Key takeaways

  • The shrine is on a high rocky ledge in Gerudo Canyon, close to Gerudo Canyon Stable and southwest of Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower.
  • The trial, Hidden Metal, requires Link to carry electrical power through metal balls, gears and bars.
  • The shrine has one treasure chest containing a Strong Zonaite Shield Multiple walkthroughs and item databases agree on this reward.
  • The first major puzzle is solved by joining an electrified ball to a second ball, powering a large gear that acts as a lift.
  • The final door requires a metal bridge between two conductive bars The removable axle from a nearby small gear provides the necessary connection.
  • Completing the shrine grants a Light of Blessing, restores Link’s health and activates the shrine as a fast-travel point.

Overview

Turakamik Shrine is a compact electricity puzzle shrine overlooking the western end of Gerudo Canyon. It is built around a chain of metal balls, rotating gears, movable metal bars and a powered exit mechanism. The shrine is reached from the canyon road rather than from the Gerudo Desert proper, and its entrance is positioned above the road near Gerudo Canyon Stable.

The shrine’s boundaries are straightforward: this guide covers Turakamik Shrine itself, its approach ledge and its immediate entrance area. It does not treat the whole of Gerudo Canyon, Gerudo Canyon Stable, Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower, Gerudo Canyon Mine or the surrounding road network as parts of the shrine. Those places are included only as navigation references or nearby connections.

Turakamik is also a useful early demonstration of how Tears of the Kingdom combines electricity with physics. The intended solutions use Ultrahand to connect conductive objects, Recall to reverse a gear and Ascend to pass through moving platforms.

Gerudo Canyon setting

Turakamik Shrine stands on the western side of Gerudo Canyon, above the road leading towards the Gerudo Desert. The shrine is not inside Gerudo Canyon Stable and is not part of the stable’s closed-down facility. It sits on a separate rocky shelf overlooking the canyon route.

The wider canyon is a passage between the central Hyrule side of the Gerudo Highlands and the Gerudo Desert. It includes several distinct places, including the canyon pass, the Gerudo Canyon Stable and the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower. Those locations form the shrine’s surrounding environment, but they are not subareas of Turakamik Shrine.

Nearby but separate

Finding the entrance

The simplest approach is from the road near Gerudo Canyon Stable. Look for the large rocky overhang and raised ledge above the route. Depending on your approach, you can climb the rock face, use Ascend from beneath a suitable overhang or glide down from a higher position.

The shrine is close enough to Gerudo Canyon Stable that the stable is the most useful ground-level landmark. It is also southwest of Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower, making the tower a convenient launch point if you have already activated it. IGN describes the shrine as sitting above the road on a stone ledge, while other guides place it east or slightly northeast of Gerudo Canyon Stable. These descriptions refer to the same entrance area.

Named locations within or directly associated with the shrine

Nearby named locations

These are not part of the shrine interior.

---

Turakamik Shrine has no quest requirement and does not require a special item to enter. Once you reach the exterior platform, the green shrine entrance can be activated normally.

Nearby named locations

Recommended preparation

The shrine itself is indoors and does not impose temperature effects. However, the surrounding Gerudo Canyon can be hot during the day and cold at night, particularly around the higher elevations. Heat or cold protection may therefore be useful on the journey to the shrine, although it is not required once inside.

Practical routes

From the Gerudo Desert side

Follow the canyon road north-west towards the stable. The shrine’s ledge is easier to identify when approaching from the stable side, as the entrance sits above the route rather than directly beside it.

---

Turakamik Shrine is divided into several connected puzzle spaces rather than separate named rooms. Its machinery forms one continuous electrical circuit. The intended progression is:

The shrine does not contain combat encounters, Construct enemies or a boss. Its challenge comes entirely from positioning conductive objects and using the movement abilities correctly.

From Gerudo Canyon Stable

  1. 01
Leave the stable and follow the road through the canyon.
  2. 02
Look above the road for the rocky overhang and raised shelf.
  3. 03
Climb the shelf or use Ascend beneath a suitable section of rock.
  4. 04
Activate Turakamik Shrine at the top.

From Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower

  1. 01
    Launch from the tower.
  2. 02
Glide southwest towards the raised rock formations above the canyon road.
  3. 03
Land on the shrine’s ledge or on a nearby shelf.
  4. 04
Climb the final section if necessary.

From the Gerudo Desert side

  1. 01
    Power the first large gear.
  2. 02
    Ride the gear upwards.
  3. 03
Connect the second pair of swinging balls.
  4. 04
Use the moving wall platforms and Ascend.
  5. 05
Reverse another large gear with Recall to reach the treasure.
  6. 06
Build a conductive bridge to open the final door.
  7. 07
    Reach the altar.

Electricity in the shrine

The shrine uses metal balls and bars as conductors. A powered object will transmit electricity when it is physically connected to another suitable metal object. Ultrahand is used to create or hold these connections.

The important principle is that the objects do not need to be placed in a particular visual orientation. They only need to touch in a way that creates a continuous electrical path.

---

1. Power the first large gear

At the beginning of the shrine, you will see two metal balls hanging from chains near a large gear. One ball is electrified.

The gear acts as a rotating lift. If you attach the balls but nothing happens, check that the two metal objects are actually joined rather than merely touching for a moment.

The first chamber establishes the shrine’s central idea: Link is not carrying a battery or activating a terminal directly. He is constructing a temporary electrical circuit from the objects supplied in the room.

1. Power the first large gear: steps

  1. 01
Use Ultrahand to grab the electrified ball.
  2. 02
Pull it towards the second ball.
  3. 03
    Attach the two balls together.
  4. 04
Electricity will pass into the second ball and power the large gear.
  5. 05
Step onto the gear and ride it to the higher platform.

2. Connect the swinging balls

The next pair of metal balls is mounted on chains along the wall. They are positioned too far apart to connect immediately.

This can take a few attempts. The easiest method is to move the second ball close to the centre of the swinging arc and wait rather than trying to chase the moving object.

When the connection is made, the electricity activates a sequence of moving platforms or blocks protruding from the wall. These platforms repeatedly move in and out, creating a route upwards.

2. Connect the swinging balls: steps

  1. 01
Grab one of the balls with Ultrahand.
  2. 02
Pull it as far to one side as the chain allows.
  3. 03
Release it so that it swings back and forth.
  4. 04
Grab the other ball and hold it near the first ball’s path.
  5. 05
Wait until the swinging ball comes close.
  6. 06
Attach the two balls while they are within reach of one another.

3. Cross the moving platforms

The platforms are not a separate puzzle so much as a movement consequence of the electrical connection. If they are not moving, return to the chain balls and confirm that the electrical circuit is still intact.

You can generally use Ascend to simplify this section. Wait for a platform to move into a useful position, stand below it and ascend through the solid surface. The shrine’s geometry is designed to support this approach.

After the swinging-ball circuit is complete

  1. 01
Move beneath the first protruding platform.
  2. 02
Use Ascend to pass through it where possible.
  3. 03
Climb or jump between the extended platforms.
  4. 04
Time your movement around their retraction.
  5. 05
    Reach the next upper ledge.

4. Collect the treasure chest

The treasure chest is on a high ledge beside another large gear. It is optional for shrine completion but should be collected before leaving.

The chest contains a Strong Zonaite Shield. This reward is distinct from the standard Zonaite Shield and the higher-tier Mighty Zonaite Shield. Several walkthroughs and item databases identify the Turakamik chest as containing the Strong version.

Treasure directory

A small number of reference pages list the chest as a Mighty Zonaite Shield. That conflicts with the in-game item identification reported by multiple independent walkthroughs and shrine databases. The Strong Zonaite Shield listing is therefore the better-supported result for the base-game shrine.

4. Collect the treasure chest: steps

  1. 01
Approach the large gear in the next area.
  2. 02
    Use Recall on the gear.
  3. 03
    The gear’s movement will reverse.
  4. 04
Stand on the gear and ride it upwards.
  5. 05
Jump or climb onto the ledge.
  6. 06
    Open the stone chest.

5. Build the final electrical connection

Return to the lower part of the room. Near the exit mechanism, you will find a metal ball on a chain and two metal bars or terminals associated with the door.

The chain is not long enough to connect the ball directly to the relevant bar. A removable metal axle from a pair of smaller gears supplies the missing length.

The most common mistake is trying to move the entire gear assembly. The useful piece is the loose metal connector between the smaller gears. If the door does not open, adjust the connector until both ends are touching conductive surfaces.

5. Build the final electrical connection: steps

  1. 01
Locate the electrified metal ball near the floor.
  2. 02
Use Ultrahand to position it against or around the first metal bar.
  3. 03
Find the smaller gears beneath the large gear.
  4. 04
Remove the long metal bar or axle linking those smaller gears.
  5. 05
Carry it to the two bars near the exit.
  6. 06
Place it across the gap so that it touches both.
  7. 07
Confirm that the ball, first bar, removable axle and second bar now form one continuous circuit.
  8. 08
The exit door will open once the power reaches it.

6. Complete the shrine

Completion also restores Link’s health and permanently activates Turakamik Shrine as a fast-travel point.

The Strong Zonaite Shield has a guard value of 26 and is a useful early or mid-game shield, particularly for players interested in Zonai-device fuel efficiency. The shield is not required to solve the shrine and can be collected at any point before completion.

6. Complete the shrine: steps

  1. 01
    Pass through the opened door.
  2. 02
    Follow the short final passage.
  3. 03
    Approach the green altar.
  4. 04
Interact with it to receive the Light of Blessing.

Is the treasure missable?

No permanent missable trigger is associated with the chest. If you complete the shrine without opening it, you can return through the activated shrine entrance and collect it later.

The chest reward is fixed rather than a random drop. It is not affected by the normal world-level scaling that changes some enemy equipment.

Enemies

There are no regular enemies or bosses inside Turakamik Shrine.

Enemy directory

This should not be confused with the wider Gerudo Canyon, where enemies and environmental hazards may be present. The absence of enemies applies to the shrine interior, not to the surrounding roads, cliffs or caves.

Hazards

The main hazards are mechanical rather than damaging traps:

There is no confirmed damage-dealing electricity trap that must be crossed. The electrical objects are puzzle components.

---

Turakamik Shrine has no residents, merchants, quest givers or faction representatives. The shrine is an isolated challenge location.

Services directory

Gerudo Canyon Stable is nearby, but its staff and services belong to the stable location rather than Turakamik Shrine. In Tears of the Kingdom, the stable is described as closed because of the region’s extreme temperatures, although Piaffe remains there and is associated with the Piaffe, Packed Away quest. That quest is not required for Turakamik Shrine.

---

Gerudo Canyon Stable

The stable is the most useful ground-level landmark for finding Turakamik Shrine. It lies near the western part of the canyon route, while the shrine sits on a raised ledge above the road.

The stable should be treated as a separate place. It has its own NPCs, quest content and location status, none of which form part of the shrine’s interior.

Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower

The Skyview Tower is a convenient aerial approach. From the tower, Link can glide towards the shrine’s rocky ledge. This is particularly useful if climbing from the road is inconvenient or if the shrine’s exact ledge is difficult to identify.

Gerudo Canyon Mine

Gerudo Canyon Mine is a separate cave or mine location in the wider area. It is not an entrance to Turakamik Shrine, and mining materials found there should not be counted as shrine collectibles.

Kimakarut Lightroot

Turakamik Shrine corresponds to Kimakarut Lightroot in the Depths. The Lightroot is a separate Depths location and is not physically connected to the shrine interior. Activating the shrine does not automatically activate the Lightroot, nor does activating the Lightroot complete the shrine.

Connection directory

---

For a first visit, the following order minimises backtracking:

Connection directory

  1. 01
Activate Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower if it is not already available.
  2. 02
Glide towards the high ledge near Gerudo Canyon Stable.
  3. 03
    Activate Turakamik Shrine from outside.
  4. 04
Enter the shrine and solve the first gear circuit.
  5. 05
    Complete the swinging-ball connection.
  6. 06
    Ascend through the moving platforms.
  7. 07
Use Recall to reach and open the treasure chest.
  8. 08
    Return to the lower section.
  9. 09
Use the loose gear axle to complete the final circuit.
  10. 10
    Receive the Light of Blessing.
  11. 11
Return outside and continue towards the stable, the Gerudo Desert or other Gerudo Highlands landmarks.

Completion checklist

---

The shrine’s title, Hidden Metal, describes both its visual language and its puzzle logic. The solution is not based on a hidden switch or a conventional key. Instead, the player must identify which metal components can be repositioned and understand how electrical power flows between them.

Turakamik also reflects one of the central design ideas of Tears of the Kingdom: objects that initially appear to be scenery can become tools. The rotating gears function as lifts, the chain balls become switches, and a gear axle becomes a cable bridge. The shrine is therefore less about memorising a single solution and more about recognising conductive relationships.

The shrine’s Depths counterpart, Kimakarut Lightroot, reinforces the game’s surface-and-Depths correspondence system. However, the two locations remain separate gameplay spaces with separate activation conditions.

---

Where is Turakamik Shrine?

It is on a raised rocky ledge in western Gerudo Canyon, near Gerudo Canyon Stable and southwest of Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower. Its commonly listed coordinates are approximately −2658, −2236, 0067.

What is the shrine trial called?

The trial is called Hidden Metal.

What is inside the treasure chest?

The best-supported base-game identification is a Strong Zonaite Shield. A few pages list a Mighty Zonaite Shield, but several independent walkthroughs and item databases identify the reward as Strong.

How do I activate the first gear?

Use Ultrahand to connect the electrified metal ball to the other metal ball. This completes the first circuit and powers the gear.

How do I connect the second pair of balls?

Pull one ball to the side, release it so it swings, then hold the other ball in its path. Attach them when they come close together.

How do I reach the chest?

Use Recall on the large gear in the third area, then ride the reversed gear up to the chest ledge.

How do I open the final door?

Attach the electrified ball to the first bar, remove the long axle from the smaller gears and place it across the two bars near the exit. This completes the circuit and opens the door.

Is there a boss?

No. Turakamik Shrine is a puzzle shrine with no combat encounter or boss.

Can I return after completing it?

Yes. Once activated, the shrine remains a fast-travel point, and the treasure chest can be collected later if you missed it.
