Key takeaways
- Marari-in Shrine is at approximately 4633, -3715, 0018, on Eventide Island in the Necluda Sea.
- The shrine is part of the Eventide Island location hierarchy, not a separate surface settlement or an extension of Lurelin Village.
- Access requires the side quest Seeking the Pirate Hideout and the defeat of three pirate camps.
- The shrine entrance is inside Eventide Island Cave, at the rear of the cave, rather than on the island’s summit or coastline.
- The shrine contains a single treasure chest holding a Ruby, followed by a Light of Blessing.
- A useful route is to travel from Cape Cales, using the Rabella Wetlands Skyview Tower as a nearby launch point if required.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Base game
Introduction
Marari-in Shrine is a hidden Shrine of Light in the Necluda Sea, on Eventide Island in the far south-east of Hyrule. It is not visible as a normal shrine on the island’s surface. Instead, it lies at the back of Eventide Island Cave, where its entrance is initially blocked by bars. To open it, Link must complete the local side quest Seeking the Pirate Hideout, defeat three pirate camps on Eventide Island and then clear the monster force occupying the cave.
The shrine itself is a Rauru’s Blessing trial. There is no internal puzzle or combat challenge. The real trial is the journey through Eventide Island and its cave, including the pirate camps, the cave’s boat-mounted enemy group and the improvised bridge needed to cross the spikes before reaching the shrine.
Note
Marari-in Shrine is inside Eventide Island Cave, at the back of the cave on Eventide Island.
Location and boundaries
The shrine’s place in the map hierarchy
Marari-in Shrine should be treated as a location within the following chain:
This distinction matters because the island, its cave and the shrine are separate named locations. The surrounding island contains the side quest and three pirate camps, while the cave contains the final enemy encounter, the blocked shrine entrance and the route to Marari-in itself. Eventide Island also has a separate Eventide Island Chasm, which belongs to the island’s wider geography but is not the shrine entrance.
The shrine is therefore not simply “on Eventide Island” in the sense of being exposed on the surface. The most precise description is:
Eventide Island
Eventide Island is a remote island in the south-eastern Necluda Sea. It is separated from the mainland by open water and is most easily reached by gliding, flying a Zonai Wing or building a boat. Cape Cales is identified as a practical launch point, and the Rabella Wetlands Skyview Tower is the nearest Skyview Tower cited by the walkthrough sources.
The island is the setting for the Seeking the Pirate Hideout side quest. Its important gameplay spaces are:
Eventide Island Cave
Eventide Island Cave is the shrine’s immediate parent area. The cave can be entered either by swimming towards its opening or by dropping into it from above. At the back of the cave is a boat occupied by a stronger group of Bokoblins. Beyond that encounter, wooden panels can be manipulated with Ultrahand to form a bridge across the spikes.
The cave should not be confused with the separate Eventide Island Chasm. The chasm is another named island feature, while the cave is the route that leads to Marari-in Shrine.

Access and recommended route
Preparation
There is no stated item requirement for entering the shrine, but the route can involve:
The enemy composition means this is not an ideal early-game destination unless Link is willing to avoid or tactically separate enemies. Nintendo Life specifically identifies the camps as containing Silver and Blue Bokoblins.
Route from the mainland
- 01Travel to Cape Cales or another suitable launch point on the Necluda coast.
- 02Use the Rabella Wetlands Skyview Tower if you need extra height for a glide.
- 03Reach Eventide Island by gliding, flying with a Zonai Wing or constructing a boat.
- 04Find the quest-giving NPC on the island.
- 05Begin Seeking the Pirate Hideout.
- 06Defeat the three marked pirate camps.
- 07Return to the NPC to advance the quest.
- 08Follow the information about the ship heading towards the cave at the end of the island.
- 09Enter Eventide Island Cave by swimming in or dropping down from above.
- 10Defeat the Bokoblin group on the moored boat.
- 11Use Ultrahand on the wooden panels to make a bridge over the spikes.
- 12Enter Marari-in Shrine once the bars have disappeared.

Seeking the Pirate Hideout
The shrine is gated by the local side quest rather than by a puzzle placed directly outside the shrine. An NPC on Eventide Island starts the quest after Link speaks to them. The task is to defeat three pirate camps around the island.
The three pirate camps
The camps are marked by sword icons once the quest is active. Their occupants include Silver Bokoblins and Blue Bokoblins, making the island combat substantially more dangerous than a simple shrine approach.
A sensible approach is to treat each camp as an independent fight:
The available sources confirm the three-camp objective and enemy strength, but do not provide canonical individual names for the camps. They should therefore be referred to descriptively rather than assigned invented names.
Returning to the quest NPC
After all three camps are defeated, return to the NPC who started the quest. The NPC explains that a ship is heading towards a cave at the end of the island. This points Link towards Eventide Island Cave, where the last group of enemies is located.
The sequence is important. Reaching the cave before clearing the three camps does not replace the quest objective. The cave encounter and shrine access follow the camp-clearing stage.
The three pirate camps
- 01Scout the camp from high ground.
- 02Identify explosive barrels, fire sources and elevated enemies.
- 03Use arrows to isolate dangerous targets.
- 04Avoid fighting every enemy in the centre at once.
- 05Use environmental hazards where practical.
- 06Collect dropped materials before moving on.
- 07Confirm that the camp is fully cleared before travelling to the next marker.
Cave walkthrough
Entering the cave
The cave entrance can be reached in two main ways:
Swimming is direct but may leave Link exposed before he reaches solid ground. Dropping from above can provide a better view of the interior and lets Link prepare before landing.
The moored boat
A boat is moored inside the cave. It contains a stronger Bokoblin group, so do not assume that clearing the three island camps has finished the combat section.
Building the bridge
After defeating the cave enemies, look for the wooden panels. Use Ultrahand to attach or position them so that they form a bridge across the spikes. The exact construction can be simple. The important requirement is to create a stable surface that allows Link to reach the shrine platform without falling.
The available walkthrough does not identify a required number of panels or a single mandatory arrangement, so players should treat the crossing as an open-ended Ultrahand construction rather than a fixed blueprint.
Building the bridge: A practical construction method is
- 01Pick up one wooden panel with Ultrahand.
- 02Lay it across the spike gap.
- 03Add further panels if the first does not reach the opposite side.
- 04Rotate or reposition the panels until they form a continuous crossing.
- 05Walk across carefully.
- 06Enter the shrine once the bars have been removed.
Shrine interior
Marari-in Shrine is a Rauru’s Blessing shrine. Once Link has reached the interior, the challenge is over. There is no conventional shrine puzzle, combat arena or device-based trial inside. The room consists of a short path through the void, a treasure chest and the altar at the end.
Interior walkthrough
The shrine’s role is to reward the exploration and combat that came before it. Its simplicity is deliberate: once the cave has been cleared and the bridge built, no further puzzle solution is needed.
Shrine inventory
The Ruby is fixed shrine treasure rather than a random drop. The Light of Blessing is the standard completion reward for this Shrine of Light.
Interior walkthrough
- 01Enter the shrine.
- 02Follow the path across the shrine’s platforms.
- 03Open the stone treasure chest in the centre of the middle platform.
- 04Collect the Ruby.
- 05Continue to the Rauru and Sonia Statue.
- 06Interact with the terminal.
- 07Receive the Light of Blessing.
Shrine inventory
| Location | Item | Acquisition |
|---|---|---|
| Centre of the middle platform | Ruby | Open the stone treasure chest |
| Shrine altar | Light of Blessing | Complete the shrine |
Enemies and hazards
Confirmed enemy groups
The sources do not establish a complete enemy-by-enemy inventory for every camp, so this guide does not assign additional enemy types to particular locations without evidence.
Environmental hazards
A fall into the spikes can be especially costly because it may combine environmental damage with enemy pressure. Clear the boat before attempting the bridge and build the crossing conservatively.
Confirmed enemy groups
| Name | Details |
|---|---|
| Silver Bokoblins | present in the island pirate camps. |
| Blue Bokoblins | present in the island pirate camps. |
| Stronger Bokoblin group | occupies the boat inside Eventide Island Cave. |
Connections to other areas
Necluda Sea
The Necluda Sea is the larger regional body of water surrounding Eventide Island. It separates the shrine from the mainland and determines the practical access methods: gliding, Zonai flight or boat travel.
Cape Cales
Cape Cales is presented as the mainland launch point for reaching Eventide Island. It is not part of the shrine’s interior area and should be treated as a neighbouring access location rather than a subarea of Eventide Island.
Rabella Wetlands Skyview Tower
Rabella Wetlands Skyview Tower is identified as the nearest Skyview Tower in the shrine walkthrough source. It is a route aid, not a prerequisite. Players can use other travel methods if they already have sufficient altitude, a boat or a suitable Zonai vehicle.
Ni-iraram Lightroot
Marari-in Shrine corresponds to Ni-iraram Lightroot in the Depths. This is a map and exploration connection rather than part of the shrine’s physical interior. The two locations occupy corresponding positions across the surface and Depths layers.
Named directory
Enemies and enemy groups
The directory preserves the distinction between named places, the quest, shrine objects and enemy categories. The three pirate camps are not given individual canonical names in the consulted sources, so they are not listed as separate named locations.

Lore, design and series context
Marari-in Shrine is one of the game’s examples of a shrine whose challenge is external to the shrine chamber. The location uses a layered approach:
The shrine’s placement also links the surface and Depths through Ni-iraram Lightroot, reinforcing *Tears of the Kingdom*’s vertical map structure.
Eventide Island itself has an earlier series association through The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, where Eventide Island was also a distinctive challenge location. That continuity concerns the island, not Marari-in Shrine, which is a Tears of the Kingdom shrine. The consulted shrine source lists Tears of the Kingdom as its main appearance.
