Key takeaways
- Netamnet Lightroot is in the Hyrule Field Depths, not at the surface shrine or inside Elma Knolls Well.
- Its coordinates are approximately (-0595, 1550, -0599) Sources vary slightly in the final coordinate or vertical value, so use the name and map position as well as the coordinate.
- It corresponds to Tenmaten Shrine, whose name is reversed to form “Netamnet”.
- The easiest surface route uses Elma Knolls Well, at roughly (-0672, 1350, 0088), followed by an underground cave route to Tenmaten Shrine.
- A Flux Construct II is located south-west of the Lightroot Treat it as a nearby combat destination, not as part of the Lightroot itself.
- The Lightroot has no shop, resident, quest giver or special reward of its own Its standard rewards are map illumination and fast travel.
Note
Base game guide. This article covers Netamnet Lightroot itself and its immediate connections in the Depths. It does not treat the whole Central Hyrule Depths as part of the location, and it keeps the surface landmark Tenmaten Shrine and Elma Knolls Well separate from the Lightroot.
Overview
Netamnet Lightroot is a small but useful landmark in the Hyrule Field Depths, directly below Tenmaten Shrine on the surface. Activating it illuminates the surrounding section of the Depths map and permanently adds the Lightroot as a fast-travel point. Its position also makes it a practical staging point for exploring the dark underground area north-west of Hyrule Castle.
The Lightroot is not a settlement, mine, dungeon or quest hub. There are no documented residents, shops, services, named buildings or dedicated missions attached to it. Its importance comes from three things: its map-lighting function, its relationship with Tenmaten Shrine, and its proximity to a Flux Construct II encounter to the south-west.
The paired surface shrine is hidden in a cave network reached through Elma Knolls Well. That connection is useful in both directions: the surface shrine can help you identify the Lightroot’s position, while the activated Lightroot provides a reliable return point in the Depths.
Location and boundaries
Netamnet Lightroot is a single Lightroot landmark in the underground region beneath the northern part of Hyrule Field. It lies south-west of the Elma Knolls Chasm, according to location guides listing the surrounding Lightroots.
For the purposes of this guide, the location includes:
The following are neighbouring or paired places, but are not subareas of Netamnet Lightroot:
This distinction matters because the surface shrine is not physically inside the Lightroot. The game uses a correspondence system between surface shrines and Depths Lightroots. In most cases, the Lightroot name is the shrine name written backwards, but the pair is a map relationship rather than a visible underground pillar connecting the two locations.
The Lightroot itself
When activated, Netamnet Lightroot produces the usual Lightroot effects:
The Lightroot does not have a unique puzzle, treasure chest, named NPC or special activation condition beyond reaching the structure and examining it. Like other Lightroots, it can be activated as soon as Link reaches it, provided the player can navigate the Depths safely.
Verified named entries within the location
No separate named buildings, businesses, residents, factions or facilities are verified within the Lightroot’s immediate boundaries.
The Lightroot itself: steps
- 01It brightens the surrounding Depths.
- 02It fills in the corresponding section of the Depths map.
- 03It becomes a fast-travel point.
- 04It provides a useful visual landmark in an otherwise dark area.

Surface counterpart: Tenmaten Shrine
Netamnet Lightroot corresponds to Tenmaten Shrine, a surface Shrine of Light. The shrine is also known as a Rauru’s Blessing shrine. It is located in a cave system north-west of Hyrule Castle and is reached through Elma Knolls Well.
Tenmaten Shrine is separate from Netamnet Lightroot in both layer and function:
The shrine itself does not contain a combat trial or puzzle. Once found, the player can enter, open the chest containing a Large Zonai Charge, and examine the altar to receive a Light of Blessing. These are rewards for Tenmaten Shrine, not for activating Netamnet Lightroot.

| Place | Layer | Function |
|---|---|---|
| Tenmaten Shrine | Surface caves | Shrine completion, treasure and Light of Blessing |
| Netamnet Lightroot | Depths | Map illumination and fast travel |

How to reach Netamnet Lightroot
There are two useful approaches: enter through the Depths directly, or use the surface shrine’s position to identify the underground counterpart.
Route 1: Enter through Elma Knolls Chasm
This is the most direct route if you are already exploring the Depths.
The exact route through the underground terrain can vary depending on which nearby Lightroots have already been activated. The important navigation reference is the Lightroot’s position south-west of Elma Knolls Chasm, rather than a particular tunnel or road.
Route 2: Find the surface pair first
If you have not yet found the Lightroot, Tenmaten Shrine provides a reliable surface reference.
The shrine is approximately at (-0593, 1551, -0014), while the well is some distance away because the shrine is inside the cave system rather than directly at the well mouth.
Route 1: Enter through Elma Knolls Chasm
- 01Locate Elma Knolls Chasm on the surface.
- 02Enter the chasm and descend into the Depths.
- 03Activate any nearby Lightroots first if the area is heavily obscured.
- 04Travel towards Netamnet Lightroot at approximately (-0595, 1550, -0599).
- 05Use Brightbloom Seeds, arrows fused with Brightbloom Seeds, or other light sources to reveal cliffs, pools and enemy positions.
- 06Activate Netamnet Lightroot as soon as you reach it.
Route 2: Find the surface pair first
- 01Travel to Elma Knolls Well, approximately (-0672, 1350, 0088).
- 02Descend into the well.
- 03Illuminate the cave system with Brightbloom Seeds.
- 04Follow the cave route to Tenmaten Shrine.
- 05Mark the shrine on your map if you want a surface reference for Netamnet Lightroot.
- 06Return to the Depths through a chasm and use the shrine’s position to guide your underground search.
Nearby encounter: Flux Construct II
A Flux Construct II is documented south-west of Netamnet Lightroot, at approximately (-0705, 1279, -0514). Some guides give a nearby coordinate around (-0594, 1550, -0617) for the encounter area, reflecting differences in map descriptions or coordinate recording. The consistent point is that the boss is south-west of Netamnet Lightroot.
Because the Flux Construct is not inside the Lightroot itself, it should be treated as a nearby destination rather than a subarea of Netamnet Lightroot.
Preparing for the fight
A Flux Construct II is a large Zonai-built enemy whose vulnerable core shifts between different body parts. The fight rewards careful use of Ultrahand and mobility:
The exact arena layout and incidental drops should not be treated as fixed Netamnet Lightroot rewards. The verified association is the nearby Flux Construct II encounter, not a unique Lightroot chest or guaranteed item cache.
Enemies, hazards and environmental concerns
No location-specific enemy roster is verified for the Lightroot platform itself. The main hazards are environmental and regional:
Darkness
Before activation, the surrounding Depths are dark. This can conceal:
Brightbloom Seeds are the most dependable preparation. Fire-based light can help temporarily, but it does not replace activating a Lightroot because it will not reveal the map permanently.
Gloom
Gloom may be present on routes through the surrounding Depths. Contact reduces Link’s maximum heart capacity until it is restored by suitable healing, Lightroots or surface conditions. Avoid crossing large gloom patches unnecessarily, especially before fighting the nearby Flux Construct II.
Water and cave routes
The surface route through Elma Knolls Well leads into a cave system where water and darkness can slow progress. One guide specifically warns that players may need to swim to shore while dealing with Horriblins in the cave route to Tenmaten Shrine. This concerns the surface cave approach, not the Lightroot platform itself.
Items and collectibles
Fixed rewards
Netamnet Lightroot itself has no separately documented treasure chest or unique collectible. Its fixed benefits are:
Rewards from the paired shrine
These should be recorded under Tenmaten Shrine rather than under Netamnet Lightroot.
Materials
Materials found in the surrounding Depths should not be treated as guaranteed location rewards unless a reliable source establishes a fixed placement. The Lightroot is associated with community reports of Bomb Flower farming, but those reports are not sufficient evidence for a formal fixed collectible directory. Therefore, Bomb Flowers and other ordinary Depths materials are not listed here as guaranteed Netamnet Lightroot contents.
Missions and progression
There is no verified mission that begins at Netamnet Lightroot, and activating it is not documented as a prerequisite for a specific quest.
The nearby surface shrine is also not tied to a shrine quest. Tenmaten Shrine is a discovery challenge: the player must locate the cave route through Elma Knolls Well, but the shrine interior is a straightforward Rauru’s Blessing chamber.
Suggested exploration route
For a first visit, the following order is efficient:
Suggested exploration route: steps
- 01Prepare on the surface. Carry Brightbloom Seeds, healing food and at least one gloom-recovery meal.
- 02Find Elma Knolls Well if you want to understand the Tenmaten Shrine connection.
- 03Complete Tenmaten Shrine first if you have not already done so. This gives the Large Zonai Charge and Light of Blessing.
- 04Enter the Depths through Elma Knolls Chasm or another convenient chasm.
- 05Activate Netamnet Lightroot immediately.
- 06Check the map boundary after activation, but do not assume the entire Hyrule Field Depths region has been explored.
- 07Travel south-west only if prepared for the nearby Flux Construct II.
- 08Return to Netamnet Lightroot and use it as your fast-travel base for further exploration.
Note
Tenmaten Shrine → Netamnet Lightroot
Lore and naming
Netamnet is one of the Lightroots whose name is the reverse of its surface shrine’s name:
This naming pattern is one of the game’s most useful exploration clues. If you have found an unfamiliar surface shrine, checking the corresponding position on the Depths map may reveal the associated Lightroot, and the reverse is also true. The relationship is generally spatial and cartographic, not a claim that a physical root extends directly from the shrine to the underground structure.
