Introduction
Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower stands on a grassy hill in West Necluda, west of Kakariko Village and above Nabi Lake. It is one of the early-to-mid-game Skyview Towers that appears to be blocked by a simple jammed door. The apparent problem is misleading: the entrance cannot be opened from outside, and the solution lies in the cave network beneath the hill.
The tower is connected directly to Sahasra Slope Cave, a compact but useful cave containing ore, materials, a chest, a Bubbulfrog and the Ascend route into the tower’s interior. Once Link removes the two Long Sticks blocking the sliding doors, Billson can repair the tower’s terminal. Activating it maps the surrounding surface and sky region and creates a fast-travel point.
The tower itself is a small location, but its surrounding slope is more substantial. The broader area includes Morok Shrine, enemy camps, a Battle Talus, a Gloom Spawn encounter, Korok puzzles and roads connecting Kakariko Village with the Wetland Stable and Lanayru Wetlands. These neighbouring points are included here as regional connections, not silently treated as part of the tower grounds.
Location and boundaries
Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower
The tower occupies the top of a rounded grassy hill. It is west of Kakariko Village, south-east of Morok Shrine and close to the northern road through Sahasra Slope. The tower’s immediate location consists of:
The tower is not the same location as the whole Sahasra Slope region. The slope stretches beyond the hilltop towards Kakariko Village, the Wetland Stable road and surrounding woodland. Enemy camps, Korok puzzles and Morok Shrine belong to the wider regional setting and are listed separately below.
Sahasra Slope Cave
Sahasra Slope Cave runs beneath the tower and is the essential child area for the tower’s unlocking sequence. It has two entrances, one slightly north-west and another to the south-east. Large sections are blocked by breakable rock and hard sediment, creating several connected chambers rather than a straight tunnel.
The cave contains a north-eastern monster-filled section, multiple ordinary Ore Deposits, a Rare Ore Deposit behind a larger boulder, and a chamber from which Ascend reaches the tower interior. The cave’s exact internal paths can be easy to misread because several rock walls look similar. The important landmark is the relatively open chamber immediately below the tower, where the Ascend target appears on the ceiling.
Wider Sahasra Slope
The wider slope is a grassy West Necluda area west of Kakariko Village. In Breath of the Wild, it is associated with the road from Kakariko towards the Wetland Stable and features wildlife, Bokoblins and Guardian-related remnants. In Tears of the Kingdom, the old landscape is altered by the Upheaval and includes new enemy camps, the tower, Morok Shrine and several optional discoveries.
For this guide, the following are nearby regional points, not parts of the tower structure:
---
Access and routes
From Kakariko Village
The most natural approach is to leave Kakariko Village along the western road and follow the path into Sahasra Slope. The tower is visible on the hill. This route is convenient if you are exploring West Necluda, but it may take you past several optional enemy encounters.
From Lookout Landing
Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower lies south-east of Lookout Landing. Travelling through Hyrule Field and then towards Kakariko Village provides a straightforward surface approach. The tower’s location is recorded as roughly 1,341, -1,178, 0160, though players should treat coordinates as navigation aids rather than a substitute for the visible hilltop landmark.
From the cave entrances
If the tower door is already part of your objective, go down to the foot of the hill and search for the cave mouths. Either entrance eventually leads into the cave network, but both routes involve breaking through rock.
The cave is easier to navigate if you:
Bomb Flowers can also clear the obstructions, but rock-fused weapons are usually the more economical option for a normal exploration run. The cave’s breakable barriers and the possibility of using Bomb Flowers or Fuse are documented in the cave walkthroughs.
---
From the cave entrances
- 01carry a mining weapon made with a rock, boulder or similar material;
- 02use Brightbloom Seeds before entering dark sections;
- 03mark the tower’s position on the surface map if you enter from the less obvious side;
- 04avoid wasting powerful weapons on ordinary rock unless necessary.
Unlocking the tower: complete walkthrough
Common mistake: searching for the correct mushroom
Billson’s mushroom comments are flavour dialogue and a hint towards the cave. You do not solve the tower by giving him a mushroom. The actual solution is to enter from underground, Ascend into the tower and move the two Long Sticks.
Common mistake: breaking every rock in the cave
You do not need to clear the entire cave before reaching the tower. The goal is to reach the chamber directly below the structure. However, exploring the side chambers is worthwhile because the cave contains ore, materials, a chest and a Bubbulfrog.
---
Unlocking the tower: complete walkthrough: steps
- 01Approach the tower from the surface. Billson is standing outside and explains that he came to repair the terminal, but the sliding door will not open.
Unlocking the tower: complete walkthrough: steps
- 01Speak to Billson. His comments about mushrooms and caves below the hill are the clue that the entrance is underground. You do not need to collect or give him a mushroom.
Unlocking the tower: complete walkthrough: steps
- 01Find Sahasra Slope Cave. Search around the lower slopes for one of the two cave entrances. The north-west and south-east entrances both connect to the cave system.
Unlocking the tower: complete walkthrough: steps
- 01Break through the rock. Use a rock-fused weapon, Bomb Flowers or another suitable mining method. Several passages are blocked, so continue through the cave rather than turning back after the first chamber.
Unlocking the tower: complete walkthrough: steps
- 01Reach the chamber beneath the tower. Look for a ceiling area where Ascend can target the underside of the tower. If Ascend is not available, you cannot complete this route normally, since the tower puzzle specifically relies on entering from below.
Unlocking the tower: complete walkthrough: steps
- 01Ascend into the tower. Link emerges inside the tower, behind the jammed entrance.
Unlocking the tower: complete walkthrough: steps
- 01Remove both Long Sticks. One stick is positioned on each side of the sliding doors. Either pick them up and move them away or use Ultrahand to reposition them. Both obstructions must be cleared.
Unlocking the tower: complete walkthrough: steps
- 01Open the doors. Once the sticks are gone, the entrance can slide open. Billson enters and performs the repair.
Unlocking the tower: complete walkthrough: steps
- 01Activate the terminal. Examine the tower terminal to register the location as a travel point.
Unlocking the tower: complete walkthrough: steps
- 01Use the launch platform. Step onto the glowing launch point and examine it. Link is fired into the sky, revealing the surrounding surface and sky map data.
Sahasra Slope Cave
Cave layout and navigation
The cave is a short branching network beneath the tower rather than a large dungeon. Its identity is defined by the dense rock barriers that divide its rooms. Some walls are ordinary destructible rock, while other sections contain hard sediment that may require repeated attacks or stronger mining tools.
A northeastern section contains monster refuse and several cave enemies. A southern chamber behind a large boulder contains additional ore, including a Rare Ore Deposit according to the cave’s location description.
Enemies
The Blue Horriblin is the most dangerous of the cave’s regular enemies because it can withstand more punishment and may knock Link from ledges. Keese are most troublesome in cramped passages, where they can interrupt mining or cause Link to fall.
Items and resources
The cave provides ordinary exploration resources rather than a unique quest item. Confirmed cave materials and pickups include:
The cave page also records a treasure chest containing a Shield of the Mind’s Eye.
Bubbulfrog and Bubbul Gem
A Bubbulfrog is hidden deeper in the cave, behind or near the large rock-blocked section. Defeat it to receive the cave’s Bubbul Gem. The Gem can later be exchanged with Koltin as part of the Bubbul Gem trading system.
Because the cave has a map checkmark associated with its Bubbulfrog completion, players working towards cave collection should confirm that the cave name shows as completed after taking the Gem. The Gem is not a random drop and does not require a particular weather condition or story state.
Recommended cave route
This separates the mandatory tower objective from the optional resource sweep.
---
Recommended cave route: For a practical first visit
- 01Enter through the nearer cave mouth.
- 02Light the route with Brightbloom Seeds.
- 03Mine only the rocks blocking forward progress.
- 04Follow the cave towards the central chamber.
- 05Ascend into the tower and unlock it.
- 06Return to the cave afterwards to clear the side passages.
- 07Defeat the Bubbulfrog.
- 08Collect the chest and ore deposits before leaving.
Billson and other characters
Billson
Billson is the only named character verified as residing at the tower itself. He is a member of the Skyview Tower repair effort and arrives to fix the terminal. His role is progression-based rather than commercial: he does not operate a shop, offer a service menu or provide a permanent facility.
Billson initially waits outside because the sliding door is jammed. Once Link enters from below and clears the Long Sticks, Billson enters, repairs the mechanism and enables the tower.
There is no verified evidence that a permanent stable, shop, inn or other staffed business operates at Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower.

Nearby connections and regional directory
Morok Shrine
Morok Shrine is positioned north-west of the tower, on a low sky island. The easiest route is to activate Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower and glide towards it. The shrine is called A Bouncy Device and teaches the use of Springs to gain height, cross gaps and launch objects. Its treasure chest contains a Sneaky Elixir and its completion awards a Light of Blessing.
Morok Shrine is close enough to be considered the tower’s primary nearby destination, but it is a separate named location and should not be treated as an internal tower subarea.
Battle Talus
A Battle Talus can be encountered west of the tower. This is a roaming or stationed overworld boss encounter, not a part of the tower activation sequence. It is best tackled after acquiring a reliable way to reach the monster’s upper platform and a weapon capable of damaging its ore deposit.
Gloom Spawn
A Gloom Spawn encounter appears west of Morok Shrine. The hands can be difficult to fight in open ground, but the terrain beneath the shrine provides a useful height advantage because the enemy cannot always reach Link on elevated surfaces. This encounter is separate from the tower and is not required for activation.
Enemy camps
The wider slope includes several small enemy positions:
The recorded rewards include a chest with five Arrows at the Bokoblin camp, a Lizal Boomerang from the Lizalfos camp and a Spiked Boko Shield from the north-west Bokoblin camp. These rewards are regional discoveries, not tower rewards.
Roads
The main road through Sahasra Slope links the Kakariko Village side of West Necluda with the route towards the Wetland Stable and Lanayru Wetlands. In Breath of the Wild, the area’s geography is particularly associated with the road west of Kakariko and the old Guardian-era landscape. In Tears of the Kingdom, the same general route remains useful for surface travel, but the tower and new enemy placements change the practical journey.
---
Collectibles and optional activities
Korok Seeds
The wider Sahasra Slope area has several Korok puzzles. The researched directory includes:
The Korok reunion requires carrying or guiding one Korok to its friend, while the other entries use the usual observation, shooting, lifting or flower-following interactions.
These are all part of the wider slope and road network, not the tower interior.
Chest rewards
The first four regional camp rewards are recorded in the Sahasra Slope area listing, while the Morok Shrine and nearby Large Zonai Charge are recorded in the shrine entry.
Materials and wildlife
The wider slope supports ordinary surface wildlife and gathering. Verified entries include:
The cave adds Brightbloom-related materials, cave fish, frogs, Brightcaps and ore. These resources are fixed as location categories, but exact ordinary material pickups can vary with collection, respawn and game state.
---
Chest rewards: Confirmed nearby chest rewards include
| Location | Reward |
|---|---|
| Sahasra Slope Cave | Shield of the Mind’s Eye |
| Bokoblin camp north of the tower | Five Arrows |
| Lizalfos camp north-east of Morok Shrine | Lizal Boomerang |
| Bokoblin camp north-west of Morok Shrine | Spiked Boko Shield |
| Higher ground south-east of Morok Shrine | Large Zonai Charge |
| Morok Shrine | Sneaky Elixir |
Suggested exploration routes
Fast tower activation
Use this route if your priority is opening the fast-travel point:
Combat-preparation route
If you are early in the game, avoid fighting every encounter immediately. The cave’s Horriblins can be bypassed while opening the tower, and the Battle Talus is an optional boss. A sensible order is:
---
Fast tower activation
- 01Approach the tower and speak to Billson.
- 02Descend to the nearest cave entrance.
- 03Break through only the rocks required to reach the central chamber.
- 04Ascend into the tower.
- 05Move both Long Sticks.
- 06Open the doors and wait for Billson to repair the terminal.
- 07Activate the tower.
- 08Glide to Morok Shrine if you want an immediate nearby shrine checkpoint.
Completion-focused route: For a more thorough sweep
- 01Activate the tower first.
- 02Launch towards Morok Shrine and complete it.
- 03Glide or climb back to the slope.
- 04Search the cave for the Bubbulfrog and chest.
- 05Clear the ore chambers.
- 06Check the Battle Talus west of the tower.
- 07Sweep the Bokoblin and Lizalfos camps.
- 08Follow the road towards Kakariko Village and inspect the nearby Korok puzzles.
- 09Continue towards the Wetland Stable route for the Korok reunion.
Combat-preparation route
- 01unlock the tower;
- 02complete Morok Shrine for a Light of Blessing;
- 03improve health or stamina;
- 04return for the Battle Talus;
- 05clear the camps when you have stronger weapons.
Hazards and practical advice
---
Hazards and practical advice
| Name | Details |
|---|---|
| Falling rocks and cramped cave passages | Mine from stable ground and avoid standing directly below loose-looking ceilings. |
| Horriblins | They attack from walls and ceilings. Use arrows or a vertical attack when they are exposed. |
| Blue Horriblin | Treat it as a stronger cave enemy rather than an ordinary nuisance. |
| Gloom Spawn | Keep nearby high ground in mind before beginning the fight. |
| Battle Talus | Do not confuse it with a standard Stone Talus. Its mounted enemies and battlefield pressure make it more dangerous. |
| Night travel | Surface enemy visibility and wildlife behaviour change after dark, so use the tower or a shrine as a safe return point. |
| Mining equipment | A simple rock-fused weapon is enough for much of the cave. Save Bomb Flowers for blocked sections that are awkward to reach or for when weapon durability is more important than ammunition. |
Lore and continuity
Sahasra Slope appears in both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, but the locations should not be treated as identical in every detail. The area’s older identity is tied to the road west of Kakariko Village, Guardian remnants and the pre-Upheaval landscape. In Tears of the Kingdom, the Skyview Tower is a new major landmark, while the cave beneath it provides a new underground route and collectible set.
The tower also reflects the wider post-Upheaval infrastructure project. Skyview Towers were built or maintained as part of the effort to survey Hyrule and restore map coverage. Sahasra Slope’s puzzle is therefore practical rather than mystical: the terminal works, but the access mechanism is physically obstructed.
