About this guide

Base game guide. Spoilers: This guide reveals the shrine’s location, the Gloom Spawn encounter in Lindor’s Brow Cave, and the shrine reward.

Overview

Taki-ihaban Shrine is a small but memorable Shrine of Light in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It is not a conventional puzzle shrine. The interior is a Rauru’s Blessing chamber, so the real challenge is reaching it through Lindor’s Brow Cave, a deep cave in the Hyrule Ridge area.

The shrine is particularly easy to overlook because its entrance is underground and the visible shrine structure is separated from the initial cave route by a deep chamber. That chamber contains a Gloom Spawn, commonly called Gloom Hands, which can turn an otherwise simple shrine visit into a dangerous early-game encounter. Once Link reaches the shrine, however, completion takes only a few seconds.

This guide treats the shrine and the cave route immediately containing it as the relevant scope. It does not expand the entry to include the whole Hyrule Ridge region, Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower, or every nearby surface landmark.

Location and boundaries

Hyrule Ridge

Taki-ihaban Shrine belongs to the surface-world region generally identified as Hyrule Ridge, although the shrine itself is below ground. It lies south-east of Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower, in the vicinity of the large rocky formation known as Lindor’s Brow.

Some guides categorise the shrine more broadly as Central Hyrule. That is a regional classification difference rather than a separate location. For practical navigation, Hyrule Ridge and Lindor’s Brow are the useful labels.

Lindor’s Brow Cave

The cave is the shrine’s immediate parent location. Its surface opening appears as a hole or drop in the ground near Lindor’s Brow. The shrine occupies a raised ledge deep inside the cave, beyond a large open chamber.

The cave should be treated as more than a simple entrance tunnel. It contains:

The cave is therefore the meaningful exploration area for this shrine, while the surrounding Hyrule Ridge countryside is only the approach zone.

Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower is not part of the shrine interior or cave, but it is the most useful named navigation reference for reaching the area.

Access and recommended routes

Route 1: From Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower

This is the simplest route if the tower has already been activated.

Game8 describes the cave entrance as being close to the tower and gives the entrance as approximately -1729, 1158, 0231.

Route 2: Approach from the east

A second approach reaches the cave through a chute-like opening from the eastern side. This route can be useful if Link is already travelling through the Hyrule Ridge lowlands and does not want to climb back towards the tower.

The approach from the east is described by Gamer Guides as a practical alternative to launching from the Skyview Tower.

Route 1: From Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower

  1. 01
Fast travel to Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower.
  2. 02
Look towards the nearby rocky ground and cliffs south-east of the tower.
  3. 03
Find the cave opening, which appears as a hole or depression in the surface.
  4. 04
    Drop into Lindor’s Brow Cave.
  5. 05
Glide towards the lower pool rather than attempting to fall directly onto the surrounding rock.
  6. 06
Leave the water and follow the cave route towards the large chamber.
  7. 07
Cross towards the raised platform containing the shrine.
  8. 08
Climb quickly before the Gloom Spawn can trap Link.
  9. 09
    Enter Taki-ihaban Shrine.

Route 2: Approach from the east: After dropping through the chute

  1. 01
Glide or dive towards the pool below.
  2. 02
    Turn towards the cave shore.
  3. 03
    Continue downhill through the cave.
  4. 04
Look for the shrine across the chamber.
  5. 05
Cross directly and climb the shrine’s ledge.

The Gloom Spawn chamber

The cave’s principal danger is a Gloom Spawn in the chamber beneath and around the shrine platform. The hands may not be immediately visible when Link first enters. They can appear after Link spends time in the lower part of the chamber.

Easiest method: run for the shrine

For most players, the safest strategy is not to fight.

The Gloom Spawn’s reach is much less troublesome once Link is on the raised shrine platform. Gamer Guides specifically recommends crossing the chamber quickly and climbing rather than lingering on the floor.

If you choose to fight

The Gloom Spawn can be attacked, but the guide evidence confirms its presence rather than establishing a unique reward or special shrine-specific drop. Do not treat defeating it as necessary for shrine completion.

A failed attempt does not prevent returning to the shrine. If the encounter is proving costly, fast travel away, improve Link’s equipment, and return later.

Hazard directory

The exact enemy behaviour and encounter timing can vary depending on how long Link remains in the chamber. The important fixed fact is that the Gloom Spawn is associated with the route to the shrine, not with the shrine’s interior trial.

---

Easiest method: run for the shrine

  1. 01
Prepare stamina-restoring food if your stamina wheel is still small.
  2. 02
Enter the chamber and move directly towards the shrine ledge.
  3. 03
Avoid stopping in the central depression.
  4. 04
    Climb the platform immediately.
  5. 05
Once Link is high enough, enter the shrine.

Taki-ihaban Shrine walkthrough

Shrine interior

Taki-ihaban Shrine is a Rauru’s Blessing shrine. There is no puzzle room, ability requirement, moving platform sequence or shrine combat trial. The challenge has already been completed by reaching the shrine.

Numbered walkthrough

The chest and reward are independently reported by the shrine guides.

Reward table

The Large Zonai Charge is particularly useful for powering Zonai devices for a longer period than an ordinary Zonai Charge. The shrine guide sources identify the item, but do not establish any special one-time condition beyond opening the chest.

Lindor’s Brow Cave exploration directory

The following entries belong to the cave rather than the shrine interior.

Collectibles and resources

Gamer Guides lists these resources for Lindor’s Brow Cave, while Game8 and Zelda Dungeon identify the cave’s Bubbulfrog.

Bubbulfrog

The Bubbulfrog is a separate cave collectible and is not part of the shrine reward. It is found on the cave’s upper surfaces or ceiling route. Defeating it produces a Bubbul Gem, and the cave can then be marked as cleared for Bubbulfrog collection purposes.

If the cave remains unchecked on the map after completing the shrine, return and search the walls and ceiling rather than assuming that the shrine itself counts as full cave completion.

Cave materials

The ordinary resources in the cave make it worth exploring even after the shrine has been completed. Brightbloom Seeds help illuminate the darker sections, while ore deposits and Luminous Stone provide material and rupee value. Sticky Lizards are small wildlife finds rather than a guaranteed reward.

Resource availability may be refreshed by the game’s normal world-reset systems. These are not unique, permanent shrine rewards.
