Overview
Sinatanika Shrine is a combat-training shrine in the Akkala Highlands. Its trial, Combat Training: Sneakstrike, teaches or tests Link’s ability to approach an enemy from behind and perform a sneakstrike. Unlike a conventional combat shrine, the challenge is not to defeat the enemy through normal attacks. The Construct can only be damaged by successful sneakstrikes during the trial.
The shrine stands in the northern part of the Akkala Highlands, north-east of Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower and near the edge of Higa Akkala Plain. It is an outdoor surface shrine rather than a cave, sky or quest-locked shrine. Its Depths counterpart is Akinatanis Lightroot, positioned almost directly below it.
Location and regional boundaries
Sinatanika Shrine belongs to the Akkala Highlands region of the surface map. It should not be confused with the nearby Deep Akkala shrines or with locations in the Akkala Sea. Nintendo Life’s regional shrine directory lists Sinatanika Shrine under Akkala Surface, separately from the shrines classified as Deep Akkala and Akkala Sea locations.
The shrine is positioned north-east of Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower, on the northern side of the highlands. The surrounding countryside is open terrain rather than a settlement, dungeon complex or named town. The shrine’s immediate surroundings therefore form part of the wider Akkala Highlands landscape, but they are not a separate shrine subarea.
Not part of Sinatanika Shrine
The following are nearby or regionally connected, but are separate locations:
Akinatanis Lightroot is a related underground counterpart, not an internal second floor of Sinatanika Shrine. It is located in the Depths and has its own map-lighting function and travel gate.

Reaching Sinatanika Shrine
The simplest route is to travel from Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower.
The shrine can also be reached on foot from the surrounding Akkala Highlands. No shrine quest, crystal escort or regional quest completion is required to open it. The main practical difficulty is terrain and distance rather than a locked entrance.
Recommended preparation
The shrine supplies the basic conditions for its own trial, but preparation outside the shrine can still help:
Stealth equipment is helpful but not mandatory. The shrine is designed to be completed using crouching, positioning and patience.
Reaching Sinatanika Shrine: steps
- 01Fast-travel to Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower if it has been activated.
- 02Launch from the tower and glide north-east.
- 03Look for the shrine on the surface in the Akkala Highlands.
- 04Land near the shrine entrance and activate it to create a fast-travel point.
- 05Enter the shrine when ready to begin the training trial.
Shrine layout and internal areas
Sinatanika Shrine is compact. It has no branching puzzle rooms, moving platforms, elemental hazards or boss arena.
The Construct initially stands in place. After Link lands the first sneakstrike, it begins moving around the chamber. This changes the trial from a simple approach exercise into a short observation challenge. The second sneakstrike opens the way to the shrine’s final room.
Walkthrough: Combat Training: Sneakstrike
Before approaching the Construct
Enter the shrine and move towards the training area. Do not attack immediately. The shrine’s instruction is to stay behind the enemy and strike without being noticed.
Press the crouch command to make Link move quietly. While crouching, approach the Construct from the rear. Avoid running, jumping or moving directly through its field of view.
First sneakstrike
The first successful sneakstrike causes the Construct to begin patrolling. This is not a normal combat transition. The trial still expects stealth, and ordinary attacks are not an alternative solution.
Second sneakstrike
After the second successful sneakstrike, the route to the end of the shrine opens. Proceed through the newly available passage and collect the chest before entering the final chamber.
What happens if Link is detected?
If the Construct notices Link, the shrine resets the attempt and returns him to the starting position. This means that detection is not merely a warning state. It costs progress in the current attempt.
The trial is generally more reliable when the player watches the enemy first rather than immediately trying to reach its back.
First sneakstrike
- 01Crouch before entering the Construct’s detection range.
- 02Move behind it while remaining out of sight.
- 03Wait until the sneakstrike prompt appears.
- 04Attack when the prompt is available.
- 05Confirm that the first sneakstrike connects.
Second sneakstrike
- 01Watch the Construct’s movement pattern.
- 02Keep crouching and circle around the arena rather than following directly behind it.
- 03Move into position when its back is turned.
- 04Wait for the sneakstrike prompt.
- 05Attack from behind a second time.
What happens if Link is detected?: If this happens
- 01Stop trying to force the attack.
- 02Let the shrine return Link to the starting position.
- 03Begin again from the first Construct position.
- 04Use slower movement and wait for a clearer opening.
Treasure and rewards
Treasure chest
The chest in the shrine contains a Sneaky Elixir. This is a fixed shrine reward rather than a random drop. It is thematically appropriate because it improves Link’s stealth and can be useful when approaching enemies elsewhere in Hyrule.
Light of Blessing
Completing the shrine grants one Light of Blessing. Four Lights of Blessing can be exchanged at a Goddess Statue for either:
The Light of Blessing is awarded for completing the shrine and is separate from the treasure chest.
Enemy directory
Sinatanika Shrine Construct
There is no conventional shrine boss, miniboss or multi-enemy battle. The Construct functions as a training target rather than as a standard overworld enemy encounter.

Related location: Akinatanis Lightroot
Akinatanis Lightroot is the underground location associated with Sinatanika Shrine. Its coordinates are approximately 3841, 2300, -0508, making it almost directly below the shrine’s surface position. Activating it brightens the surrounding area of the Akkala Highlands Depths and creates a travel point.
The Lightroot lies between the Ulri Canyon Mine, the Wellspring of Power and the bottom of East Akkala Plains Chasm, according to the Zelda Dungeon location entry. These are Depths connections, not subareas of Sinatanika Shrine itself.
Surface and Depths relationship
The surface shrine and underground Lightroot share a common location pattern:
If the player is exploring the Depths, finding Akinatanis Lightroot can help reveal nearby terrain. If the player is searching from the surface, the shrine’s position provides a useful landmark for estimating the Lightroot’s location below.
Nearby connections
Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower
Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower is the most useful launch point for reaching Sinatanika Shrine. The tower provides a clear aerial route towards the shrine and makes the approach considerably faster than travelling across the ground.
Higa Akkala Plain
The shrine is situated near the edge of Higa Akkala Plain. This is an overworld landscape connection, not a named service area attached to the shrine. It may be useful when describing the shrine’s position on regional maps, but it does not add extra shrine rooms, NPCs or rewards.
East Akkala Plains Chasm
East Akkala Plains Chasm is relevant to the nearby Depths geography. It is not an entrance inside Sinatanika Shrine. Players using the chasm to reach the Depths should treat Akinatanis Lightroot as a separate underground objective.
Lore and design notes
Sinatanika Shrine belongs to the Combat Training group of shrines. Rather than introducing a large mechanical puzzle, it isolates one technique and gives the player a controlled environment in which to practise it.
The shrine’s chest reward also mirrors its lesson. A Sneaky Elixir gives the player a practical stealth aid immediately after completing the stealth exercise.
Missables and progression changes
There are no known permanent missables associated with Sinatanika Shrine. The shrine can be completed whenever the player reaches it, and its rewards remain available until collected.
The Construct’s movement after the first strike is part of the shrine’s fixed design rather than a random encounter or procedural layout.
Practical advice
If the Construct is difficult to approach after it starts moving
Do not try to match its speed from directly behind. Instead, observe its route, move to a position it will pass, and let it create the opening. This reduces the amount of time Link spends moving within its detection range.
If you want to practise stealth outside the shrine
The shrine is a safe place to learn the basic timing, but the same principles work against overworld monsters. Crouching, darkness, stealth bonuses and environmental cover can all make sneakstrikes easier in ordinary exploration.
