Key takeaways

  • Bamitok Shrine is at approximately 3094, -3210, 0096, inside Mount Dunsel Cave Other map references place the shrine chamber around 3094, -3209, 0082–0106, reflecting different coordinate points within the cave and entrance area.
  • The shrine’s trial is Rauru’s Blessing, so there is no puzzle inside the shrine itself. The cave journey functions as the practical challenge.
  • The shrine chest contains a Big Battery and the altar provides one Light of Blessing.
  • The route begins near Gama Cove, north-east of Lurelin Village, and involves swimming into Mount Dunsel Cave.
  • Enemies on the approach include Horriblins and Like Likes, including electric variants according to the route descriptions.
  • The cave is a separate location from Lurelin Village, Sifumim Shrine and the nearby surface coastline. They are useful navigation references, but they are not part of Bamitok Shrine itself.

About this guide

Base game guide for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Spoilers: This page discusses the shrine’s cave route, enemies and reward.

Overview

Bamitok Shrine is a hidden Shrine of Light inside Mount Dunsel Cave, in the south-east of Hyrule. Although the shrine itself is a short Rauru’s Blessing chamber, reaching it requires an underground route through vines, water, climbing sections and several cave enemies.

The shrine lies north-east of Lurelin Village, near Gama Cove. It is most naturally reached from the lakeside cliff north of the cove, although the entrance can also be approached from the surrounding Mount Dunsel area. The shrine’s reward is a Big Battery, making it particularly useful for players developing vehicles and other Zonai-powered machines.

Location and boundaries

Bamitok Shrine is not an exposed surface shrine. Its visible shrine chamber is located inside Mount Dunsel Cave, a cave system beneath the hills north-east of Lurelin Village.

The useful local geography can be separated into four distinct areas:

Do not confuse Bamitok Shrine with Sifumim Shrine, which is in Lurelin Village itself, or with the wider East Necluda coastline. The shrine’s entrance route is linked to the coast, but the shrine’s actual boundary begins inside Mount Dunsel Cave.

How to reach Bamitok Shrine

The most direct route begins on the cliff above Gama Cove.

The route descriptions consistently emphasise the same sequence: enter from the Gama Cove side, clear vines, pass Horriblins, avoid the Like Likes, glide across a gap and climb into the final tunnel.

Useful preparation

You do not need a special quest or key to enter the shrine. However, the following make the approach easier:

The cave contains slippery surfaces and a sizeable gap. If you fall, you may need to swim or climb back into position, so avoid rushing the glide.

Recommended route from the surface

  1. 01
Travel to the coast north-east of Lurelin Village.
  2. 02
Look for the southern approach to Mount Dunsel Cave near Gama Cove.
  3. 03
Enter the water and swim north into the cave entrance.
  4. 04
Cut through the vines blocking the first passage.
  5. 05
Continue into the next chamber and deal with, or avoid, the two Horriblins.
  6. 06
Cut through the additional vines and descend the sloping passage.
  7. 07
Keep to the right side of the chamber to reduce the risk from the Like Likes hanging above the route.
  8. 08
Follow the tunnel and turn left as the cave narrows.
  9. 09
    Glide across the large gap.
  10. 10
Climb the slippery wall on the far side to reach the next tunnel.
  11. 11
Continue past the Like Likes in the final section.
  12. 12
The shrine is at the end of the passage.

Mount Dunsel Cave route

Mount Dunsel Cave is the substantive part of the shrine visit. Bamitok Shrine itself contains no conventional puzzle, but the cave acts as a compact environmental challenge.

First vine barrier

The initial vines block the passage from the water-filled entrance area. Cut them with a sword, spear or other bladed weapon. A blunt weapon or bare-handed attack is not the intended solution.

Horriblin chamber

The next room contains two Horriblins. They hang from the cave ceiling and can attack from awkward angles. You can fight them directly, but the route can also be advanced by moving through the chamber without fully clearing every enemy.

Like Like section

Further into the cave, Like Likes hang from the ceiling. The route is easier if you keep close to the right-hand side of the chamber, as described in the shrine route guides. At least some accounts identify these as electric Like Likes, so do not casually attack them with metal equipment during a storm or while exposed to shock effects.

There are additional Like Likes in the tunnel beyond the large gap. You can fight them, bypass them or use ranged attacks before continuing to the shrine.

Gap and climbing wall

The most navigationally significant section is the large gap. From the starting side, glide directly across towards the opposite wall. The wall is slippery, so climbing it may consume more stamina than expected. Aim for the tunnel entrance above rather than trying to climb farther than necessary.

Rain can make the surface route more awkward before entering the cave, but the cave’s own climbing problem is primarily caused by the wall’s slippery material rather than a separate shrine mechanic.

Bamitok Shrine walkthrough

Once inside the shrine chamber, the completion process is straightforward.

There is no combat encounter, puzzle apparatus or shrine quest inside the chamber. The chest and altar are the only required objectives.

Shrine inventory

The Big Battery is a fixed chest reward, not a random drop. It increases the amount of Zonai energy available for powering devices compared with a standard small battery cell, and is especially useful when building flying machines, boats and other multi-device vehicles.

Enemies and hazards

Enemies

The approach can include the following named enemy types:

The exact encounter presentation can vary depending on the route taken through the cave and whether enemies have already been defeated. These are ordinary cave encounters rather than a shrine boss. There is no boss fight associated with Bamitok Shrine.

Environmental hazards

The most common mistake is treating the location as an ordinary visible shrine and searching the surrounding hills for an exterior entrance. The shrine is underground, and the cave route is essential.

Items and collectibles

Cave resources

The broader Mount Dunsel Cave may contain ordinary cave resources and collectible materials, but the available shrine-specific sources do not establish a complete, fixed inventory of every ore deposit, Bubbulfrog location or loose item in the entire cave system. Those should not be treated as part of the shrine’s confirmed reward list without a separate cave survey.

Connections to nearby locations

Lurelin Village

Lurelin Village is the nearest major settlement and the most useful starting reference. Bamitok Shrine is north-east of the village, while Sifumim Shrine is associated with Lurelin Village itself. The two shrines should be treated as separate destinations.

Gama Cove

Gama Cove is the key approach landmark. The southern cave entrance is north of the cove, and the recommended route begins from the cliff above its waters.

Kotimab Lightroot

Bamitok Shrine has a Depths counterpart named Kotimab Lightroot. The lightroot is a separate underground location in the Depths rather than an additional chamber within Bamitok Shrine. The paired relationship is useful when comparing Surface shrine and Depths map positions.

Suggested exploration route

For a practical south-east Necluda trip, use this order:

If you are already at the Rabella Wetlands Skyview Tower, some guides recommend launching from the tower and gliding south-east towards the cave area. This is a useful aerial approach, but it does not remove the need to enter Mount Dunsel Cave and follow the underground route.

Suggested exploration route: steps

  1. 01
    Begin at Lurelin Village.
  2. 02
Restock arrows, healing food and a bladed weapon.
  3. 03
Travel north-east along the coast towards Gama Cove.
  4. 04
Enter Mount Dunsel Cave from the southern approach.
  5. 05
Collect the Big Battery from Bamitok Shrine.
  6. 06
Activate the shrine for fast travel.
  7. 07

Lore and trivia

Bamitok Shrine is named Bamitoka Shrine in Japanese. Its Japanese name is associated with Kamitoba, a place name in Japan, following the broader naming pattern used for many shrines in the game.

The shrine is also a good example of a Rauru’s Blessing location where the real challenge is moved outside the shrine entrance. The chamber itself is deliberately minimal, while the surrounding cave tests navigation, resource management and environmental awareness.
