About this guide

Spoiler warning: This guide covers the shrine quest, the Hinox encounter in Satori Mountain Foothill Cave and the shrine’s reward.

Overview

Usazum Shrine is a Shrine of Light in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, found on the southern edge of Satori Mountain in Hyrule Ridge. It stands between Satori Mountain Foothill Cave and Dalite Forest, north-west of Outskirt Stable and west of Manhala Bridge. The shrine is not available immediately. Instead, its entrance begins the Shrine Quest The Satori Mountain Crystal, sending Link into the nearby cave to recover a crystal carried by a Hinox.

Once the crystal is returned, Usazum Shrine becomes a Rauru’s Blessing shrine. There is no internal puzzle. Its chest contains a Strong Zonaite Spear, and completing the shrine awards one Light of Blessing.

Location and boundaries

Usazum Shrine is a small site rather than a broad settlement or explorable region. For this guide, the relevant location consists of:

It does not include all of Satori Mountain, Dalite Forest, Outskirt Stable or the wider Hyrule Ridge area. Those are neighbouring landmarks and travel connections, not subareas of Usazum Shrine itself.

The shrine sits on the southern side of Satori Mountain, near a path leading north-west from the Hyrule Ridge lowlands. The surrounding landscape is open enough for the shrine’s green quest beam to be visible once the entrance is examined. The beam points towards the cave where the crystal is being held.

Nearby but separate locations

The available sources agree that Usazum Shrine corresponds to Muzasu Lightroot in the Depths. This is a map relationship between the surface shrine and an underground Lightroot, not a direct interior passage between the two locations.

Reaching Usazum Shrine

From Outskirt Stable

Outskirt Stable is one of the most useful nearby reference points. Travel north-west from the stable along the roads and open ground towards the southern foot of Satori Mountain. The shrine is located north-west of the stable, near the route leading towards the mountain and the cave.

From Hyrule Field Skyview Tower

A practical approach is to launch from Hyrule Field Skyview Tower and glide west-south-west towards the shrine’s approximate position. This is useful early in the game because the shrine is in open terrain and can be reached without climbing far into Satori Mountain. A route guide also identifies the shrine as being reached from the tower by gliding towards the stable side of the area, then following the road.

You do not need a special item or story mission to begin the shrine quest. However, the cave encounter is a full Hinox battle, so it is sensible to bring:

The sources do not identify a quest-specific minimum number of hearts, stamina vessels or abilities.

The Satori Mountain Crystal

Examining the inactive shrine starts The Satori Mountain Crystal. A mysterious voice instructs Link to follow the light and bring the crystal to the shrine. The green beam leads towards Satori Mountain Foothill Cave.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Examine the Usazum Shrine entrance. The shrine is initially unavailable. Interacting with its entrance starts The Satori Mountain Crystal and produces a green beam.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Follow the beam towards Satori Mountain Foothill Cave. The cave is nearby, at the base of Satori Mountain. Its entrance lies along the path leading into the mountain rather than inside the shrine area itself.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Enter the cave and locate the Hinox. The cave has a broad circular route. A Hinox walks around the cavern, carrying the shrine crystal around its neck.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Defeat the Hinox. Shoot it in the eye to stun it, then use the opening to attack with melee weapons. Repeat the process while avoiding its stomps, swings and thrown objects. The crystal becomes available when the Hinox is defeated.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Pick up the Satori Mountain Crystal. Carry it out of the cave. The green beam provides a visual route back to the shrine.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Return the crystal to Usazum Shrine. Bring it to the shrine entrance and place it at the designated point. The shrine then materialises and becomes accessible.

Walkthrough

  1. 01
Enter the shrine and complete Rauru’s Blessing. Open the chest, then walk to the altar and collect the Light of Blessing.

Hinox encounter

The Hinox is the only required enemy encounter associated with the shrine quest. It patrols the cave’s circular main route while wearing the crystal. The quest cannot be completed by simply finding the cave or touching the crystal. Link must obtain it from the Hinox and return it to the shrine.

Basic strategy

The cave’s layout can help less confident players. One route description notes a smaller side passage around part of the cave that the Hinox cannot easily enter, allowing Link to attack from a safer position. The enemy can still throw rocks, so this is not completely risk-free, but it offers a useful fallback if close combat is proving difficult.

The Hinox also drops its normal battle materials and equipment, but the important quest item is the Satori Mountain Crystal. The crystal is fixed quest content, whereas ordinary Hinox drops should be treated as battle loot rather than shrine rewards.

Basic strategy: The safest general method is

  1. 01
Keep your distance while the Hinox approaches.
  2. 02
Aim for its eye with a bow.
  3. 03
    Attack while it is stunned.
  4. 04
Retreat when it begins to recover.
  5. 05
    Repeat until it falls.

Shrine interior: Rauru’s Blessing

Usazum Shrine has no puzzle or combat trial after it appears. Its trial designation is Rauru’s Blessing, meaning the challenge takes place outside the shrine and the interior serves as the reward chamber.

Rewards

The Strong Zonaite Spear is a fixed chest reward, not a random weapon drop. The Light of Blessing is awarded when the shrine is completed.

Progression and missability

Usazum Shrine is available once Link reaches and examines its entrance. It is not tied to a particular regional phenomenon or main-story completion state in the sources consulted. There is no reported permanently missable step: if the shrine or its quest is left unfinished, Link can return later in the open world. General shrine references also state that shrine completion remains possible after the main story.
