Overview

Siakij Lightroot is a Lightroot in the Mount Lanayru Depths of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It is found in the eastern part of the Depths beneath the Mount Lanayru region, near the Wellspring of Wisdom and a Bargainer Statue. Activating it illuminates the surrounding Depths map, restores Gloom-damaged hearts and creates a permanent fast-travel point. Its surface counterpart is Jikais Shrine.

This guide covers the base game only. Siakij Lightroot is a single location rather than a settlement or broad region, so neighbouring places such as the Wellspring of Wisdom, nearby Lightroots and the surface shrine are treated as connections rather than being folded into Siakij itself.

Overview

Siakij Lightroot is one of the 120 Lightroots scattered throughout the Depths. Lightroots serve a role similar to Skyview Towers on the surface, although their map coverage is local rather than regional. When Link activates one, the surrounding underground map becomes visible, the immediate darkness is dispelled and hearts lost to Gloom are restored. Activated Lightroots also become fast-travel points.

The Lightroot is positioned beneath the eastern Mount Lanayru area. Its placement is particularly useful because this section of the Depths is separated by large underground barriers and can be difficult to navigate while unlit. The surface and Depths maps also follow the game’s usual relationship: the Lightroot corresponds to the location of a surface Shrine. In this case, that shrine is Jikais Shrine.

Siakij Lightroot itself should not be confused with the Wellspring of Wisdom. The Wellspring is a separate named Depths landmark nearby, while Siakij is the Lightroot installation and its small surrounding platform. The Bargainer Statue is also a separate object, although it is close enough to make the Lightroot a convenient stopping point for players collecting Poes or exchanging them for goods.

Location and boundaries

Siakij Lightroot belongs to the Mount Lanayru Depths rather than to the surface Mount Lanayru area. The underground regional label is important because the Depths do not simply use surface place names as interchangeable boundaries. The Lightroot’s immediate scope consists of:

The Wellspring of Wisdom is nearby but separate. It should not be treated as part of Siakij Lightroot’s location directory. Likewise, Jikais Shrine is the Lightroot’s surface counterpart, not a subarea of the underground location.

Coordinates

Several online map conventions display Depths coordinates in different orders. A commonly cited coordinate entry gives Siakij Lightroot as:

Use the in-game map marker as the final authority if entering coordinates into an external map. The cited listing places the Lightroot southeast of the Wellspring of Wisdom and close to a Bargainer Statue.

How to reach Siakij Lightroot

The simplest approach is to enter the Depths through a chasm in the Mount Lanayru or eastern Hyrule area, then travel underground towards the Lightroot. Exact route difficulty depends on which entrances have already been discovered and which parts of the map have been illuminated.

Using the surface counterpart

Because Siakij Lightroot corresponds to Jikais Shrine, the surface map can help estimate its position. If Jikais Shrine is already activated, open the map and switch between the Surface and Depths layers. The matching Shrine and Lightroot relationship is one of the most useful ways to identify the approximate underground position of a missing Lightroot. Siakij’s counterpart relationship is specifically recorded as Jikais Shrine on the Surface.

This does not mean that the Shrine provides a direct entrance. A surface Shrine and its corresponding Lightroot are usually aligned geographically, but the underground terrain may still require a separate approach from a chasm.

Basic route procedure

  1. 01
Travel to a suitable chasm in or near the Mount Lanayru area.
  2. 02
Descend with the paraglider and illuminate the landing area before moving far.
  3. 03
Use the Depths map and the position of Jikais Shrine as a guide.
  4. 04
Follow open ground towards the Siakij marker, avoiding large Gloom-covered areas where possible.
  5. 05
Activate Siakij Lightroot as soon as it becomes visible.
  6. 06
Use the newly revealed map to plan the approach to the Wellspring of Wisdom or nearby Lightroots.
  7. 07
Visit the Bargainer Statue if you are carrying enough Poes and want to exchange them.

What activating Siakij Lightroot does

Activating the Lightroot provides the standard Lightroot benefits:

Map illumination

A surrounding section of the Depths becomes visible. This is often the most important reward, since underground routes, impassable walls and Gloom patches are difficult to read in complete darkness.

Gloom recovery

Lightroot activation restores hearts that have been damaged or greyed out by Gloom. It does not replace a complete healing meal for ordinary lost hearts, but it is a valuable recovery point during a long underground expedition. Lightroots are also useful places to return to after exploring dangerous sections of the Depths.

Fast travel

Once activated, Siakij Lightroot can be selected from the map as a fast-travel destination. This makes it a useful staging point for eastern Mount Lanayru exploration, especially if the player is collecting Poes, searching for underground landmarks or working through a larger Lightroot route.

Nearby connections

Wellspring of Wisdom

The Wellspring of Wisdom is the most important named landmark associated with the Lightroot’s immediate surroundings. Siakij is described as being southeast of it.

The Wellspring should be treated as its own location rather than as a room or subarea of Siakij Lightroot. The connection is geographical and navigational: once Siakij is active, its revealed map makes travelling towards the Wellspring easier.

Bargainer Statue

A Bargainer Statue is located close to Siakij Lightroot. The statue is a separate facility with its own exchange function. Bargainer Statues accept Poes and offer Depths-related items in return. The exact stock and unlock state depend on the player’s progression and on which Bargainer Statues have been discovered.

The statue is therefore best classified as a nearby service point, not as a shop operated from the Lightroot itself.

Jikais Shrine

Jikais Shrine is Siakij Lightroot’s surface counterpart. It belongs to the surface layer and is not physically part of the underground location. The counterpart relationship is useful for map comparison and for locating the Lightroot’s general position.

Facilities and services

Siakij Lightroot

Function: map illumination, Gloom recovery and fast travel.

Siakij Lightroot has no verified shop inventory, crafting service, bed, stable, healing NPC or quest-giver. Its value is infrastructural rather than commercial.

Bargainer Statue

Function: exchange Poes for Depths-related goods.

The Bargainer Statue near Siakij provides a useful reason to revisit the area after collecting Poes elsewhere. It should not be described as a normal shop, since it uses a special exchange system rather than Rupees and its stock is tied to Bargainer Statue progression.

No verified businesses or residents

The available evidence does not verify any named resident, ordinary NPC, faction headquarters, guard post, stable, mine operation or enterable building within Siakij Lightroot itself.

Enemies and hazards

No unique enemy or boss is specifically verified as belonging to Siakij Lightroot. The main dangers are environmental and navigational:

Darkness

Before activation, the surrounding Depths are unlit. Brightbloom Seeds, Zonai light devices and Miner’s Armour can reduce the risk of falling or missing a route.

Gloom

Gloom may cover parts of the route around the Lightroot and nearby landmarks. Standing on it temporarily reduces Link’s maximum available health. Sundelion meals and Lightroots help manage this problem.

Underground terrain

The Depths can contain steep cliffs, broken ledges and walls that do not correspond to obvious surface paths. If a direct route appears blocked, consider circling around rather than repeatedly climbing through Gloom.

Hostile encounters

Ordinary Depths enemies may appear along approach routes, but the researched sources do not identify a fixed named enemy camp, miniboss arena or boss encounter at Siakij Lightroot. Random or routine encounters should not be presented as a unique local feature.

Collectibles and rewards

The fixed, verified reward for reaching Siakij is the Lightroot’s normal activation benefit:

The nearby Bargainer Statue may allow Poe exchanges, but those are not rewards contained inside Siakij Lightroot. No unique chest, armour piece, shrine treasure or named collectible is verified as being located directly at the Lightroot.

Suggested exploration route

For players exploring the area for the first time:

Suggested exploration route: steps

  1. 01
Activate Siakij Lightroot first. This removes the immediate darkness and provides a safe return point.
  2. 02
Check the map for Gloom boundaries. Newly revealed terrain makes it easier to identify open ground and underground walls.
  3. 03
Visit the nearby Bargainer Statue. Exchange Poes if you have enough and if its available stock is useful.
  4. 04
Travel towards the Wellspring of Wisdom. Use the Lightroot as a recovery and fast-travel anchor rather than trying to complete the surrounding region in one unbroken journey.
  5. 05
Mark unexplored routes. The eastern Mount Lanayru Depths can be easier to revisit in short trips, particularly if your battery capacity, armour or healing supplies are limited.
  6. 06
Return to the surface through a known chasm. Fast travel back to Siakij later when continuing the Depths survey.
