About this guide

Spoiler warning: This guide discusses the Hebra regional quest, the tower’s activation puzzle, the route through Rospro Pass, and the nearby side quest The Blocked Cave.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Scope: base game, Surface location and its immediate named surroundings

Introduction

Rospro Pass Skyview Tower stands on the snowy climbing route north-west of Rito Village, between the Hebra Trailhead Lodge, the mountain road through Rospro Pass, and the Flight Range. It is the Skyview Tower responsible for revealing much of north-western Hebra’s Surface and Sky map. The tower is not difficult to activate, but its entrance is surrounded by thorny vines that must be burned away first.

The tower is best understood as part of a small travel corridor rather than as an isolated building. Its immediate setting includes the lower trail around the Hebra Trailhead Lodge, the ascent through Rospro Pass, Rospro Pass Cave, and the roads leading towards the Flight Range and Rito Village. The wider Hebra Mountains contain many additional locations, but they are not automatically part of Rospro Pass itself and are treated here as neighbouring destinations or connections.

Location and boundaries

Rospro Pass Skyview Tower is in the Hebra Mountains, on a high snowy route north of Rito Village. It lies above the lower trailhead area and is reached by climbing through the pass rather than by following a flat road directly to the tower. The tower is described as being between the Flight Range and Rospro Pass, while practical walkthroughs place it just north-west of the Hebra Trailhead Lodge.

For this guide, the location is divided into four connected areas:

Tower approach

This is the immediate snowy slope, ladder route and climbing path leading from the Hebra Trailhead Lodge towards the tower. It contains the ordinary hazards of the pass, including ice-based enemies and monster activity.

Rospro Pass

Rospro Pass is the mountain route itself. In Tears of the Kingdom, it functions as one of the approaches towards the higher Hebra region and the tower. It is not the same thing as the tower, the lodge or the cave, although all four locations are closely connected.

Rospro Pass Skyview Tower

The tower compound is the small summit installation surrounded by thorns. Its terminal is inside the structure. Once activated, Link launches from the tower and registers it as a travel point.

Rospro Pass Cave

This is a separate cave entrance in the pass. It is initially sealed by hard sediment and is the focus of The Blocked Cave. The cave should not be counted as part of the tower interior or as a generic unnamed cavern.

Neighbouring places and connections

The following locations are important to navigation but are not part of the tower compound.

Rito Village

Rito Village is the main settlement to the south-west and the most important staging point for the Hebra regional storyline. From the village, Link is directed towards the Hebra Trailhead Lodge while investigating Tulin’s disappearance and the effects of the blizzard.

The route from Rito Village passes through the lodge and continues up the mountain road. Because the lodge is a story stop during Tulin of Rito Village, it is usually the most useful landmark for players approaching the tower for the first time.

Flight Range

The Flight Range lies in the wider Hebra Mountains, in the direction of the tower’s northern and north-eastern connections. It is a Rito training centre. In Tears of the Kingdom, Kaneli operates it as a training facility for young Rito warriors, and it later supports the Flight Training mini-game.

Although the Flight Range is geographically close and is mentioned in descriptions of the tower’s position, it is a separate named location with its own activities, resident and rewards.

Hebra South Summit Cave

Hebra South Summit Cave is reached from the lodge and mountain road during the early stages of the Rito quest. Harth explains that Tulin has gone there with Gesane and Laissa to search for food. It is therefore a story-connected destination, but it is not part of Rospro Pass Cave or the Skyview Tower.

Named directory: neighbouring connections

The last two entries belong to the wider Hebra travel network rather than to the tower itself. Dronoc’s Pass is associated with the Flight Range, while Rito Village is the principal settlement connection.

Getting to Rospro Pass Skyview Tower

Before leaving Rito Village or the Hebra Trailhead Lodge, prepare for the cold.

The tower area is a freezing snowy environment. Cold Resistance is useful not only at the tower but also on the route through the pass and at nearby high-altitude locations. The tower itself does not require a special quest item or dungeon completion before activation.

Route from Rito Village

A practical route follows the same broad path used during the Rito storyline. The lodge, bonfires and climbing route make useful visual markers, while the tower becomes visible from parts of the upper pass.

Route from Rito Village

  1. 01
Leave Rito Village and travel towards the Hebra Trailhead Lodge.
  2. 02
Use the lodge as a safe landmark before beginning the climb.
  3. 03
Look for the ladder and mountain path near the lodge.
  4. 04
Follow the snowy route uphill into Rospro Pass.
  5. 05
Continue towards the tower compound, climbing around rock faces or using ladders where necessary.
  6. 06
Deal with any monsters on the road or bypass them if your priority is simply to reach the tower.
  7. 07
Burn the thorns surrounding the tower entrance.
  8. 08
Enter the tower and activate the terminal.
  9. 09
Use the launch sequence to reveal the regional map.

Activating the tower

Rospro Pass Skyview Tower is surrounded by thorny vines. Link cannot simply walk through them, and climbing around the compound can be awkward because of the snow and steep terrain. The intended solution is to burn the thorns.

Reliable methods

Fire Fruit is generally the quickest option because it can be thrown directly at the obstruction. Once the thorns have burned away, walk through the entrance and activate the terminal. The tower then launches Link and reveals the surrounding Surface and Sky map.

What activation changes

The tower does not reveal every shrine, cave or collectible automatically as completed content. It gives the player the regional map and a useful aerial launch point. Exploration, shrine discovery and cave mapping still need to be carried out separately.

---

What activation changes: Activation provides two lasting benefits

  1. 01
The relevant section of the map is filled in.
  2. 02
The tower becomes a fast-travel destination.

The Hebra Trailhead Lodge

The Hebra Trailhead Lodge is the lower, more practical base for the Rospro Pass ascent. It stands at the southern end of the pass and contains a sheltered interior. In the broader series, the lodge also appears in Breath of the Wild and Age of Calamity, but those continuities should be kept separate from the Tears of the Kingdom version.

In Tears of the Kingdom, the lodge is particularly significant because Harth can be found there during Tulin of Rito Village. Harth provides information about Tulin’s movements and points Link towards the Hebra South Summit Cave. The lodge therefore serves both as a route landmark and as a story checkpoint.

The lodge also contains the Rito Records, a book describing the legend of the Stormwind Ark and the Rito’s traditional account of a figure who fell from the sky and helped them construct flying ships. This is a lore object rather than a quest item.

Services and facilities

The available lodge features should be distinguished from the tower’s functions:

Do not assume that the lodge provides every service associated with a settlement. Its main value in Tears of the Kingdom is story guidance, shelter and navigation.

Named directory: lodge features and associated characters

Harth, Tulin, Gesane and Laissa are story-associated characters in the Rito quest. They should not be treated as permanent residents of the Skyview Tower area merely because they travel through it.

Rospro Pass Cave and The Blocked Cave

Rospro Pass Cave is a separate cave in the pass. Its entrance is blocked by hard sediment when Link first encounters it. The cave is connected to the side quest The Blocked Cave, which begins with Mazli.

Mazli was hauling food supplies from the cave when a cave-in blocked the entrance. Link must break through the obstruction, allowing Mazli to regain access. The quest reward is a Red Rupee.

Walkthrough: The Blocked Cave

A rock-breaking weapon is the simplest solution. A hammer, a weapon fused with a rock-type material or an explosive option can clear the sediment. Use explosives cautiously in a confined space, especially if you are carrying materials you do not want to destroy.

The cave contains environmental resources and a Bubbulfrog. Its documented inhabitants and materials include Glowing Cave Fish, Sticky Lizards, Bomb Flowers and Brightbloom Seeds. These are fixed cave resources or cave-associated finds, not services supplied by the lodge or tower.

Named directory: Rospro Pass Cave

The Red Rupee is the verified quest reward for The Blocked Cave. The cave’s ordinary materials should be treated as exploration resources rather than guaranteed reward chests unless a specific container is independently confirmed.

---

Walkthrough: The Blocked Cave

  1. 01
Find Mazli on the Rospro Pass route.
  2. 02
Speak to him to begin The Blocked Cave.
  3. 03
Locate the nearby Rospro Pass Cave entrance.
  4. 04
Break the hard sediment blocking the entrance.
  5. 05
Return to Mazli or complete the interaction that follows the obstruction being cleared.
  6. 06
    Receive the Red Rupee reward.

Enemies and hazards

The main hazard is environmental rather than mechanical.

Freezing weather

The snow around Rospro Pass can inflict cold damage without suitable protection. The same issue affects the lodge approach, the mountain road and other high Hebra locations. Carrying one cold-resistant meal is better than relying on finding a fire after the climb has already begun.

Thorny vines

The vines around the tower block the entrance. They are flammable, so avoid wasting time trying to force a route through them. Fire Fruit is the most convenient solution, though other flame methods work.

Monster encounters

The route through Rospro Pass can contain Ice Chuchus and Bokoblins, including a monster camp along the road. These encounters are not the tower’s activation puzzle, and they can be fought, avoided or approached from above.

Slippery climbing

Snow, rain and steep rock make direct climbing unreliable. Use ladders, ledges and the established route where possible. If you must climb, conserve stamina and consider using food that restores or extends it.

Cave hazards

Rospro Pass Cave begins with hard sediment blocking the entrance. Once inside, darkness, breakable terrain and cave creatures become more important than the outside weather. Brightbloom Seeds are useful if you have not already activated nearby light sources.

Named directory: verified hazards and hostile encounters

The documented route descriptions specifically identify Ice Chuchus and Bokoblins on the ascent. Other enemies may appear depending on the wider game state or ordinary encounter rules, but they should not be presented as guaranteed tower occupants without separate evidence.

Missions and activities

Tulin of Rito Village

This is the major storyline associated with the area. After speaking with the Rito in Rito Village, Link is directed towards Harth at the Hebra Trailhead Lodge. Harth explains that Tulin has gone towards Hebra South Summit Cave while the Rito deal with the blizzard and food shortages.

The tower is not the final objective of this main quest, but activating it is highly useful. The revealed map makes the mountain route, caves and sky approaches easier to read, and the tower provides a convenient travel point for returning to Hebra.

The Blocked Cave

This side quest is given by Mazli near Rospro Pass. It requires clearing the hard sediment from Rospro Pass Cave and rewards a Red Rupee.

Flight Training

Flight Training takes place at the separate Flight Range. It becomes available after Tulin of Rito Village and Kaneli’s Flight Training. The activity is connected to the broader Hebra region, not to the tower compound itself.

Lore and series continuity

Rospro Pass and the Hebra Trailhead Lodge are recurring locations across the modern Zelda games. Rospro Pass appears in both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, with the earlier game also using names such as the Hebra Mountain Climbing Path and Snowy Mountain Climbing Path. The lodge likewise appears in both games, while Age of Calamity presents its own non-canon continuity.

The lodge’s Rito Records provide the strongest local lore connection in Tears of the Kingdom. They preserve the Stormwind Ark tradition and link the modern Rito story to the older history of flying ships and sky-borne intervention. This makes the lodge more than a route marker: it is a small archive of Rito history positioned at the foot of the mountain route.

The Skyview Tower itself belongs to the new Hudson Construction network established across Hyrule. Unlike the ancient Sheikah Towers seen in Breath of the Wild, these towers are associated with the post-Calamity surveying effort and Purah’s mapping project. Their practical role is to scan the Surface and Sky regions and provide fast travel after activation.
