Note

This guide covers Ninjis Shrine, its entrance area and the shrine quest that unlocks it. It does not treat the entire Great Hyrule Forest or Korok Forest as part of the shrine itself. Those are neighbouring locations with their own characters, activities and shrine sites.

Overview

Ninjis Shrine is a Shrine of Light in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Its trial is Rauru’s Blessing, so the shrine contains no puzzle room or combat challenge. Instead, the main task is reaching its hidden entrance in the Lost Woods area. The shrine becomes accessible through the Shrine Quest “Maca’s Special Place”, which begins in Korok Forest after Link has restored the forest’s normal state.

The shrine is suspended below a small sky-island landmark above the southern part of the Lost Woods. The intended route is to approach from the sky, locate the shrine’s green glow through the forest canopy and dive towards it. Although the shrine is geographically close to Korok Forest, it is not reached by simply walking south from the forest floor.

Rewards and items

Some sources describe the reward simply as a Construct Bow, while others identify it as a Mighty Construct Bow. The more detailed shrine walkthroughs name the chest item as Mighty Construct Bow.

Prerequisite: restore access to Korok Forest

Ninjis Shrine is not normally available as an immediately visible shrine marker on the forest floor. You first need access to Korok Forest and the ability to interact with its inhabitants.

The Great Hyrule Forest’s unusual gloom prevents ordinary access through the Lost Woods. The usual solution is to enter the Depths beneath the forest and use the roots and surrounding terrain to reach the underside of Korok Forest, then ascend into the settlement. After addressing the problem affecting the Great Deku Tree, the forest returns to its normal state and the Koroks become available for dialogue and side activities.

The exact story sequence can vary slightly depending on how much of the regional content you have completed, but Maca’s Special Place cannot simply be started by finding the shrine from the surface. Maca must be available in Korok Forest.

Starting Maca’s Special Place

Maca’s quest is principally a navigation challenge. There is no conventional shrine puzzle before entering the shrine. The important clue is that the destination is below the sky route, not on a normal forest path.

---

Once Korok Forest is functioning normally

  1. 01
    Travel to Korok Forest.
  2. 02
Find Maca near the southern part of the settlement, around the Great Deku Tree.
  3. 03
Speak with Maca to begin Maca’s Special Place.
  4. 04
Follow the quest marker or use the location Maca indicates.
  5. 05
Travel to Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower or another suitable aerial launch point.
  6. 06
Launch into the sky and glide towards the marked destination.

Recommended route: Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower

The most practical route for a first visit is:

GameSpot’s route describes travelling from Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower towards the North Hyrule Sky Archipelago, then looking down from the aerial islands to spot the shrine in the Lost Woods below.

Recommended route: Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower: steps

  1. 01
Activate and use Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower.
  2. 02
    Launch into the sky.
  3. 03
Aim towards the North Hyrule Sky Archipelago.
  4. 04
Look for the large circular or prominent sky-island structures used as aerial reference points.
  5. 05
Continue towards the location marked by Maca.
  6. 06
Search below for Ninjis Shrine’s distinctive green glow.
  7. 07
    Dive towards the shrine.
  8. 08
Open the paraglider before reaching the canopy or shrine entrance.
  9. 09
Land beside the glowing shrine entrance and enter.

Route from Bravery Island

Another useful approach starts from Bravery Island, a sky-island location above the forest:

Zelda Dungeon describes this as a direct dive route from Bravery Island and its nearby smaller island.

Route from Bravery Island: steps

  1. 01
    Travel to Bravery Island.
  2. 02
Move towards the smaller south-eastern sky island.
  3. 03
Look for a tree-stump-like launch point with a leaf-shaped feature.
  4. 04
    Dive from the island.
  5. 05
Watch for the shrine below while falling.
  6. 06
Deploy the paraglider and land safely.

Navigation advice

---

Maca’s Special Place is the Shrine Quest directly associated with Ninjis Shrine. It is a short quest, but its route is easy to misunderstand because Maca’s chosen destination is reached from above.

The quest is complete when Link reaches and enters Ninjis Shrine. There is no separate boss battle or extended puzzle sequence attached to the quest in the shrine itself.

Quest checklist

---

Ninjis Shrine is a Rauru’s Blessing shrine. This means there is no internal puzzle room, ability test, moving machinery or enemy encounter. The challenge has already been completed outside by finding the entrance.

Walkthrough

The chest is positioned directly along the route through the shrine, so there are no hidden side chambers or optional puzzle branches to search.

Walkthrough: steps

  1. 01
    Enter Ninjis Shrine.
  2. 02
Walk straight ahead into the main chamber.
  3. 03
    Open the treasure chest.
  4. 04
    Collect the Mighty Construct Bow.
  5. 05
    Continue to the altar.
  6. 06
Examine the altar to receive a Light of Blessing.

Rewards

Four Lights of Blessing can be exchanged at a Goddess Statue for either a Heart Container or a Stamina Vessel. This is a general Shrine of Light system rather than a special property of Ninjis Shrine.

Enemies

There are no shrine enemies or boss encounters inside Ninjis Shrine. The associated quest is a travel and positioning challenge rather than a combat trial.

The surrounding Lost Woods may contain the ordinary dangers of the Great Hyrule Forest region, but those should not be counted as part of the shrine’s interior content.

Environmental hazards

The shrine itself has no special environmental hazard once entered.

Secrets and missable content

Ninjis Shrine does not have a known permanently missable chest or branching reward. The chest remains available when the shrine is entered, and the Light of Blessing is obtained from the altar.

The main progression-sensitive point is the quest giver. If Maca cannot be found or does not offer the quest, the likely issue is that Korok Forest’s story problem has not yet been resolved. This is a progression condition, not a permanently missable event.

Efficient route

This is the fastest method if you only want the shrine:

Efficient route: steps

  1. 01
Complete the Korok Forest progression needed to speak with Maca.
  2. 02
    Start Maca’s Special Place.
  3. 03
Fast travel to Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower.
  4. 04
Launch towards the North Hyrule Sky Archipelago.
  5. 05
    Dive to Ninjis Shrine.
  6. 06
Collect the bow and Light of Blessing.

Forest exploration route

This route keeps Ninjis Shrine associated with its actual setting without treating the entire Great Hyrule Forest shrine network as part of Ninjis Shrine.

---

For players exploring the region more thoroughly

  1. 01
Enter the Great Hyrule Forest through the Depths route.
  2. 02
    Reach Korok Forest.
  3. 03
Resolve the Great Deku Tree’s problem.
  4. 04
Speak with Maca and start the shrine quest.
  5. 05
Visit Musanokir Shrine in Korok Forest if it has not already been completed.
  6. 06
    Launch towards Ninjis Shrine.
  7. 07
After completing Ninjis Shrine, return to the forest and continue towards nearby shrine locations such as Sakunbomar Shrine or Pupunke Shrine.

Korok Forest

Korok Forest is the most important neighbouring location because it contains Maca and the quest’s starting point. It also contains the Great Deku Tree and other Korok-related activities. The forest settlement is not an extension of the shrine, however, and its own characters, quests and shrine content should be documented separately.

Great Deku Tree

The Great Deku Tree is the major story landmark connected to the shrine’s access conditions. Link’s interaction with the tree determines whether the forest can be explored normally and whether Maca can be approached for the quest.

Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower

Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower is the most useful launch facility for reaching the shrine. It does not unlock the shrine by itself, but it provides the height and position needed to approach the shrine’s hidden entrance.

North Hyrule Sky Archipelago and Bravery Island

The sky islands above the forest provide alternative aerial routes. Bravery Island is particularly useful because the shrine can be seen below from the smaller nearby island during the dive.

---

Ninjis Shrine is one of the game’s examples of a shrine whose challenge is primarily finding the entrance. The shrine’s apparent simplicity is deliberate: the player must interpret Maca’s description, recognise that the destination is in the sky-to-surface vertical space and use the paraglider to reach a concealed location.

Its placement also reinforces the vertical design of Tears of the Kingdom. The shrine is not simply hidden behind a wall or cave entrance. Instead, it is concealed by the relationship between:

That design separates Ninjis Shrine from ordinary surface shrines and from the larger shrine puzzles elsewhere in the Great Hyrule Forest.

---

Where is Ninjis Shrine?

It is south of Korok Forest in the Lost Woods area of the Great Hyrule Forest. The approximate coordinates are 0353, 1890, 0178, though published guides give slightly different values.

Why cannot I find the entrance on the ground?

Ninjis Shrine is intended to be reached by diving from the sky. Travel to a sky-island launch point, look for the shrine’s green glow below and glide down to it.

Who gives the shrine quest?

Maca gives Maca’s Special Place in Korok Forest.

Do I need to complete the Great Deku Tree section first?

You need Korok Forest to be restored enough for its inhabitants to be spoken to normally. If Maca is not available, continue the Great Hyrule Forest progression involving the Great Deku Tree.

What is inside Ninjis Shrine?

A chest containing a Mighty Construct Bow, followed by the altar that grants a Light of Blessing. There are no enemies or puzzles inside.

Is Ninjis Shrine the same as Musanokir Shrine?

No. Both are associated with the Great Hyrule Forest and Korok Forest area, but they are separate Shrines of Light with different entrances and rewards.

Is the Mighty Construct Bow missable?

There is no reported permanent missability condition. Once the shrine is entered, the chest can be opened before completing the altar.
