it to the shrine site.

The Lightroot and shrine use reversed names, a recurring naming pattern in Tears of the Kingdom: Tokiy becomes Yikot when read backwards. Tokiy Shrine’s page identifies Yikot Lightroot as its Depths counterpart.

Location and boundaries

Yikot Lightroot should be treated as a single Depths landmark, not as the name of the whole surrounding underground region. Its immediate function is to illuminate the local area and provide fast travel. The wider Depths around it are part of the Necluda underground map and should not be folded into the Lightroot’s own directory.

The Lightroot lies beneath the surface location of Tokiy Shrine. The two positions are not merely thematically related. Their map placement follows the game’s broader shrine-Lightroot correspondence, with Yikot Lightroot appearing directly below Tokiy Shrine.

The surface entrance to the relevant area is Oakle’s Navel Cave, near Oakle’s Navel. The cave entrance is reported at roughly 2504, -2107, 0007, while other guides give nearby readings around 2502, -2094, 0009. These differences reflect map positioning and guide measurement rather than separate entrances.

The first entry is the Depths location covered by this guide. Tokiy Shrine, Oakle’s Navel and Oakle’s Navel Cave are the directly corresponding surface entries. They are listed separately because they are not the same map layer or location type.

Access and routes

Reaching Yikot Lightroot from the Depths

The usual way to reach Yikot Lightroot is to enter the Depths through a nearby chasm, then travel across the dark terrain using Brightbloom Seeds, vehicles or existing Lightroots. The exact route depends on which chasm and Lightroots have already been discovered.

Once Yikot Lightroot is visible, approach it through the surrounding terrain and activate it at the base. Activation:

Yikot Lightroot is particularly useful as a navigation marker because it gives a convenient underground travel point beneath the Tokiy Shrine area. It is also useful when moving between the Necluda Depths and other central or eastern Depths routes.

Reaching the surface counterpart

The surface shrine is not reached by digging directly upwards from the Lightroot. Although the shrine and Lightroot correspond on the map, the cave entrance is offset from the shrine itself. The surface route is:

A nearby Skyview Tower can assist with the approach. Guides commonly identify Rabella Wetlands Skyview Tower as a useful starting point for gliding towards the Oakle’s Navel area.

The Oakle’s Navel Cave Crystal

The main activity associated with Yikot Lightroot is technically on the surface. The Oakle’s Navel Cave Crystal is a shrine quest that begins when Link examines the green crystal inside Oakle’s Navel Cave. The quest’s objective is to carry the crystal to the hidden shrine location.

The crystal is reported at approximately 2449, -2190, -0028, while the cave entrance is around 2505, -2101, 0009. Treat these as navigation references rather than exact collision points.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Enter Oakle’s Navel Cave. The cave entrance is near the Oakle’s Navel surface landmark. Follow the passage until you reach the green crystal.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Examine the crystal. Interacting with it starts The Oakle’s Navel Cave Crystal. A beam of light indicates the direction of the destination.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Carry the crystal through the first chamber. Large boulders fall through parts of the cave. You can carry the crystal manually, attach it to a vehicle with Ultrahand or briefly set it down while dealing with hazards.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Avoid the falling rocks. The first open room has boulders falling from different sides. Move cautiously rather than sprinting through the chamber. If a boulder blocks the route, wait for a safe opening or use Ultrahand to reposition it.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Continue into the narrower passage. After a drop, continue through the cave and watch for the route leading towards the shrine. The crystal’s light helps identify the correct direction, but the cave’s bends can make the destination appear misleadingly close.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Use Recall on the large boulder. A later narrow passage contains a large boulder moving down the route. Set the crystal down if necessary, then use Recall on the boulder to send it back up the passage. This creates a safe opportunity to move the crystal onwards.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Place the crystal at the shrine site. Carry the crystal to the destination and place it at the indicated point. Tokiy Shrine appears once the offering is accepted.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Enter Tokiy Shrine. Activating the shrine establishes another fast-travel point on the surface. The shrine itself contains no conventional puzzle or combat trial because it is a Rauru’s Blessing shrine.

Tokiy Shrine rewards

Tokiy Shrine is classified as Rauru’s Blessing. Once the crystal has been delivered, there is no internal shrine puzzle to solve.

The Large Zonai Charge is useful for temporarily extending or restoring Zonai-device energy. The Light of Blessing can be exchanged at a Goddess Statue, in groups of four, for either a heart container or a stamina vessel.

Nearby connections

Tokiy Shrine

Tokiy Shrine is the direct surface counterpart of Yikot Lightroot. Its name is the reverse of “Yikot”, matching the game’s deliberate naming relationship between many surface shrines and Depths Lightroots.

Oakle’s Navel Cave

This is the cave containing the crystal quest and the concealed shrine. It is the most important surface connection and should be considered part of the practical Yikot Lightroot route, while remaining a separate location in the game’s geography.

Oakle’s Navel

Oakle’s Navel is the surface landmark associated with the cave entrance. It is not the name of the shrine, the Lightroot or the shrine quest.

Wider Necluda Depths

The surrounding underground terrain contains the ordinary hazards of the Depths, including gloom, cliffs, darkness and potentially hostile encounters. However, available location-specific evidence does not establish a unique enemy camp, treasure inventory, named character or special facility belonging specifically to Yikot Lightroot. The surrounding Depths should therefore not be presented as if all of their content were part of the Lightroot itself.

Enemies and hazards

Confirmed hazards in the associated surface route

The falling boulders are the route’s defining hazard. Ultrahand and Recall are the most reliable tools for managing them.

Depths hazards

At Yikot Lightroot itself, the general Depths hazards remain relevant:

No reliable source consulted here identifies a named boss or fixed enemy camp as a component of Yikot Lightroot itself. Random or ordinary Depths encounters should not be confused with a location-specific boss encounter.

Residents, services and buildings

Yikot Lightroot has no verified residents, shops, businesses, buildings or formal services beyond the Lightroot’s own illumination and fast-travel functions.

Directory: people and organisations

The shrine quest may be associated with an unexplained guiding voice or quest prompt in the cave, but this does not establish a resident or named NPC at Yikot Lightroot. Tokiy Shrine’s page records the quest and its crystal objective, not a permanent settlement or character roster.

Items not confirmed as location-specific

The available sources consulted do not establish a dedicated Yikot Lightroot inventory of:

This is not evidence that the wider surrounding Depths contain none of these categories. It means they should not be attributed to Yikot Lightroot without a separate, location-specific source.

Progression and missability

Yikot Lightroot and Tokiy Shrine are available as ordinary base-game exploration content. The shrine quest is not presented as permanently missable, and the crystal remains available until delivered.

There is no evidence that completing Tokiy Shrine changes Yikot Lightroot itself beyond normal map and travel progression.
