Key takeaways
- Shoot the Aerocuda carrying the terminal, then return the terminal to Sawson and place it back in the tower.
- A bow with a Keese Eyeball fused to an arrow is the easiest way to hit the moving target, though an ordinary well-aimed arrow also works.
- Activating the tower reveals the surrounding Akkala Surface and Sky map data and creates a permanent fast-travel point outside the tower.
- The wider Ulri Mountain area contains a Blue Boss Bokoblin camp, other Bokoblins and Moblins, materials, wildlife and a stranded-Korok route leading towards East Akkala Beach.
- The tower is especially useful for reaching nearby sky content and for travelling towards shrines and landmarks in north-eastern Akkala.
- Do not confuse the tower’s immediate compound with the whole Ulri Mountain area, or with Tarrey Town, East Akkala Stable, Akkala Ancient Tech Lab and the various caves and ruins further away.

Overview
Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower is the Skyview Tower at the summit of Ulri Mountain in the Akkala Highlands. It stands north-east of South Akkala Stable and north-west of Tarrey Town, making it a useful early or mid-game launch point for exploring northern Akkala. Unlike towers that require a cave detour, a power repair or a complicated construction, Ulri Mountain’s problem is immediately visible: an Aerocuda has stolen the tower’s terminal and is flying around the tower with it.
The tower itself is a small, self-contained location. However, “Ulri Mountain” is a wider outdoor area containing enemies, wildlife, materials, a Korok challenge and connections towards Sinatanika Shrine, East Akkala and the roads around Tarrey Town. This guide therefore treats the tower compound and the surrounding Ulri Mountain area separately, rather than treating every nearby Akkala location as part of the tower.
What counts as the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower location?
The tower compound
This is the portion involved in the tower’s repair sequence. The tower does not contain a settlement, shop, stable, well or permanent group of ordinary residents. Sawson is present because of the repair job, not because Ulri Mountain is a populated village.
The wider Ulri Mountain area
The mountain is a larger grassy highland surrounding the tower. It extends across the slopes and open ground towards East Akkala and the roads north and south of the mountain. It contains natural resources, wildlife, enemy patrols and at least one Korok friend-delivery challenge. The area is part of Akkala Highlands, but it is not equivalent to the entire Akkala Highlands region.
The following places are best treated as neighbours or connected destinations, not as subdivisions of the tower itself:
This boundary matters because regional shrine lists often group a broad “Ulri Mountain” map area together. Those lists can include shrines several kilometres away from the tower, including shrines in East Akkala or on the far side of the regional map.

Geography and approach
Ulri Mountain is a high, grassy rise in north-eastern Hyrule. From the tower, the terrain falls away towards the surrounding Akkala plains, making the location easy to recognise once the tower is visible. The tower’s position is north-east of South Akkala Stable and north-west of Tarrey Town.
The simplest land approach is to follow the roads through Akkala Highlands and climb towards the summit. If you are already near Tarrey Town, travel north-west across the highlands. From South Akkala Stable, head north-east towards the mountain. The tower can also be reached by gliding from a nearby elevation, although approaching on foot gives you a better chance to collect materials and identify enemy camps before starting the repair.
Suggested approach route
- 01Prepare a bow and several arrows. A fast-moving aerial enemy is involved, so a reliable bow is more useful than a heavy melee weapon.
Suggested approach route
- 01Approach the tower from the lower slopes. Look for Sawson near the structure. He will draw attention to the Aerocuda.
Suggested approach route
- 01Inspect the flight path before firing. The Aerocuda circles around the tower rather than hovering still. Wait until it comes across an open section of sky.
Suggested approach route
- 01Use a homing arrow if available. Fusing a Keese Eyeball to an arrow makes the shot considerably more forgiving.
Suggested approach route
- 01Collect the terminal immediately after it falls. The terminal is a physical object. Pick it up or use Ultrahand to move it.
Suggested approach route
- 01Return it to Sawson and the tower. Once the terminal is installed, Sawson completes the repair and the tower becomes usable.
Unlocking the tower: full walkthrough
1. Speak to Sawson
When Link reaches the tower before activation, Sawson is standing outside and looking upwards. He explains that he was sent to repair the tower, but an Aerocuda has taken the terminal. The terminal is the small device needed to operate the tower’s launch and mapping system.
2. Find the Aerocuda
The Aerocuda flies around the tower with the terminal attached to it. The creature’s movement is predictable enough to observe, but it can be difficult to hit with an unassisted arrow because it moves quickly and changes direction in the air.
A Keese Eyeball-fused arrow is the safest option. If you do not have one, stand where the Aerocuda’s circular route brings it towards you, draw the bow early and release as it passes through the reticle.
3. Shoot it down
You do not need to defeat a boss or complete a separate combat arena. One successful arrow is enough to make the Aerocuda drop the terminal. The Aerocuda itself is the encounter’s enemy, while the terminal is the actual objective.
4. Retrieve the terminal
The terminal falls to the ground after the Aerocuda is hit. Use Ultrahand if it lands awkwardly or on uneven ground. Carry it back towards the tower.
5. Install the terminal
Bring the terminal to Sawson and place it into the tower’s equipment. The repair sequence then completes. Once activation is finished, the tower scans its region and becomes a fast-travel location.
6. Launch and scan
Use the launch mechanism to send Link into the air. The Purah Pad records the surrounding Surface and Sky map information during the launch. The tower also adds an active Travel Point outside the entrance, allowing Link to return later by fast travel.
What the tower reveals
Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower contributes map information for the surrounding Akkala area and the Akkala Sky. It is one of the fifteen Skyview Towers built across Hyrule by Hudson Construction. Skyview Towers are not ordinary lookout points: their terminals register fast-travel access and allow the Purah Pad to scan regional map data.
The exact amount of map revealed depends on what has already been scanned, but activating the tower is still valuable even if Link has explored some of the surrounding terrain manually. It also gives you a high launch point for gliding towards nearby sky islands, geoglyph-related locations and other elevated destinations.
Named characters and organisations
Sawson
Sawson is the Hudson Construction worker assigned to repair Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower. He is the only named character directly associated with the tower’s activation sequence. He remains a repair worker and does not operate a shop, stable or other ongoing service at the location.
Hudson Construction
Hudson Construction built the Skyview Towers and is responsible for their maintenance. The tower’s condition at the start of the game reflects the organisation’s ongoing effort to restore Hyrule’s surveying network after the Upheaval. Tarrey Town is the company’s major nearby base, but Tarrey Town itself is a separate settlement and should not be included in the tower’s boundaries.

Enemies and hazards
Aerocuda
The Aerocuda carrying the terminal is the tower’s mandatory encounter. It is a flying enemy rather than a boss, and the encounter ends when it drops the terminal. The Aerocuda can be hit with ordinary arrows, although a Keese Eyeball fusion improves accuracy.
Ulri Mountain enemies
The wider mountain has a more substantial enemy population than the tower platform itself. The named enemy types documented for the area include:
The most notable group is a Blue Boss Bokoblin accompanied by several Blue Bokoblins at the northern end of the wider Ulri Mountain area. Treat this as an outdoor combat encounter rather than part of the tower’s repair quest.
Practical hazards
Ulri Mountain is not defined by an extreme climate hazard in the way some parts of Eldin or the Gerudo Highlands are. The main practical risks are:
Items, materials and wildlife
The open grassland around Ulri Mountain provides ordinary field-gathering opportunities. Documented materials and wildlife include the following.
Materials and collectables
These are surface finds and ordinary regional resources, not guaranteed rewards from the tower activation. Their availability can vary as the area reloads and as materials are collected.
Wildlife
These are wildlife encounters in the wider mountain area rather than residents of the tower. They should not be confused with enemies or named characters.
Korok activity
At the far north-eastern end of the wider Ulri Mountain area, west of Sinatanika Shrine, Link can find a Korok who wants to reunite with a friend. Carry the Korok to its companion near East Akkala Beach to receive two Korok Seeds. This is a travelling Korok task, not a puzzle contained within the tower compound.
Nearby shrines and connections
The tower’s launch point is useful for reaching several Akkala destinations, but not all of them fall within the strict Ulri Mountain boundary.
Sinatanika Shrine
Sinatanika Shrine lies just north-east of the Ulri Mountain area and is one of the nearest named shrines to the tower. Its shrine trial is Combat Training: Sneakstrike. Because it is close to the mountain, the tower is a practical fast-travel point when approaching the shrine from the south or west.
Wider Akkala shrine network
Regional guides group the following shrines into the broad Ulri Mountain or Akkala Highlands map area:
These are not all within the immediate tower area. They are listed here as connected regional destinations only. Domizuin Shrine, for example, is associated with Akkala Citadel Ruins, while Gemimik Shrine is much farther east. Regional shrine lists use a broad map division rather than the tower’s physical footprint.
Wider Akkala shrine network
Sky access and exploration
Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower is a useful launch point for sky exploration over north-eastern Hyrule. From the launch, Link can glide towards nearby sky islands, although distance, stamina and the direction of the wind remain important. The tower’s launch can also be used as a starting point for investigating sky-island objectives and falling ancient tablets.
One documented example is an ancient tablet that can be approached from Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower or Natak Shrine. These tablets are part of the wider “Messages from an Ancient Era” activity and are not a tower quest reward.
Suggested post-activation route
- 01Activate the tower and scan the region.
- 02Glide towards the nearest visible sky island if you have enough stamina.
- 03Return to the tower and travel north-east towards Sinatanika Shrine.
- 04Continue towards the northern Ulri Mountain enemy camp only if you are ready for a Blue Boss Bokoblin encounter.
- 05Explore the East Akkala side of the mountain for the Korok friend-delivery route.
- 06Use Tarrey Town or East Akkala Stable as separate resupply and travel destinations.
Progression and missability
The tower’s repair is not permanently missable. If Link leaves after speaking to Sawson, the Aerocuda and terminal encounter remains available when he returns. There is no known story branch that removes the tower’s activation task from the base game.
Skyview Towers generally become relevant after Link returns to Lookout Landing and receives the Paraglider, but the Ulri Mountain repair itself is a local task rather than a dungeon gate. The tower can be approached as soon as the player can safely reach the Akkala Highlands and deal with the Aerocuda.
The following distinctions are important
| Situation | Effect |
|---|---|
| Tower not activated | No active fast travel at the tower and no local map scan |
| Aerocuda defeated but terminal not returned | The tower remains incomplete until the terminal is installed |
| Tower activated | Travel Point becomes available and the regional map is scanned |
| Wider mountain explored first | Does not prevent the tower quest |
| Nearby shrine completed | Does not alter the tower’s repair sequence |
| Tarrey Town visited | Provides nearby context but is not required for this tower |
