Introduction

Jochisiu Shrine is a hidden Shrine of Light in West Necluda, beside the Squabble River at the southern foot of the Dueling Peaks. Unlike a shrine that can simply be entered from the surface, Jochisiu Shrine is concealed until Link completes the “Keys Born of Water” Shrine Quest. The quest is built around creating ice blocks with a Frost Emitter, reshaping them with heat, and placing them into three stone receptacles.

Once the three ice “keys” are correctly placed, the shrine rises from the ground. Its interior is a Rauru’s Blessing challenge, so there is no combat or puzzle room inside. The real trial is the outdoor quest.

Location and boundaries

Jochisiu Shrine belongs to West Necluda, not East Necluda, the nearby Dueling Peaks subregion, or the river itself. It is positioned on the western side of the southern part of the Dueling Peaks, close to the Squabble River. Nintendo Life places it at approximately 0931, -1897, 0029, while another guide gives 0931, -1902, 0030, reflecting the difference between the shrine entrance, the quest area and map coordinate readings.

The immediate quest area is a small wooded and rocky clearing northeast of Popla Foothills Skyview Tower. The clearing contains the Construct who gives the riddle, the three-slot altar, a nearby riverbank, and Zonai Devices needed for the ice-making process. The wider surroundings include the Squabble River and the southern slopes of Dueling Peaks, but these neighbouring features are navigation references rather than parts of the shrine itself.

Access and recommended route

The simplest approach is from Popla Foothills Skyview Tower. Launch from the tower and glide northeast towards the wooded hills near Squabble River. The quest area is close enough to the tower that the glide is a practical route, although Link may need to climb or walk the final section depending on stamina and landing position.

You can also approach from the Dueling Peaks roads and river valleys. If the shrine has not yet been revealed, look for the unusual stone arrangement and the Zonai Construct beneath the rocky formations. The three diamond-shaped indentations are the clearest sign that you have reached the correct location.

Useful preparation

No special armour, quest item or story progression is required by the shrine itself. It is sensible to have:

The quest devices are already positioned nearby, so you do not need to build a machine from scratch.

Note

“Give keys born of water to the three altars. The sacred shrine will appear.”

“Keys Born of Water” Shrine Quest

When Link speaks to the Zonai Construct, it gives the following clue:

The “keys” are ice blocks produced from water by a Frost Emitter. The three “altars” are the diamond-shaped slots beside the Construct.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Find the Frost Emitter. Examine the devices scattered around the quest area. Activate a Frost Emitter by striking it or otherwise powering it.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Take the emitter to the river. Use Ultrahand to carry the Frost Emitter to the nearby water. Point it downwards so the cold beam strikes the river.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Create several ice blocks. The emitter will form square or rectangular ice plates. Make several rather than relying on one, because the blocks may need to be resized and some attempts can be awkward.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Prepare a heat source. The area provides Flame Emitters and a place where Link can light a fire. A Fire Fruit can also be used to start a campfire, according to the quest walkthrough.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Test an ice block in the altar. Pick up a block with Ultrahand and try placing it into one of the diamond-shaped recesses.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Resize the block if necessary. If the ice is too large or has the wrong shape, hold it over the fire or in front of the Flame Emitter for a short time. It will melt and become smaller. Test it again.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Repeat for all three slots. Adjust the blocks individually. The exact amount of melting needed depends on the original size and the slot you are targeting.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Place the three completed keys. Once all three ice blocks are seated in the altar, the mechanism activates and Jochisiu Shrine appears.

Shrine interior and rewards

Jochisiu Shrine is a Rauru’s Blessing shrine. After the outdoor quest is complete, Link can enter and walk straight to the reward area. There is no conventional shrine puzzle, combat trial or timed challenge inside.

The chest contains a Big Battery, a Zonai Device-related item that increases the amount of energy available to Zonai-powered constructions. Link can then examine the altar to receive a Light of Blessing. Four Lights of Blessing can be exchanged at a Goddess Statue for either a Heart Container or a Stamina Vessel.

Verified rewards

The shrine becomes a fast-travel point once discovered, making it useful for returning to the southern Dueling Peaks and Squabble River area.

Enemies, NPCs and facilities

The shrine’s defining NPC is the Zonai Construct that presents the riddle and starts the puzzle interaction. It is a quest-associated Construct rather than a resident or merchant.

There is no confirmed shop, stable, settlement, inn or permanent service attached to Jochisiu Shrine. The nearby riverbank and wooded clearing are environmental features used by the Shrine Quest. The Frost Emitters and Flame Emitters are quest equipment, not shops or facilities.

Hazards and points of failure

The quest is generally safe, but a few mechanics can cause unnecessary difficulty:

Hazards and points of failure

Hazards and points of failure
NameDetails
Melting the ice too farKeep the block near the edge of the flame and remove it frequently to check its size.
Running out of usable blocksCreate several ice plates before beginning the fitting stage.
Losing the riverbank positionIf the emitter is pointed away from the water, it will not produce the required blocks.
Misidentifying the areaThe shrine is not immediately visible before the quest is completed. Search for the Construct and three-slot altar rather than looking only for a glowing shrine entrance.
Coordinate variationUse the nearby river, southern Dueling Peaks and Popla Foothills Skyview Tower together with the coordinates, since different guides quote slightly different points.

For an efficient visit

  1. 01
Activate or use Popla Foothills Skyview Tower.
  2. 02
Glide northeast towards the wooded hills by Squabble River.
  3. 03
Locate the Zonai Construct and the three-slot altar.
  4. 04
Read the riddle and inspect the nearby devices.
  5. 05
Make several ice blocks at the river.
  6. 06
Resize three blocks over the supplied heat source.
  7. 07
Complete the altar and enter Jochisiu Shrine.
  8. 08
Collect the Big Battery and Light of Blessing.
  9. 09
Use the newly activated shrine as a fast-travel point for further exploration around Dueling Peaks and West Necluda.
