About this guide
Base game scope. This guide covers MihcihC Lightroot itself and the immediately connected landmarks that are useful when travelling to or from it. It does not treat the whole Gerudo Desert Depths as part of the Lightroot. Nearby mines, monster outposts and relay facilities are listed separately where they are distinct locations.
Overview
MihcihC Lightroot is a travel point in the Gerudo Desert Depths in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It stands beneath Chichim Shrine on the Surface, following the game’s usual Lightroot-to-Shrine correspondence. Activating it illuminates a small section of the surrounding Depths map, removes the local darkness and unlocks a fast-travel destination.
The Lightroot is particularly useful as a navigation marker between the Abandoned Kara Kara Mine, the Abandoned Gerudo Mine and several monster outposts in the southern Gerudo Depths. It also lies close to a route used during the Yiga Clan-related Depths progression, although MihcihC Lightroot itself is not a dungeon, settlement or shop.
Location and boundaries
MihcihC Lightroot is a single marked Lightroot rather than a broad district. Its immediate area consists of open Depths terrain, gloom-covered ground and connecting routes. The Lightroot’s illumination radius extends into the surrounding Gerudo Desert Depths, but the nearby named sites remain separate locations.
The most important boundary distinction is between MihcihC Lightroot and the Abandoned Kara Kara Mine. The mine is not part of the Lightroot, even though it is one of the most useful destinations reached from it. The mine is located beneath Kara Kara Bazaar and has its own Lightroot, Tatayam Lightroot, nearer its northern side.
Likewise, the Abandoned Gerudo Mine is a separate major location to the west. MihcihC Lightroot is best understood as a waypoint on the approach to that mine, not as an entrance or subordinate area of it.
Named locations within the practical vicinity
The two Monster Outposts are not named settlements. They are descriptive map locations identified by their position and contents in regional location records.

Named locations within the practical vicinity
The Lightroot itself
MihcihC Lightroot has the standard Lightroot structure: a large luminous root rising from the Depths floor, with a green activation terminal at its base. Interacting with the terminal activates the root.
Lightroots also restore visibility in areas affected by the general darkness of the Depths. They do not function as shops, inns or ordinary settlements, and no named resident is permanently based at MihcihC Lightroot.
Services and facilities directory
The absence of a listed service should not be confused with the absence of nearby services elsewhere in the Gerudo Depths. The Abandoned Kara Kara Mine, for example, contains a Forge Construct, but that service belongs to the mine rather than to MihcihC Lightroot.

Activation provides three practical benefits
- 01Illumination: the nearby gloom-darkened area becomes visible.
- 02Map data: the corresponding section of the Depths map is revealed.
- 03Fast travel: MihcihC Lightroot becomes a selectable travel point.
How to reach MihcihC Lightroot
From the Gerudo Desert Surface
The most direct general approach is through a Gerudo-region chasm. The Surface desert is difficult to navigate during its sandstorm conditions, and the underground terrain may be easier to traverse once a nearby Lightroot has already been activated.
The exact best chasm depends on which part of the Gerudo region has already been explored. MihcihC Lightroot is underground and cannot be reached simply by standing below Chichim Shrine on the Surface. The Shrine and Lightroot correspond by position, but there is no ordinary direct passage that automatically connects the two.
From Tatayam Lightroot and the Abandoned Kara Kara Mine
The Abandoned Kara Kara Mine is north of MihcihC Lightroot. From the mine and Tatayam Lightroot:
The mine itself is beneath Kara Kara Bazaar and contains the Miner’s Mask, a Forge Construct and a Schema Stone for Instant Scaffold, making it a useful place to visit before or after lighting MihcihC.
During the Yiga Clan route
MihcihC Lightroot is close to a route associated with the Master Kohga and Yiga Clan progression. During the journey towards the Abandoned Gerudo Mine, Link follows a series of statues bearing swords. The route passes near MihcihC Lightroot before continuing towards the mine.
This makes the Lightroot a sensible activation point even if the player discovers it while following the story route. It provides a safe travel anchor for returning to the area after leaving the mine or completing a Yiga-related objective.

From the Gerudo Desert Surface: A practical route is
- 01Enter the Gerudo Depths through an accessible chasm in the desert or nearby Gerudo region.
- 02Use Brightbloom Seeds to establish visibility.
- 03Travel towards the central and southern Gerudo Depths.
- 04Use the visible Lightroot glow as a landmark once MihcihC’s vicinity comes into range.
- 05Activate MihcihC Lightroot before continuing towards the nearby outposts or the Abandoned Kara Kara Mine.
From Tatayam Lightroot and the Abandoned Kara Kara Mine
- 01Leave the mine and travel south through the Gerudo Depths.
- 02Follow illuminated ground where possible.
- 03Keep an eye out for gloom pools and hostile camps.
- 04MihcihC Lightroot is the major waypoint on the southern approach.
Nearby locations
Abandoned Kara Kara Mine
The Abandoned Kara Kara Mine is north of MihcihC Lightroot and is one of the most significant nearby destinations. It lies beneath Kara Kara Bazaar and contains several useful rewards and facilities.
The mine’s Steward Construct provides the Instant Scaffold Schema Stone after the relevant hostile encounter. The mine also contains a Master Kohga Voice Memory associated with the Forge Construct area.
Abandoned Gerudo Mine
The Abandoned Gerudo Mine is farther west and is a separate mine complex. MihcihC Lightroot is useful as a staging point on the approach, particularly during the Yiga Clan sequence involving Master Kohga.
Do not confuse it with the Abandoned Kara Kara Mine. Both are Gerudo Depths mines, but they have separate layouts, facilities and progression roles.
Relay Base east of MihcihC Lightroot
A Relay Base is recorded east of MihcihC Lightroot. Its storehouse contains two treasure chests:
These rewards are associated with the Relay Base rather than with MihcihC Lightroot itself.
Monster Outpost northwest of MihcihC Lightroot
A Monster Outpost lies northwest of MihcihC Lightroot. Its recorded contents include hostile monsters, weaponry and a treasure chest containing a Giant Brightbloom Seed. The camp includes Blue Bokoblins, an Aerocuda and mining or rock-based equipment.
Monster Outpost southeast of MihcihC Lightroot
Another Monster Outpost lies southeast of the Lightroot. Its recorded enemies include Blue Bokoblins and Lizalfos, with weapons such as a Rock Hammer, Long Stick and Traveler’s Spear. This is a separate combat location, not a facility operated by the Lightroot.

Enemies and hazards
MihcihC Lightroot itself is not documented as a boss arena. The principal danger is the surrounding Depths environment.
Common hazards
The Lightroot’s activation helps with visibility but does not remove gloom from the entire regional map. Players still need gloom-resistant equipment, Sundelion meals or careful movement when travelling beyond the illuminated area.
Nearby combat locations
Regional records place a Frox between Gataharak Lightroot and MihcihC Lightroot. This is a wider-area encounter rather than an enemy permanently attached to the Lightroot.
---
Items and collectibles
No unique treasure chest is specifically attributed to the MihcihC Lightroot platform in the sources consulted. The most useful nearby recorded rewards are found in separate locations.
Nearby verified rewards
These should not be treated as Lightroot rewards. The Lightroot’s fixed reward is its map illumination and fast-travel function.

Suggested exploration route
For a first visit, the following route gives the most value without treating the whole Gerudo Depths as part of MihcihC’s area:
---
Suggested exploration route: steps
- 01Approach with Brightbloom Seeds. Keep a reserve for the final unlit section.
- 02Activate MihcihC Lightroot immediately. This reveals the nearby terrain and creates a return point.
- 03Check the northwest Monster Outpost. Clear it if you want the Giant Brightbloom Seed and enemy drops.
- 04Visit the Relay Base east of the Lightroot. Search the storehouse for the Large Crystallized Charge and Shock Trap.
- 05Travel north towards the Abandoned Kara Kara Mine. Use Tatayam Lightroot as the next major navigation point.
- 06Explore the mine separately. Collect the Miner’s Mask, deal with the Yiga encounter and obtain the Instant Scaffold Schema Stone.
- 07Return to MihcihC Lightroot before travelling west. It provides a useful fast-travel anchor for the Abandoned Gerudo Mine route.
- 08Prepare for longer western travel. Carry gloom recovery, Brightbloom Seeds, weapons suitable for armoured enemies and a vehicle or Autobuild design if the terrain becomes inconvenient.
Progression and missability
MihcihC Lightroot is not known to have a permanently missable activation condition. It remains available for activation throughout the base game once Link can reach the surrounding Depths.
The nearby Yiga-related events are progression-dependent, however. Some encounters, Voice Memories and interactions in the Gerudo Depths are tied to the Master Kohga sequence and may not appear in exactly the same context before or after their associated objectives. The Lightroot itself remains a permanent travel point regardless of story progress.

Surface counterpart and naming
MihcihC Lightroot corresponds to Chichim Shrine. The reversed-looking names are part of the game’s Lightroot and Shrine naming pattern. This is a relationship between two separate locations in different world layers, not evidence that Chichim Shrine is physically inside the Depths or that MihcihC Lightroot can be entered from the Shrine.
