Key takeaways
- Ikatak Shrine is at approximately -3950, 1138, 0112, on the edge of Gisa Crater Other map references place it within a few coordinate units of this position.
- Its trial is Rauru’s Blessing, so there is no internal puzzle or combat trial once the shrine has been unlocked.
- The associated shrine quest is The Gisa Crater Crystal.
- The crystal is inside Gisa Crater Cave, below the crater The cave route includes ordinary enemies and a room guarded by two Ice Likes.
- The simplest solution is to attach two nearby rockets to the crystal, aim it towards the cave opening and activate the rockets.
- The shrine chest contains a Big Battery, and completion grants one Light of Blessing.

This guide covers the base-game version of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It includes Ikatak Shrine, its shrine quest, the relevant part of Gisa Crater and Gisa Crater Cave, but not the wider Tabantha Frontier or nearby locations such as Tabantha Bridge Stable.
Introduction
Ikatak Shrine is a Shrine of Light in the western part of Hyrule’s Tabantha Frontier. It sits beside Gisa Crater, south of Rito Village and west of Nero Hill. Unlike a conventional puzzle shrine, Ikatak Shrine is a Rauru’s Blessing shrine. The main challenge takes place outside the shrine, in the crater and the connected Gisa Crater Cave.
Activating the shrine begins The Gisa Crater Crystal, a shrine quest. Link must descend into the crater area, find the shrine crystal in the cave and use Zonai devices to launch it back to the surface. Once the crystal reaches the shrine, the shrine opens as a short reward chamber containing a Big Battery and a Light of Blessing.
Location and boundaries
Ikatak Shrine belongs to the Tabantha Frontier rather than Rito Village itself. Rito Village is a useful nearby destination and landmark, but it is not part of the shrine’s immediate location. The shrine stands south of the village, on the western side of Hyrule, near Gisa Crater.
For the purposes of this guide, the relevant area has three layers:
The wider Tabantha Frontier, Rito Village, Tabantha Bridge Stable, Nero Hill and the other surrounding landmarks are neighbouring places and navigation references, not subareas of Ikatak Shrine.
Named local areas and landmarks
The crater is the most important navigational feature. If the shrine is not yet active, its shape and appearance can be less obvious from a distance, so approaching from the crater side or using the shrine’s approximate coordinates is more reliable than looking only for the usual illuminated shrine beam.
---
Location and boundaries: steps
- 01Ikatak Shrine itself, the stone shrine structure on the crater rim.
- 02Gisa Crater, the open surface depression surrounding the shrine.
- 03Gisa Crater Cave, the underground route where the crystal is found.

Getting there
From Tabantha Bridge Stable
This is one of the most direct ground approaches.
This route is useful if you are travelling through western Hyrule on foot or on horseback. It also gives a clear view of the crater rim before you begin the shrine quest.
From Rospro Pass Skyview Tower
Rospro Pass Skyview Tower is north of the shrine and provides a convenient aerial approach.
This route is especially practical if the tower has already been activated. It is also a useful method for reaching the region from the northern side without following the roads.
From Rito Village
Ikatak Shrine is south of Rito Village. You can travel overland from the village, or launch from a nearby high point if you have suitable stamina and the Paraglider. Do not confuse Ikatak Shrine with Gatakis Shrine, which is the shrine associated with Rito Village itself. The names are similar, but they are different shrines in different immediate locations.
Recommended equipment
The quest does not require a particular story ability or a special armour set. However, the following are useful:
The rocket solution uses the devices already found near the crystal, so a large battery reserve is not normally necessary.
---
From Tabantha Bridge Stable
- 01Travel towards the bridge and road leading away from Tabantha Bridge Stable.
- 02Continue towards the broken stone pillar in the direction of Gisa Crater.
- 03Use the pillar as a landmark.
- 04Climb or descend along the rocky ground to the left.
- 05The crater and Ikatak Shrine should come into view ahead.
From Rospro Pass Skyview Tower
- 01Launch from Rospro Pass Skyview Tower.
- 02Glide south or south-west towards the Tabantha Frontier.
- 03Use the crater and the surrounding open ground to correct your position.
- 04Land near the shrine rather than dropping directly into the cave.
The Gisa Crater Crystal
Activating Ikatak Shrine starts The Gisa Crater Crystal. A green beam indicates the general direction of the crystal. The objective is not to solve a puzzle inside the shrine. Instead, Link must retrieve the crystal from the cave and carry it back to the shrine entrance.
Alternative solutions
The rockets are the intended local solution, but Ultrahand and Zonai construction allow alternatives. Players may attach the crystal to a vehicle, use a hot-air balloon arrangement, or build another device capable of lifting it through the cave opening. A hot-air-balloon solution is specifically noted as an alternative approach in shrine guides.
The important requirement is that the crystal reaches the shrine. The game does not require one exact construction.
Crystal quest directory
The Mysterious Voice is associated with the shrine quest rather than functioning as a resident or ordinary NPC in the crater settlement sense. No permanent settlement, shop or named civilian population belongs to Ikatak Shrine’s immediate area.

Walkthrough
- 01Activate Ikatak Shrine. Examine the shrine to begin The Gisa Crater Crystal.
Walkthrough
- 01Follow the beam towards the crater. The crystal is below the surface, in Gisa Crater Cave.
Walkthrough
- 01Find the cave entrance. Break through the rocks south of the shrine. The entrance is associated with the crater floor and may require ordinary mining tools, Bomb Flowers or another suitable method of clearing rock.
Walkthrough
- 01Drop into Gisa Crater Cave. Use a safe descent. If you have not yet located the route, follow the cave passage rather than trying to climb directly through the walls.
Walkthrough
- 01Deal with the cave enemies. Enemies occupy parts of the route. You may defeat them or move past them where the terrain allows.
Walkthrough
- 01Reach the crystal chamber. The crystal is guarded by two Ice Likes. Defeat them, freeze or otherwise control them, or use Ultrahand to take hold of the crystal from a safer position if the angle permits.
Walkthrough
- 01Bring the crystal to the central area. Place it where the nearby Zonai devices can be attached without the crystal scraping against the cave walls.
Walkthrough
- 01Attach two rockets. Fix the rockets to opposite sides or to positions that will give the crystal a generally upward trajectory. The exact attachment angle is forgiving, provided the rockets are aimed towards the exit.
Walkthrough
- 01Activate the rockets. Strike the rockets or use another method of turning them on. The crystal should be propelled out of the cave.
Walkthrough
- 01Leave the cave. Use Ascend where possible, or follow the cave route back to the surface.
Walkthrough
- 01Carry the crystal to Ikatak Shrine. Return to the shrine entrance with the crystal. The shrine quest completes when the crystal is placed into the shrine.
Walkthrough
- 01Enter the shrine. The green shrine structure becomes active and the interior is accessible.
Crystal quest directory
Shrine interior: Rauru’s Blessing
Once the crystal has been returned, Ikatak Shrine becomes a short Rauru’s Blessing chamber.
There is no combat trial, timed puzzle or device puzzle inside. Follow the central path, open the chest and examine the altar at the far end. The interior is a simple void-like room with a central platform and a chest.
Shrine inventory
The Big Battery is a Zonai device capsule item. It temporarily provides additional energy capacity when used with Zonai devices, making it useful for vehicles and flying machines. The Light of Blessing contributes towards increasing Link’s maximum hearts or stamina at a Goddess Statue.
Shrine interior directory
The Rauru and Sonia Statue is the shrine’s reward altar. It is not a separate settlement landmark or a permanently accessible regional structure outside the shrine.
---
Shrine inventory
| Location | Item | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Central platform | Big Battery | The shrine’s only treasure chest |
| Altar at the end of the chamber | Light of Blessing | Granted after interacting with the altar |
Enemies and hazards
The main hazards are found in Gisa Crater Cave rather than inside the completed shrine.
Ice Likes
Two Ice Likes guard the crystal chamber. They can be dangerous in the confined cave because their ice-based attacks can freeze Link and create an opening for further damage. Fire-based attacks are useful, although the most important practical objective is simply to reach and move the crystal safely.
If you would rather avoid a prolonged fight, approach carefully and use Ultrahand when the crystal can be targeted from outside the enemies’ immediate range. This is not a requirement, but it can reduce the risk of being frozen while carrying the crystal.
Cave enemies
Additional enemies can appear along the route through the cave. They are ordinary encounters rather than a named boss or a unique shrine guardian. Bring healing items and a weapon that can break cave obstacles.
Environmental risks
There is no verified unique boss, treasure-hunting mechanic or timed escape sequence associated with Ikatak Shrine.
---
Practical route and construction advice
The safest method is to treat the crystal as cargo rather than trying to fight while holding it.
If the rockets are wasted, do not assume the quest is permanently blocked. Explore the nearby area for additional Zonai devices or use your own materials and a different construction. The quest objective is delivery, not preservation of a particular pair of rockets.
---
Practical route and construction advice: steps
- 01Clear or bypass the enemies first.
- 02Bring the crystal to a broad, open section of the cave.
- 03Position the rockets before activating them.
- 04Aim slightly towards the opening rather than straight into a wall.
- 05Keep the shrine entrance in mind so that the crystal does not travel in the wrong direction after leaving the cave.
- 06If the crystal lands nearby, retrieve it with Ultrahand instead of rebuilding immediately.
Nearby connections
Ikatak Shrine is useful as a fast-travel point for the western Tabantha Frontier, but it is not itself a hub with services.
Nearby named places
The nearest shrine reference commonly used by map guides is Makurukis Shrine, near Tabantha Bridge Stable. Ikatak Shrine’s own coordinates are more useful once you are close to Gisa Crater.
---
Nearby named places
| Name | Details |
|---|---|
| Tabantha Bridge Stable | A practical road reference and an overland approach. |
| Rito Village | The main settlement to the north, associated with the Tabantha regional storyline. |
| Rospro Pass Skyview Tower | A strong aerial launch point. |
| Nero Hill | A nearby surface landmark east of the shrine. |
| Strock Lake | A regional landmark east of the shrine. |
| Cuho Mountain | A northern-western navigation reference. |
| Kataki Lightroot | The corresponding Depths location, separate from the surface shrine. |
Residents, services and facilities
Ikatak Shrine has no permanent residents, settlement administration, shop, inn, stable, guard post or law-enforcement facility. The only named quest-associated presence is the Mysterious Voice connected with The Gisa Crater Crystal.
Not part of the shrine area
These places are useful connections, but they should not be treated as subareas of Ikatak Shrine.
---
Functional facilities
| Name | Details |
|---|---|
| Ikatak Shrine | fast travel after activation |
| Shrine chest | Big Battery |
| Shrine altar | Light of Blessing |
| Gisa Crater Cave | quest location and enemy area |
Not part of the shrine area
Progression and missability
Ikatak Shrine can be completed once you can reach the Tabantha Frontier, enter the crater and use the necessary basic abilities. The shrine quest does not require a specific regional phenomenon to be completed, and there is no known permanent missability trigger in the base game.
The shrine’s interior content is fixed. The cave enemy encounters and the player’s construction solution are not the same thing as a procedural shrine layout. The crystal, chest and reward are fixed quest content.
---
The main progression states are
| State | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Shrine not activated | Locate the crater and shrine structure |
| Shrine activated, quest incomplete | Follow the beam and retrieve the crystal |
| Crystal returned | Enter the Rauru’s Blessing chamber |
| Shrine completed | Fast-travel to Ikatak Shrine and use the reward |
