About this guide
Base game guide for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Major spoilers: This guide gives the full shrine solution, including the optional treasure chest.
Overview
Sibajitak Shrine is a Shrine of Light in the Eldin region of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Its trial is called “Alignment”, and it tests the use of Recall and Ascend rather than combat, Ultrahand construction or elemental effects.
The shrine stands on the surface near Lake Darman, north of Death Mountain. Its surrounding area is part of the wider Eldin landscape, but the shrine itself is a discrete location rather than a settlement, cave network or named subregion. The guide therefore treats the shrine exterior, its entrance area and the interior trial as the relevant scope. Nearby locations such as Goron City, Death Mountain and the Depths lightroot are discussed only as navigation references, not as parts of Sibajitak Shrine.
The puzzle is built around three rotating vertical sections. By rewinding the movement of these sections with Recall, Link can bring the pillars into alignment and create a continuous route for Ascend. The shrine also contains one optional chest holding a Strong Zonaite Longsword. Completing the trial awards a Light of Blessing.
Location and boundaries
Surface location
Sibajitak Shrine is in the Eldin region, on the northern side of Death Mountain’s wider volcanic landscape. It is associated with Lake Darman, a dried-up lake area on the surface. One reference describes the shrine as being on the eastern shore of the dried Lake Darman, while another places it generally north of Death Mountain.
The shrine is not part of Goron City, the Fire Temple, Death Mountain itself or the nearby mine-cart facilities. These are neighbouring destinations and route references only.
Included scope
There are no residents, businesses, mission-givers or settlement facilities inside the shrine itself.

How to reach Sibajitak Shrine
From Goron City
A practical route begins at the trolley stop near Marakuguc Shrine in Goron City. GameWith’s route recommends using the mine-cart system: build or use an automobile, place it on the appropriate rail and ride towards the area near the shrine. The route allows Link to get off part-way along the track and continue towards the back of the area, where the shrine can be found.
This approach is particularly useful if you are already exploring the Eldin regional phenomenon, Goron City or the surrounding mine routes. It also avoids a long climb over the rough volcanic terrain.
Suggested route
The exact vehicle design is not important for the shrine itself. The mine-cart route is simply a convenient approach, not a required shrine mechanic.
Other approaches
The shrine does not require a quest to be active. It is available as an ordinary surface Shrine of Light once you reach it.
Navigation tips
---
Suggested route
- 01Travel to Goron City or another unlocked Eldin fast-travel point.
- 02Make your way to the trolley stop near Marakuguc Shrine.
- 03Use a mine-cart vehicle on the correct rail.
- 04Ride towards the northern Death Mountain and Lake Darman area.
- 05Disembark when the route reaches the vicinity of the shrine.
- 06Continue through the nearby passage and activate Sibajitak Shrine.
Nearby connections
Sibajitak Shrine is useful as a fast-travel point for the northern side of the Eldin and Death Mountain area. It is also linked geographically to the Depths through Katijabis Lightroot, listed as its Depths counterpart. This does not mean the shrine and lightroot form one continuous interior dungeon. They are separate locations on different world layers that occupy corresponding map positions.

Shrine interior: Alignment
The interior is a vertical puzzle chamber containing three rotating pillar sections. The objective is to align these sections so that Link can use Ascend to pass through them.
The key point is that the pillars do not need to be manually pushed into place. Instead, observe their movement, then use Recall to reverse the relevant section’s recent motion. The correct alignment creates a continuous vertical column or opens a route through the upper section.
Abilities required
No combat ability, elemental weapon, Zonai device or special armour is required.
---
Abilities required
| Ability | Use in the shrine |
|---|---|
| Recall | Reverses the movement of a rotating pillar section, allowing it to line up with another section |
| Ascend | Lets Link travel upwards through the aligned pillar sections |
Full walkthrough
1. Observe the rotating sections
At the beginning of the trial, look at the three vertical pillar sections. They rotate around their central axes, creating gaps and misalignments between the lower, middle and upper portions.
Do not immediately try to climb. The intended solution is to watch the movement and identify which section needs to be rewound.
2. Align the lower and middle sections
Use Recall on the appropriate moving section so that the lower and middle portions line up beneath the opening in the upper area.
The important visual target is a usable vertical route. When the pillars are aligned, Link should be able to stand beneath the opening and use Ascend through the connected structure.
The middle and lower sections are the first alignment problem. GameWith describes the initial step as using Recall to align the middle and lower columns.
3. Collect the optional chest
The shrine chest is in an upper open section, separate from the direct final route.
The chest contains a Strong Zonaite Longsword. It is not required to complete the shrine, so it is possible to finish the trial without collecting it. However, it is the shrine’s only listed treasure and is worth taking if you have inventory space.
4. Return to the alignment puzzle
After collecting the chest, return your attention to the three main sections. The final route requires all three sections to be aligned into a continuous vertical path.
Use Recall again, this time on the upper or middle section as necessary. The precise timing can vary depending on where the sections are when you enter or after you have moved around the chamber, so rely on the visible gaps rather than trying to reproduce a fixed animation frame.
5. Align the upper section
The upper section must be brought into line with the already connected lower and middle sections.
Zelda Dungeon summarises the intended sequence as aligning the upper and middle pieces, then using Recall to align the bottom section with the other two.
6. Use Ascend to reach the altar
Once all three sections form a continuous route:
If Ascend reports that the surface is not suitable, the sections are not aligned enough. Move slightly, wait for the rotating platform to reach the correct position or use Recall again.
7. Claim the reward
The shrine is complete when Link reaches the altar and receives the Light of Blessing. There is no boss encounter, combat trial or additional shrine quest.
---
3. Collect the optional chest: To reach it
- 01Align the lower and middle sections as in the first step.
- 02Position Link beneath the part of the upper structure that leads towards the open chamber.
- 03Use Ascend through the connected pillars.
- 04Move into the upper opening.
- 05Open the chest.
5. Align the upper section: A reliable method is
- 01Stand where you can see the upper and middle sections clearly.
- 02Activate Recall on the relevant rotating section.
- 03Wait until its pillar lines up with the section below.
- 04Cancel Recall once the alignment is correct.
- 05Look for a continuous vertical surface or opening beneath Link.
6. Use Ascend to reach the altar
- 01Stand beneath the aligned pillars.
- 02Activate Ascend.
- 03Choose the aligned surface above Link.
- 04Rise through the pillar sections.
- 05Continue to the shrine’s upper platform.
- 06Examine the altar to receive the Light of Blessing.
Puzzle techniques and troubleshooting
Recall is the primary solution
The pillars rotate continuously, but Recall lets Link reverse the movement of a selected section. This is more precise than trying to jump between moving surfaces.
A useful way to think about the puzzle is:
If the chest route does not work
If Ascend will not reach the chest platform:
If the final route will not open
The final route requires all three sections to align. A partial alignment may appear correct from one side but still leave a gap.
Can the shrine be solved without the chest?
Yes. The Strong Zonaite Longsword is optional. You can complete the alignment route and reach the altar without entering the chest platform.
Can the shrine be solved without Ultrahand?
Yes. The published solutions rely on Recall and Ascend. No construction is needed inside the shrine.
---
If the final route will not open: Try the following
- 01Stop moving and observe the rotation.
- 02Identify the section creating the gap.
- 03Use Recall on that section.
- 04Wait until its pillar matches the section below.
- 05Check the route from directly underneath.
- 06Use Ascend only after the entire route looks continuous.
Rewards and inventory
The Strong Zonaite Longsword is a fixed chest reward rather than a random drop. The Light of Blessing is the standard completion reward for the shrine.
About the Strong Zonaite Longsword
The weapon is placed in the upper chest area reached by aligning the lower and middle pillar sections and using Ascend. It is not awarded for defeating an enemy, and there is no combat encounter guarding it according to the available walkthroughs.
---
Rewards and inventory
| Reward | How to obtain | Required for completion? |
|---|---|---|
| Strong Zonaite Longsword | Open the optional chest in the upper section | No |
| Light of Blessing | Reach the shrine altar after completing Alignment | Yes, for shrine completion |
Hazards and enemies
Enemies
No shrine enemy or boss is listed for Sibajitak Shrine. The challenge is purely environmental and mechanical.
Environmental hazards
The shrine interior itself has no special damage hazard described in the available walkthroughs. The main risks are:
The surrounding Eldin approach may be more hazardous than the shrine interior because of steep terrain and the region’s volcanic environment, but those hazards belong to the wider Eldin route, not to the shrine trial.
---
Missions and progression
Sibajitak Shrine is not presented as a mission-only location. It can be discovered and completed independently of the main story.
It is located in the Eldin region, which is closely associated with the Goron storyline and the Fire Temple, but the shrine does not require completion of the Eldin regional phenomenon. The mine-cart route from Goron City is a convenient access method, not a progression lock.
Progression states
No missable reward or story-only version of the shrine has been identified in the researched sources.
---
Progression states
| State | What changes |
|---|---|
| Before discovery | The shrine appears as an inactive location on the surface |
| After activation | Fast travel becomes available and the shrine interior can be entered |
| After chest collection | The Strong Zonaite Longsword chest is permanently opened |
| After completion | The shrine is marked complete and the Light of Blessing has been awarded |
| After returning later | The interior remains accessible, but the completed reward is not repeated |
