Key takeaways

  • Koradat Lightroot is in the Central Hyrule Depths, at approximately (-1080, -2180, -0560). Published map references differ slightly by a few coordinate units.
  • Its Surface counterpart is Tadarok Shrine, not a separate Lightroot or a Sky Shrine.
  • Activating the root reveals part of the Depths map, unlocks fast travel and provides a local anti-Gloom healing zone.
  • The nearby sword-bearing statue is relevant to the Master Kohga of the Yiga Clan quest and points south-west towards later objectives.
  • Koradat is not the same location as the Great Abandoned Central Mine, although the mine is close enough to serve as a major approach landmark.
  • The Lightroot can be activated before the associated quest The quest adds significance to the nearby statue trail rather than changing the Lightroot itself.

About this guide

Scope note: This guide treats Koradat Lightroot itself and its immediate surroundings as the location. It does not absorb the neighbouring Great Abandoned Central Mine, Hylia Canyon Mine, Forest of Time Chasm, or the wider Master Kohga statue trail into Koradat Lightroot. Those places are discussed only as connections or routes.

Introduction

Koradat Lightroot is a Lightroot in the Central Hyrule Depths, positioned south-west of the Great Abandoned Central Mine and east of the Hylia Canyon Mine. It is the Depths counterpart to Tadarok Shrine on the Surface, following the game’s usual relationship between Shrine of Light and Lightroot names. Activating it illuminates the surrounding section of the Depths map, creates a fast-travel point and restores hearts damaged by Gloom while Link stands within its light.

Koradat is more important as a navigation and quest checkpoint than as a settlement. It has no confirmed resident population, shop, inn, named merchant or permanent faction base. Its main local point of interest is a sword-bearing statue, the first of a chain used during the Master Kohga of the Yiga Clan quest.

Location and boundaries

Koradat Lightroot stands in a broad open section of the Depths between several large underground landmarks. The Great Abandoned Central Mine is to the north-east, while the Hylia Canyon Mine lies to the west or south-west depending on the route used. The Lightroot’s immediate area is therefore best understood as a travel junction, not as a named town or mine district.

Not included as part of Koradat Lightroot

This separation matters because the Lightroot is sometimes described in guides by reference to the nearby mine or the quest route. Those nearby places are connections, not constituent rooms or districts of Koradat itself.

What Koradat Lightroot does

Like other Lightroots, Koradat has four practical functions:

What Koradat Lightroot does: steps

  1. 01
Illuminates the surrounding Depths. The darkness around the root is replaced by a large local pool of light.

What Koradat Lightroot does: steps

  1. 01
Reveals surrounding map data. The nearby section of the Depths map becomes visible when the Lightroot is activated.

What Koradat Lightroot does: steps

  1. 01
Creates a fast-travel point. Once activated, Koradat Lightroot can be selected from the map for later travel.

What Koradat Lightroot does: steps

  1. 01
Restores Gloom-damaged hearts within its light. Standing beneath an activated Lightroot reverses the temporary reduction to Link’s maximum health caused by Gloom. It does not function as a shop, bed or general healing facility.

Access and routes

Surface-to-Depths route

Koradat is most naturally approached through a nearby chasm in the Central Hyrule area. A player emerging from a suitable chasm should use Brightbloom Seeds, the light from thrown materials or a vehicle to establish a direction before travelling through the dark.

The map relationship with Tadarok Shrine provides another useful method. Lightroots normally correspond to Surface Shrines, and their names are anadromes: Tadarok becomes Koradat when reversed. If Tadarok Shrine has already been discovered, switching between the Surface and Depths map layers gives a reliable target for Koradat’s approximate position.

From the Great Abandoned Central Mine

The Great Abandoned Central Mine is the most useful nearby reference point. Koradat lies to its south-west. From the mine, travel across the open Depths while marking the Lightroot’s position on the map. The route may require climbing or gliding around ridges and Gloom-covered ground, so carrying Brightbloom Seeds is advisable.

Do not confuse the nearby mine’s own Lightroot access with Koradat. The mine is a separate named location, even though some guides use the Great Abandoned Central Mine as a starting point for locating Koradat.

During Master Kohga of the Yiga Clan

If Koradat is reached as part of the Master Kohga of the Yiga Clan quest, activate the Lightroot before following the statue trail. The quest route identifies a sword-bearing statue south of Koradat. Following the statues leads onward through the Depths towards Kawatik Lightroot, the South Lomei Depths Labyrinth and later areas connected with the Yiga objective.

The quest guide recommends using a Fanplane along the rail route towards Koradat in the preceding section of the mission. Once Link reaches the Lightroot, examining it establishes the travel point, after which the first statue can be found to the south.

Nearby connections

The relationship with Tadarok Shrine is structural, not a direct underground passage. Activating Tadarok Shrine does not activate Koradat automatically, and activating Koradat does not complete the shrine. Each must be visited separately. The usefulness of the pairing is mainly map navigation.

Named directory

Quest-associated landmark

The sword-bearing statue is described by guides as a landmark rather than as a separately named map location. It should not be given an invented proper name. Its role is to mark the continuation of the Master Kohga statue trail.

Master Kohga of the Yiga Clan walkthrough

The statue trail eventually passes through dangerous terrain and can bring Link near a Frox. A guide recommends using a slope and Ascend to bypass the creature if necessary rather than fighting it directly. This is a route option for the wider quest journey, not a special mechanic of Koradat Lightroot.

Master Kohga of the Yiga Clan walkthrough: steps

  1. 01
Decide whether to explore the South Lomei Depths Labyrinth. It is an optional neighbouring location on the wider route, not part of Koradat Lightroot itself.

Enemies, hazards and preparation

No unique boss or permanently assigned enemy is verified as part of Koradat Lightroot itself. The main hazards are the ordinary environmental dangers of the Depths:

The Lightroot’s light helps with Gloom recovery, but it does not make the surrounding area safe from enemies or environmental damage.

Items and collectibles

The confirmed purpose of Koradat’s central structure is activation, illumination and travel. No unique chest reward, shop inventory, named collectible or exclusive item is established by the sources consulted for this guide.

This does not prove that every loose material, weapon, ore deposit or random enemy drop is absent. Depths resources and enemy drops can vary by encounter and are not treated here as fixed Koradat rewards. Players seeking a complete item directory should inspect the surrounding mine and nearby named areas separately rather than attributing their contents to the Lightroot.
