Key takeaways
- Sinonoyk Lightroot is in the Central Hyrule Depths, at approximately −0204, 0450, −0472 to −0493, depending on the map source and coordinate convention used.
- It corresponds to Kyononis Shrine on the surface, near Hyrule Castle Town Ruins.
- The usual early route is to enter through Hyrule Field Chasm, activate Nisoij Lightroot, then travel north.
- The area around Sinonoyk is useful for collecting pristine weapons held by spirit soldiers. These weapons return after a Blood Moon once their individual spawn conditions have been met.
- From Sinonoyk, the next nearby Lightroot to the east is Oyimay Lightroot Nisoij Lightroot lies to the south.
- The Lightroot is separate from the surface shrine, the Hyrule Field Chasm, Gloom’s Approach and the wider Central Hyrule Depths. These are connected locations, not subareas of Sinonoyk Lightroot.
Note
Base game guide. This article covers Sinonoyk Lightroot itself and the immediately connected points of interest that are useful when reaching, using or leaving it. It does not treat the entire Central Hyrule Depths as part of Sinonoyk Lightroot.
Overview
Sinonoyk Lightroot is a Lightroot in the Central Hyrule Depths, positioned beneath the Hyrule Field and Hyrule Castle Town Ruins area. Its surface counterpart is Kyononis Shrine, near the Hyrule Castle Town Ruins. Activating Sinonoyk Lightroot illuminates the surrounding Depths, reveals that section of the Depths map and creates a permanent fast-travel point.
Although the Lightroot itself is a small location with no settlement, shop or named resident, it is a useful navigation hub. The surrounding open area contains several spirit-soldier weapon positions, and the Lightroot provides a convenient place from which to explore north towards Gloom’s Approach, east towards Oyimay Lightroot, or back south towards Nisoij Lightroot and the broader Central Hyrule Depths.
Developed overview
Sinonoyk Lightroot stands in a broad, dark section of the Central Hyrule Depths. Before activation, the surrounding landscape is difficult to read because the Depths are unlit and the map is concealed. Brightbloom Seeds can help during the approach, but activating the Lightroot is the permanent solution for the immediate area.
Interacting with the Lightroot has three important effects:
Like other Lightroots, Sinonoyk also removes the temporary gloom effect from Link’s heart containers when he is near it. It does not function as a shop, healing bed, cooking station or quest-giver.

Location and boundaries
Sinonoyk Lightroot belongs to the Central Hyrule Depths category. It should not be expanded into a guide to every location in that region. The Central Hyrule Depths also contain places such as Gadohsi Lightroot, Gustaf Canyon Mine, Giant’s Grove, the Great Abandoned Central Mine, Floating Coliseum and other locations that are separate from Sinonoyk.
For practical purposes, the local area can be divided into three layers:
The Lightroot platform
This is the immediate glowing-root structure that Link activates. It is the actual named location and the only part that should be called Sinonoyk Lightroot without qualification.
The surrounding Depths
The nearby open ground contains dark terrain, gloom patches and weapon-holding spirit soldiers. These surrounding weapon positions are useful associated points of interest, but they are not individually named subareas of Sinonoyk Lightroot.
The connected routes
The main routes lead south to Nisoij Lightroot, east to Oyimay Lightroot and north towards the dangerous approach to the Hyrule Castle area. These routes belong to the wider Depths rather than to Sinonoyk itself.
Surface counterpart: Kyononis Shrine
Sinonoyk Lightroot corresponds to Kyononis Shrine. The shrine is on the surface near the edge of the Hyrule Castle Town Ruins, while the Lightroot is directly below the same general position in the Depths. This surface-to-Depths relationship is one of the most useful ways to locate Sinonoyk if the surface map is already familiar.
Kyononis Shrine is a Combat Training shrine. Its presence does not mean that the Lightroot contains the same trial or a shrine-like interior. The two locations are separate content on separate map layers.
Kyononis Shrine directory
Kyononis Shrine contains a combat tutorial involving a Training Construct. Completing it awards a Light of Blessing, while a chest in the rear chamber contains a Zonaite Sword. These rewards belong to the shrine and should not be counted as Sinonoyk Lightroot loot.

Access and routes
Recommended route from Hyrule Field Chasm
The most straightforward route for a first visit is through Hyrule Field Chasm.
Nisoij is described as being just south of the Hyrule Field Chasm arrival area, while Sinonoyk is north of Nisoij.
Route from the surface counterpart
Kyononis Shrine is a useful visual reference, but the shrine itself does not provide a direct tunnel into the Depths. To reach Sinonoyk from the surface, Link still needs a suitable chasm or an existing Depths fast-travel route.
Route from an activated Lightroot
If Sinonoyk is already active, the safest method is simply to fast-travel to it. This is especially useful when returning for weapon farming, map completion or a later journey towards the Hyrule Castle Depths.
Route from Nisoij Lightroot
This is the most natural neighbouring connection. Travel north from Nisoij, placing Brightbloom Seeds ahead of Link when the terrain becomes difficult to read. The distance is not large by Depths standards, but the unlit landscape can make the route appear more complicated than it is.
Route towards Oyimay Lightroot
Oyimay Lightroot lies to the east of Sinonoyk. Once Sinonoyk is active, it becomes a useful stepping stone for revealing more of the Central Hyrule Depths map. Published route lists identify Oyimay as the next Lightroot to the east in this sequence.
Recommended route from Hyrule Field Chasm
- 01Enter the Depths through Hyrule Field Chasm.
- 02Use the paraglider during the descent and land safely.
- 03Activate Nisoij Lightroot, which lies south of the area where the Hyrule Field Chasm route reaches the Depths.
- 04From Nisoij, travel north.
- 05Use Brightbloom Seeds to expose the route and watch for gloom.
- 06Follow the open terrain north until the glow of Sinonoyk Lightroot becomes visible.
- 07Activate Sinonoyk and use it as the local fast-travel point.
Items and collectibles
Pristine weapons
The most important practical reason to revisit Sinonoyk is the concentration of spirit soldiers holding pristine weapons in the surrounding area. The weapons are not dispensed by the Lightroot itself. They are found on weapon-holding ghostly soldiers positioned on raised mounds or similar terrain features in the Depths.
The exact weapon offered is not guaranteed to be identical on every account or at every position. Weapon quality and availability are also affected by the game’s pristine-weapon rules. A weapon that has not yet been properly activated as a pristine spawn may initially appear in a decayed form, so players should not assume that every nearby weapon position immediately gives a high-quality weapon.
Game8 specifically identifies the area around Sinonoyk as a useful pristine-weapon farming location and recommends returning after a Blood Moon to reset collected weapons.
Weapon-farming procedure
The Lightroot is particularly useful here because it lets Link fast-travel directly back to the farming area. It also provides light, reducing the need to spend Brightbloom Seeds while searching.
Other resources
The wider Central Hyrule Depths can contain zonaite, fauna, ore deposits and ordinary monster drops, but the available sources do not establish a complete item directory limited specifically to the immediate Sinonoyk platform. For that reason, these general Depths resources should not be presented as fixed Sinonoyk rewards.
Weapon-farming procedure
- 01Activate Sinonoyk Lightroot.
- 02Search the nearby mounds and raised ground for spirit soldiers.
- 03Take the weapon you want.
- 04If the weapon is not pristine, drop it and continue searching, or use the game’s broader weapon-spawn rules to establish pristine variants.
- 05Mark useful weapon positions on the map if you want a repeatable route.
- 06Return after a Blood Moon for respawned weapons.
Enemies and hazards
No unique boss encounter is documented as part of Sinonoyk Lightroot itself. The principal hazards are environmental and navigational:
The most serious nearby story-related danger is northwards, in the direction of the Hyrule Castle Depths and Gloom’s Approach. That area is separate from Sinonoyk and should not be entered casually if the player is not prepared for late-game combat and story content. A fast-travel point at Sinonoyk is therefore useful as a retreat location.
Missions and progression
Sinonoyk Lightroot is not known to begin a dedicated quest, side adventure or shrine quest. Its function is exploration, map revelation and fast travel.
It may nevertheless be useful during several kinds of progression:
The Lightroot can be activated at any point after Link gains access to the Depths. It is not locked behind a temple, regional phenomenon or main-story completion condition.
Suggested exploration route
For a first Central Hyrule expedition, the following route is efficient:
Suggested exploration route: steps
- 01Enter through Hyrule Field Chasm.
- 02Activate Nisoij Lightroot.
- 03Travel north to Sinonoyk Lightroot.
- 04Search the nearby mounds for spirit soldiers and weapon spawns.
- 05Continue east to Oyimay Lightroot if your supplies and gloom protection are adequate.
- 06Return to Sinonoyk by fast travel.
- 07Leave the area by travelling south, or use the Lightroot as a staging point for later Hyrule Castle exploration.
For a weapon-farming trip
- 01Fast-travel to Sinonoyk Lightroot.
- 02Equip a strong light source or activate the Lightroot if it is not already active.
- 03Sweep the nearby weapon mounds in a consistent direction.
- 04Record which positions provide the weapon types you want.
- 05Leave unwanted weapons in place if you are testing spawn conditions.
- 06Return after a Blood Moon and repeat.

Lore and naming
Sinonoyk follows the naming pattern used by many Depths Lightroots. Its name is closely related to the name of its surface shrine, Kyononis. The Lightroot and shrine therefore act as a pair linking the two map layers. This is a gameplay and naming relationship rather than evidence that the Lightroot contains a second shrine or that the two locations are the same place.
