About this guide

Spoilers: This guide covers the complete Runakit Shrine puzzle, its treasure and its relationship to the surrounding Hyrule Ridge area.

Overview

Runakit Shrine is a Shrine of Light in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Its internal trial is called Built to Carry, a name that accurately describes the challenge: Link must transport a large stone orb across several sets of rails by using Ultrahand-built constructions. The shrine is found in Upland Lindor, within the wider Hyrule Ridge region, rather than being part of a separate settlement or dungeon area. It also corresponds to Tikanur Lightroot in the Depths.

The shrine is found in Upland Lindor, within the wider Hyrule Ridge region, rather than being part of a separate settlement or dungeon area. It also corresponds to Tikanur Lightroot in the Depths.

Location and boundaries

Runakit Shrine stands in Upland Lindor, a highland area of Hyrule Ridge. It is close to Hyrule Ridge Chasm and northwest of Thundra Plateau, but these are neighbouring geographical references rather than parts of the shrine itself. The shrine’s scope is limited to the exterior entrance and its enclosed puzzle chambers. It should not be treated as a general guide to Hyrule Ridge, Lindor’s Brow or the nearby chasm.

The most reliable approach is to activate Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower and glide west towards the shrine. Its elevated position makes it easy to spot from the air. The shrine sits on a rocky platform and is approached from above or from the surrounding high ground rather than through a cave entrance. Its listed map position is approximately -2530, 1170, 0178.

Access and preparation

No story quest, regional phenomenon or special equipment is required to enter Runakit Shrine. The important requirement is access to Ultrahand, which Link receives during the opening section of the game. The shrine is therefore possible relatively early, provided Link can reach the Hyrule Ridge highlands safely.

A paraglider is strongly recommended for the approach and for the shrine itself. Several stages involve dropping or gliding from one platform to another. The trial can technically be approached without treating the paraglider as a puzzle tool, but the intended route uses it repeatedly.

Internal layout and puzzle concept

Runakit Shrine is a multi-stage construction puzzle. The same orb is moved through successive areas, with each rail section requiring a different attachment method:

The shrine is designed to teach careful use of Ultrahand rather than speed. If the orb falls, the shrine provides a replacement from a floating column, so a failed attempt does not permanently block progress.

Internal layout and puzzle concept: steps

  1. 01
Place the orb directly on rails.
  2. 02
Widen the orb with cylindrical stone pieces so it can travel across rails that are too far apart.
  3. 03
Build a rail hook or angled carrier to move the orb along the final route.
  4. 04
Put the orb into the floor switch to open the exit.

Walkthrough

1. Reach the first rail

Enter the shrine and look towards the large orb on the raised platform. The exit is visible beyond the initial gap, but the orb must be carried there first.

The orb fits directly on these rails, so no construction is needed at this stage.

2. Widen the orb for the second rails

The next rails are spaced too widely for the orb to sit on them by itself. Nearby stone cylinders act as stabilisers.

Try to attach the cylinders symmetrically. If one is at a noticeably different angle from the other, the orb may twist or fall off. If it does fall, a replacement orb can be obtained from the floating column.

3. Collect the treasure chest

The treasure chest is on a raised platform near the eastern side of the third area. It is not required for shrine completion, but it contains the shrine’s only listed chest reward.

The chest contains a Mighty Construct Bow. The bow is a fixed shrine reward rather than a random drop.

4. Build the final carrier

Return to the orb and detach the cylinders. The last rail section requires a different construction.

One documented solution uses an angled stone piece and a flat stone slab:

Another workable design uses a straight block attached to an angled or triangular piece, with the orb suspended beneath the assembly. The exact shape can vary, provided the construction catches the rail and carries the orb to the final platform.

5. Open the exit and claim the reward

Completing the shrine also restores Link’s health and makes Runakit Shrine available as a permanent fast-travel destination.

1. Reach the first rail

  1. 01
Cross the gap to the platform with the orb.
  2. 02
Use Ultrahand to pick up the orb.
  3. 03
Place it on the first pair of rails.
  4. 04
Let it roll down to the lower platform.
  5. 05
    Glide down after it.

2. Widen the orb for the second rails

  1. 01
Pick up one cylindrical stone piece.
  2. 02
Attach it to one side of the orb.
  3. 03
Attach a second cylinder to the opposite side.
  4. 04
Place the orb between the rails so that one cylinder rests on each rail.
  5. 05
Release it and allow the assembly to slide down.
  6. 06
    Glide to the next platform.

3. Collect the treasure chest: A simple method is

  1. 01
Leave the orb temporarily where it is.
  2. 02
    Take two angled stone pieces.
  3. 03
Place them across the rails to form a small bridge or support.
  4. 04
Jump across the pieces to reach the ladder.
  5. 05
Climb up and open the chest.

4. Build the final carrier

  1. 01
    Take an angled stone piece.
  2. 02
Attach a flat slab to the upper section of the angled piece.
  3. 03
Attach the orb to the top of the flat slab.
  4. 04
Place the angled piece over the final rail.
  5. 05
Release the construction and let it carry the orb across.
  6. 06
Glide down to the final area.

5. Open the exit and claim the reward

  1. 01
Detach the orb from the final construction.
  2. 02
Place it in the circular floor switch.
  3. 03
    The bars open.
  4. 04
Walk through to the green altar.
  5. 05
Examine the altar to receive the Light of Blessing.

Temporary puzzle objects

These are construction components for the trial, not permanent inventory items. Their arrangement is fixed within the shrine, although players can solve the rail sections with different Ultrahand designs.

Hazards, secrets and troubleshooting

If the orb falls

The orb can be dropped or knocked off the rails. According to the shrine walkthrough, another orb emerges from the floating column, allowing the puzzle to be reset without leaving the shrine.

If the final carrier tips over

Do not try to force the entire construction back into position while it is attached to the rail. Detach the orb, rebuild the carrier with a flatter angle and ensure that the angled section is properly seated on the rail before releasing it.

If you miss the chest

The chest is optional and can be collected before completing the final rail section. Since the chest platform is beside the third area, it is best to claim it before sending the orb onwards. This avoids having to recreate an earlier construction.

Is there a hidden second chest?

The researched shrine references identify one treasure chest, containing the Mighty Construct Bow, at the top of the ladder beside the easternmost platform. No reliable source consulted for this guide verifies an additional chest.
