Key takeaways
- Kuhsagi Lightroot is in the Akkala Sea Depths, beneath the north-eastern Lomei Labyrinth.
- Its surface counterpart is Igashuk Shrine, not the surface maze itself.
- The normal intended route requires progress through the surface and Sky Island Lomei labyrinths before the Depths entrance opens.
- The quickest local approach is to use Ascend through the roof of the Lomei Depths Labyrinth, near the Flux Construct III, rather than searching for a long ground-level path.
- The connected Depths area contains a Flux Construct III, the Evil Spirit Armour reward, two reported Zonai Charges, a Zonaite Bow and a Soldier’s Spear.
- The Lightroot is a travel point, but it is not a settlement, shop, quest hub or staffed outpost.
Note
Base game guide. This article covers Kuhsagi Lightroot itself and the connected Lomei Depths Labyrinth area, including the nearby Flux Construct III encounter and fixed treasure reported within that structure. It does not treat the surface Lomei Labyrinth, the Lomei Labyrinth Sky Island, or Igashuk Shrine as parts of the Lightroot’s physical area, although all three are directly relevant to reaching it.
Overview
Kuhsagi Lightroot is a fast-travel point and map-lighting landmark in the Akkala Sea Depths, directly beneath the Lomei Labyrinth in north-eastern Hyrule. Unlike most Lightroots, it is not normally reached by following an ordinary Depths route from a chasm. Access is tied to the three-layer Lomei Labyrinth sequence: the surface maze, the Sky Island labyrinth and finally the Depths labyrinth. Once the route into the Depths is opened, Kuhsagi Lightroot can be activated from the roof of the underground maze.
The Lightroot is especially useful because the surrounding area contains a Flux Construct III, one of the more substantial fixed combat encounters in this isolated part of the Depths. The wider Lomei Depths Labyrinth also contains the reward associated with the Lomei labyrinth sequence, together with several fixed weapons and Zonai-related pickups.
Location and boundaries
Kuhsagi Lightroot belongs to the Akkala Sea Depths region. The relevant underground structure is the Lomei Depths Labyrinth, the third and lowest part of the Lomei labyrinth complex. The Lightroot sits on or immediately above the flat roof of this underground maze, while the Flux Construct III occupies the nearby combat area.
For clarity, the following locations are connected but should not be merged into one area:
Neighbouring or related, but separate
The surface and Sky Island labyrinths are progression areas for reaching Kuhsagi Lightroot, but they are not underground subareas of the Lightroot. Similarly, Igashuk Shrine is paired with Kuhsagi Lightroot by position, but it is a separate shrine location on the surface.

The first three entries are the locations most directly relevant to the underground route. The surface maze, Sky Island maze and shrine are included here as linked destinations, not as parts of the Lightroot’s local physical boundary.

What Kuhsagi Lightroot does
Like other Lightroots, Kuhsagi Lightroot has two practical functions:
The associated location entry classifies it as a travel point and identifies Igashuk Shrine as its surface counterpart.
Activating it is therefore worthwhile even if you have already completed the Lomei labyrinth reward sequence. It gives you a permanent return point for the Flux Construct III area and makes future exploration of the surrounding Akkala Depths easier.
There is no evidence that Kuhsagi Lightroot provides a shop, bed, cooking facility, armour service or named NPC interaction. It should be treated as a navigation and travel facility only.

What Kuhsagi Lightroot does: steps
- 01It illuminates the nearby Depths.
- 02It becomes a fast-travel point once activated.
Access and route
Intended route through the Lomei complex
The surface maze requires finding its terminal. A practical method is to climb onto the outside or upper surfaces of the maze where possible, then use the higher viewpoint to identify the route towards the centre. The central area contains Igashuk Shrine.
The Sky Island section is more open vertically. It contains four terminals, and the terminals are marked as objectives during the relevant progression. The outer walls can be climbed, while some interior walls are not climbable. Ascend points may also provide shortcuts where the ceiling allows it.
When the Sky Island sequence is complete, the route into the Depths opens. Descend into the Lomei Depths Labyrinth and look for the flat upper surface of the underground maze. Kuhsagi Lightroot is located there or can be reached from there by Ascend.
Fastest local method after descending
The Ascend route is generally faster than trying to work around the outside of the underground structure. Both the Gamer Guides database and PC Invasion identify ascending through the roof as the efficient approach.
Preparation checklist
The Sky Island maze is much easier if you use external walls, high ground and marked terminal locations rather than attempting to navigate every interior corridor in order.
---
Intended route through the Lomei complex: The normal route is a three-stage progression
- 01Complete the relevant portion of the surface Lomei Labyrinth.
- 02Travel to the Lomei Labyrinth Sky Island and activate its four terminals.
- 03Descend through the newly opened route into the Lomei Depths Labyrinth, then activate Kuhsagi Lightroot.
Fastest local method after descending: Once inside the Lomei Depths Labyrinth
- 01Land safely and use Brightbloom Seeds if the surroundings are not already visible.
- 02Look for the broad, flat roof sections of the underground maze.
- 03Move towards the area near the Flux Construct III.
- 04Use Ascend through the roof where the ceiling is valid.
- 05Activate Kuhsagi Lightroot as soon as you reach it.
- 06Either continue into the maze to collect its fixed treasure or fast-travel away and return later.
Lomei Depths Labyrinth
The Lomei Depths Labyrinth is the main subarea associated with Kuhsagi Lightroot. It is a large, maze-like underground structure with a broad roof and internal spaces below. The Lightroot is positioned on the upper part of this structure, while the Flux Construct III is found in the nearby combat area.
Do not assume that activating Kuhsagi Lightroot completes every activity in the labyrinth. The Lightroot only illuminates the area and establishes fast travel. The Flux Construct, armour reward and treasure still need to be collected separately.
Recommended exploration order
This order prevents the common problem of completing the boss encounter, leaving the area and later having to repeat the long labyrinth approach to collect missed treasure.
---
Recommended exploration order: For a clean first visit
- 01Activate Kuhsagi Lightroot.
- 02Scan the newly illuminated roof and nearby platforms.
- 03Locate the Flux Construct III arena.
- 04Defeat the Construct if prepared.
- 05Collect the armour reward and fixed items.
- 06Search the east and west sides of the structure for the reported chests and pickups.
- 07Use the Lightroot as a return point for any sections you skipped.
Enemies and boss encounter
Flux Construct III
The principal named combat encounter in the area is a Flux Construct III. It is considerably more dangerous than the lower-level Flux Constructs and can punish poorly timed attempts to grab its glowing core.
The general fight pattern remains based on identifying and attacking the Construct’s highlighted weak block. Depending on its current form, the weak block may be exposed on its body, underside or moving structure. Ascend, recall, mounted attacks and well-timed aerial shots can all help create openings, but the safest tactic depends on your equipment and familiarity with Flux Constructs.
Boss directory
No additional fixed boss or named enemy has been verified as part of Kuhsagi Lightroot itself. Ordinary Depths enemies may appear elsewhere in or around the labyrinth, but random or encounter-dependent spawns should not be presented as permanent Lightroot inhabitants.

Items and collectibles
The following rewards and pickups are reported in the Lomei Depths Labyrinth area connected to Kuhsagi Lightroot.
These entries come from the local area guide and should be treated as the verified, named reward set for this guide. The cited source does not provide a complete item-by-item map of every possible ore deposit, plant, breakable container or enemy drop, so those categories are not claimed to be exhaustive.
Item directory
The Evil Spirit Armour is a progression reward, while the bow, spear and Zonai Charges are physical pickups in the underground labyrinth. They should not be confused with random drops from the Flux Construct III.

Items and collectibles
| Item | Location or condition | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Evil Spirit Armour | Reward associated with completing the Lomei labyrinth sequence | Story or progression reward, not a random drop |
| Zonai Charge | Near the Flux Construct III area | Fixed pickup according to the guide |
| Zonai Charge | On a landing overlooking the boss area | Separate fixed pickup |
| Zonaite Bow | Chest on the east side of the area | Fixed chest item |
| Soldier’s Spear | West side of the area | Fixed weapon pickup or chest content as reported |

Quests and progression
Kuhsagi Lightroot is not presented as a standalone quest hub. Its access is instead embedded in the Lomei labyrinth progression.
The surface and Sky Island sections must be completed before the route to the underground area becomes available through the labyrinth sequence. The underground section then contains the Flux Construct III and the associated armour reward.

Hazards and practical advice
Darkness
The area is part of the Depths, so unlit sections can conceal walls, drops and enemy positions. Activate the Lightroot early and use Brightbloom Seeds when moving away from it.
Vertical navigation
The Lomei Depths Labyrinth is designed around its roof and internal vertical spaces. If a corridor appears to lead nowhere, look above and below before assuming the route is blocked. Ascend is particularly important in this area.
Flux Construct III
Do not enter the arena with weak weapons or without a reliable way to reach the glowing weak block. The Construct’s size and transformations can make close-range attacks dangerous. If you are under-equipped, activate the Lightroot first, then return later using fast travel.
Gloom
The Lightroot’s immediate platform is not itself a special gloom hazard, but deeper exploration of the Depths can expose Link to gloom pools and gloom-inflicting enemies. Carry recovery meals if you intend to explore every branch rather than simply activating the Lightroot.

Suggested exploration routes
Route A: Lightroot first
Best for players who want a reliable return point.
Route B: Full clear
Best for a first completion.

Lore and series context
Kuhsagi Lightroot has no independently documented story scene or named resident. Its main lore function is structural: it shows how the three Lomei labyrinth layers correspond across the surface, sky and Depths. The Lightroot is also positioned beneath Igashuk Shrine, continuing the game’s broad relationship between surface shrines and underground Lightroots.
The location is therefore more significant as part of the Lomei labyrinth sequence than as a standalone settlement or narrative location. Its isolation, the underground maze and the Flux Construct encounter reinforce the sense that the labyrinth is a single multi-layer puzzle spread across Hyrule’s three exploration planes.
