About this guide

Base game guide. Spoilers: This guide covers Yansamin Shrine and the wider Zonaite Forge Island area in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It includes the route to the island, the island’s surrounding points of interest, the shrine trial, rewards and nearby collectibles.

Overview

Yansamin Shrine is a combat-focused Shrine of Light hidden inside Zonaite Forge Island, a high-altitude island in the East Necluda Sky. Its trial, “Proving Grounds: Low Gravity”, removes Link’s equipment and places him in a reduced-gravity arena where he must defeat a group of Soldier Constructs using only weapons, materials and Zonai devices found inside.

The shrine is only one part of the location. Zonaite Forge Island also contains an exterior activation terminal, a vertical updraft route, a Zonai Device Dispenser, a Korok, a Zonaite Waistguard treasure chest, scattered Zonaite equipment, and several environmental secrets. The island’s layout is easy to mistake for a single shrine approach, but the shrine itself is located deep below the forge’s upper basin.

Yansamin Shrine

Yansamin Shrine is the enclosed Shrine of Light at the bottom of Zonaite Forge Island. It is not visible from the island’s lower exterior when you first arrive. The shrine becomes accessible only after the island’s activation mechanism has been triggered and the player reaches the upper central platform.

The shrine is therefore best understood as a sub-area of Zonaite Forge Island, rather than as an independent island location. The shrine’s trial begins after entering the green shrine structure beneath the forge.

Zonaite Forge Island

Zonaite Forge Island is a large sky island in the East Necluda Sky. Its main structure is a circular, industrial-looking forge or refinery with a deep central basin. The island has several vertical levels:

The island is associated with the Zonai’s former use of Zonaite. A voice memory connected with the location describes the island as a forge or refinery whose lava-powered machinery remained active, while Rauru reflects on the changing availability of Zonaite.

Nearby but separate areas

The following locations are useful approach points but are not part of Yansamin Shrine itself:

Different guides recommend different launch points. Some use Rabella Wetlands Skyview Tower, while others begin from Great Sky Island or the islands around Josiu Shrine. These are alternative routes to the same destination, not separate versions of the shrine.

Recommended preparation

The Zora Armor is particularly useful because the route involves swimming up a waterfall on a small approach island. Without it, the journey is still possible through devices and stamina management, but considerably less convenient.

Route from a Skyview Tower

The rocket platform is the intended solution, but the game allows alternatives. A fan-powered aircraft, balloon, rocket shield or another custom vehicle can also provide the necessary height. The important point is that the final island sits too high for a normal, unassisted glide from the lower approach.

A practical route is

  1. 01
Travel to Rabella Wetlands Skyview Tower or another nearby launch point.
  2. 02
Launch into the sky and glide towards the East Necluda sky islands.
  3. 03
Aim for the small island with a waterfall rather than trying to reach Zonaite Forge Island directly.
  4. 04
Swim up the waterfall with the Zora Armor.
  5. 05
On the upper approach island, defeat or bypass the Construct.
  6. 06
Use the nearby floating platform and its rockets to gain altitude.
  7. 07
Glide from the raised platform to Zonaite Forge Island.

Route from Great Sky Island

Great Sky Island is another useful starting point because of its elevation. From the vicinity of Gutanbac Shrine, travel towards the island’s eastern side and look towards Zonaite Forge Island. A long glide may be possible with sufficient stamina, but the waterfall island and rocket platform remain useful if Link cannot cross the distance directly.

This route is also useful early in the game because Great Sky Island is unlocked very early, although the journey still requires careful stamina management. Tulin’s gust helps but is not strictly required.

Arrival checklist

Before entering the forge area, check that you have:

---

At the lower exterior of Zonaite Forge Island is a Zonai terminal or device. Examine it to activate the island’s vertical airflow. Once active, hot-air streams rise around the structure and allow Link to climb towards the upper section using the paraglider.

The activation step is essential. The central route to the shrine remains inaccessible until the mechanism is switched on. After activation, the island changes from a mostly static climbing challenge into a vertical traversal route.

Climbing through the updrafts

You do not need to remain airborne for the entire ascent. Landing regularly is safer, especially if Link has not yet upgraded his stamina wheel. Some ledges are positioned to let you pause between updrafts.

Practical tips

---

At the top of the forge is a large central opening. Once the island has been activated, this opening provides the route down to Yansamin Shrine.

Jump into the shaft and paraglide down while avoiding the laser beams. Touching a laser does not simply cause minor damage. It interrupts the descent and sends Link back towards the upper section, requiring the sequence to be repeated. This makes the drop a checkpoint-like traversal challenge before the shrine itself.

Use the updrafts in stages

  1. 01
    Jump into the first current.
  2. 02
    Open the paraglider and rise.
  3. 03
Land on a platform or ledge to recover stamina.
  4. 04
    Move to the next current.
  5. 05
Repeat until reaching the upper circular platform.

How to descend safely

The lasers are easier to avoid if you make controlled, small movements rather than sweeping across the whole shaft. If you do hit one, do not assume the shrine is inaccessible. Simply return to the upper platform and try the descent again.

---

How to descend safely: steps

  1. 01
    Stand above the central opening.
  2. 02
    Drop through the shaft.
  3. 03
Open the paraglider once Link is clear of the rim.
  4. 04
Watch the laser pattern and steer through the gaps.
  5. 05
Avoid brushing the walls and beams.
  6. 06
    Continue to the lower chamber.
  7. 07
Land near the shrine entrance and the Device Dispenser.

Trial rules

Yansamin Shrine is a Proving Grounds shrine. On entry:

The low-gravity property changes both movement and combat. Link jumps higher and remains airborne for longer, making aerial attacks, bow shots and shield manoeuvres more effective. It also makes ordinary movement less predictable, particularly when attempting to land near a Construct.

Equipment available inside

The shrine contains basic weapons, shields and materials, including equipment such as:

The exact order in which you encounter these objects depends on how you move through the arena. The important principle is to collect and fuse equipment rather than trying to fight with the weakest unfused weapons.

Equipment available inside

Enemy directory

The shrine’s combatants are Construct enemies distributed across several levels.

The trial contains nine Constructs in total according to walkthrough references. They are spread across three levels, with two on the first level, six on the second and one on the third.

Recommended combat method

1. Search before committing to a fight

At the beginning, collect the nearest weapons and materials. Fuse a stronger enemy weapon to a stick or sword as soon as possible. A fused weapon is much more useful than the basic equipment supplied at the entrance.

2. Take advantage of low gravity

Jump attacks are particularly effective. Link can gain height, draw the bow in mid-air and fire at a Construct’s head or weapon arm. This also gives him time to reposition before landing.

3. Use the Beam Emitter

The Beam Emitter is one of the most useful tools in the shrine. It can be attached to a shield or used as a combat device, allowing Link to damage enemies while maintaining distance. It is especially useful when several Constructs occupy the same level.

Do not rely on the Beam Emitter alone. Manage its heat and battery behaviour, and keep a conventional fused weapon available for close combat.

4. Remove enemy weapons

Constructs can become much less dangerous once their weapons are taken away. Use Ultrahand to manipulate loose objects where possible, or simply defeat the enemy carrying the strongest weapon first and claim its equipment.

5. Work level by level

The precise route is flexible, but clearing a level before moving upwards reduces the risk of being attacked from below while trying to climb.

5. Work level by level: A safe progression is

  1. 01
Clear the two Constructs on the initial level.
  2. 02
    Collect their dropped equipment.
  3. 03
Move to the larger middle level.
  4. 04
Defeat the six Constructs there while using elevated platforms for aerial attacks.
  5. 05
    Reach the upper level.
  6. 06
    Defeat the final Construct.
  7. 07
Collect the completion reward and exit.

Shrine reward

After all Constructs are defeated, the shrine’s exit becomes available. The chest in the rear chamber contains Large Zonaite, and the shrine altar awards a Light of Blessing.

Shrine inventory directory

The Large Zonaite is a fixed chest reward, not a random drop.

---

Zonaite Forge Island Device Dispenser

A Zonai Device Dispenser is located on the island near the shrine’s lower area. Its device pool is:

The dispenser’s precise output is random. It is especially useful for stocking up on emitters, Homing Carts and Time Bombs, although it does not provide fans, steering sticks or rockets. Zonai Charges and Large Zonai Charges are used to operate Device Dispensers, and the number of capsules received depends on the amount supplied.

Zonaite Waistguard

A chest in a small tower east of Yansamin Shrine contains the Zonaite Waistguard. The chest is associated with the forge’s hidden lower spaces and can be reached by using Ascend from below. This armour piece is part of the Zonaite armour set and is separate from the shrine reward.

Armour directory

The Zonaite Waistguard should not be confused with the shrine’s Large Zonaite chest or with the Zonaite armour pieces found elsewhere in the sky.

Scattered Zonaite equipment

The upper and surrounding sections of the forge contain Zonai-themed equipment and weapons. These are useful because the island’s theme is reflected mechanically in its loot: the area supplies equipment suited to fighting Constructs and experimenting with Zonai devices.

Community inventories commonly report scattered Zonaite weapons and a bow or shield around the forge, but exact item strength and respawn behaviour can depend on game progression and the normal world-respawn system. Treat these as overworld pickups rather than shrine rewards. The shrine’s confirmed fixed chest reward remains Large Zonaite.

Exterior equipment directory

Verified or commonly documented equipment associated with the forge includes:

Because these items are found as overworld equipment rather than as named treasure chests, their exact placement and modifier state should be checked in-game. Do not treat a weapon lying on the island as part of Yansamin Shrine’s internal inventory.

Korok

Zonaite Forge Island contains at least one Korok in the island’s pipe and platform network. One documented location is in the south-eastern pipe, with the puzzle trail connecting through the island’s pipe system. Another separate environmental puzzle is associated with the north-eastern pipe and a rock pattern.

Collectible directory

The rock pattern is not automatically a Korok unless the game confirms it through the normal puzzle interaction. Keep the two entries distinct when exploring.

Materials

The forge’s exterior can provide sky-island materials, including:

These are overworld materials rather than fixed shrine rewards. Their availability can change after collection and through the game’s ordinary respawn rules.

---

This route prioritises the shrine first but leaves the island’s optional rewards available afterwards. If you are short on combat supplies, completing the shrine early is useful because its interior provides weapons and Zonai devices without risking your main inventory.

Mistaking the approach island for the forge

The waterfall island is only a launch point. If you find a small island with a Construct and a rocket platform, you have not yet reached Zonaite Forge Island.

Trying to glide directly from a low launch point

The distance and height make a direct glide unreliable. Use the rocket platform, a custom Zonai vehicle or a high-elevation launch point.

Forgetting the activation terminal

The central shaft cannot be used properly until the terminal on the island’s lower exterior is examined. If the updrafts are not active, return to the base and look for the terminal.

Opening the paraglider too late

The shaft begins with a dangerous drop. Open the paraglider before Link reaches the lower section, then make small steering adjustments to avoid the lasers.

Entering the shrine with an important weapon equipped

The Proving Grounds trial removes Link’s carried equipment. Use or store any temporary equipment as appropriate before entering, and do not expect your strongest weapon to be available inside.

Treating the Device Dispenser as a guaranteed source

The dispenser has a fixed pool but random output. It can provide emitters and Homing Carts, but it cannot be used to select a specific capsule directly.

---

Zonaite Forge Island is one of the clearest examples of the Sky Islands presenting the Zonai as an industrial civilisation rather than only as a vanished religious or royal culture. Its refinery-like architecture, machinery, lava and scattered equipment all support the idea that Zonaite was once processed or used on a much larger scale.

The island’s voice memory adds a historical perspective. Rauru notes that Zonaite was once plentiful even in the sky, while the surviving lava-powered forge has become a remnant of an earlier period. The contrast helps explain why Zonaite is scarce in the present-day game and why the player must gather it mainly through the Depths and Construct-related activities.

The shrine’s low-gravity combat trial also fits the location’s design. The player is forced to improvise with Zonai equipment and basic Construct weapons inside an old Zonai industrial facility. The trial is not a historical event described in the story, but its mechanics reinforce the island’s themes of technology, vertical movement and experimentation.

Where is Yansamin Shrine?

It is inside Zonaite Forge Island in the East Necluda Sky, at approximately 2353, -1783, 1475.

Do I need the Zora Armor?

It is the easiest way to swim up the waterfall on the approach island. Other Zonai-device solutions are possible, but the Zora Armor makes the route much more forgiving.

Why is the shrine entrance closed?

Activate the terminal on the island’s lower exterior, then use the resulting updrafts to reach the top. The shrine is accessed by skydiving through the central opening.

What is the shrine reward?

The shrine gives one Light of Blessing. Its chest contains Large Zonaite.

Is the Zonaite Waistguard inside the shrine?

No. It is in a separate chest in the wider Zonaite Forge Island area, in a small tower east of the shrine.

What does the nearby Device Dispenser give?

Its reported pool contains Homing Carts, Beam Emitters, Flame Emitters, Frost Emitters and Time Bombs. The output is random.

How many enemies are in Yansamin Shrine?

Walkthrough references describe nine Constructs distributed across three levels.

---

This guide separates the shrine from the larger Zonaite Forge Island area because the island contains several independent rewards and collectibles. The shrine’s fixed reward, trial name, location and internal chest are well supported by multiple guide and wiki references. The wider island’s scattered weapon list is less consistently documented, particularly regarding exact weapon modifiers, precise placements and respawn timing. Those items have therefore been labelled as exterior overworld equipment rather than presented as fixed shrine rewards.

The game’s normal world-respawn rules may also alter whether previously collected exterior weapons and materials are present on a return visit.
