About this guide
Spoiler warning: This guide reveals the location of Suariwak Shrine, the requirements for The Yiga Clan Exam, the Yiga Blademaster Station and the shrine’s reward.
Overview
Suariwak Shrine is a hidden Shrine of Light in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It is found in the rear section of the Yiga Blademaster Station, in the Gerudo Highlands area near Gerudo Canyon. Unlike most shrines, Suariwak Shrine is not reached by solving an overworld puzzle or finding a hidden entrance. Its access is tied directly to the The Yiga Clan Exam Side Adventure.
The shrine itself is a short Rauru’s Blessing challenge. Once inside, Link simply collects a treasure chest containing a Big Battery and claims a Light of Blessing from the altar. The real challenge is reaching the shrine by infiltrating the Yiga hideout and completing the banana-offering exam.
Location and boundaries
Suariwak Shrine belongs to the Yiga Blademaster Station, a concealed Yiga Clan facility in the Gerudo Highlands. The station is reached by travelling behind a large waterfall near the north-western side of Gerudo Canyon. Its entrance is not visible as a normal shrine entrance, and the shrine does not become accessible until the Yiga exam has been completed.
Some guides describe the shrine as being in Taafei Hill Cave, while others identify the Yiga Blademaster Station as its immediate location. These descriptions refer to the same general underground and concealed approach, but the station is the more useful boundary for gameplay purposes: the shrine is in the station’s rear room, rather than being a free-standing shrine somewhere in the surrounding landscape.
Included named locations
The wider exam route extends beyond the station itself. The five frog statues are spread across the surrounding Gerudo Canyon and highland area, including locations near the Gerudo Canyon Mine and the valleys around the Skyview Tower.
Included named locations
Requirements
The full Yiga set is essential for entering the Yiga Blademaster Station and starting the associated Side Adventure. Mighty Bananas are used as offerings at the frog statues. The quest marks the relevant statues once the exam is active, which is considerably easier than searching for them without the objective selected.
How to reach Suariwak Shrine
1. Travel to the Yiga Blademaster Station
Fast travel to Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower, then travel north towards the waterfall area. Look for the large waterfall and go behind it. The entrance to the station has frog statues outside the door.
Equip the full Yiga armour set and interact with the entrance. This allows Link to enter the station and speak with the Yiga Blademaster.
2. Begin The Yiga Clan Exam
Speak to the Yiga Blademaster and accept the exam. Once the Side Adventure is active, the five frog-statue locations are shown on the map.
The exam requires Link to place a Mighty Banana at each statue. The objectives are spread across the region rather than being contained within the station, so use the quest markers to plan an efficient route.
3. Visit all five frog statues
Offer one Mighty Banana at each marked statue. The route includes statues around the Gerudo Canyon area and the nearby highland terrain. One of the objectives is associated with the Gerudo Canyon Mine, while another is positioned down in a valley near the Skyview Tower area. Some statues are below cliff edges, so gliding or descending carefully may be quicker than following the surface path.
Game8’s walkthrough identifies five separate offerings and confirms that the final step is returning to the Blademaster Station.
4. Enter the rear room
After completing the exam, return to the station and speak to the Yiga Blademaster again. The previously inaccessible rear area becomes available.
Go through the station and enter the back room. Suariwak Shrine is visible beyond the interior opening. Activate its entrance to register the shrine and begin the trial.
3. Visit all five frog statues: A practical approach is
- 01Start with the statues closest to the Yiga Blademaster Station.
- 02Continue towards the Gerudo Canyon Mine.
- 03Use the map markers to locate the remaining statues in the valleys and lower terrain.
- 04Carry extra Mighty Bananas in case one is accidentally consumed or dropped somewhere inconvenient.
- 05Return to the Yiga Blademaster after all five offerings are complete.
Shrine walkthrough
Suariwak Shrine is a Rauru’s Blessing shrine. This means that the challenge is completed before entering the shrine, through the exploration or quest required to reveal it. The interior contains no combat encounter, puzzle mechanism or boss.
Step-by-step
The chest is positioned on the central platform along the shrine’s short path. The altar room is directly ahead, so there is no hidden side chamber or second chest to search for.
Step-by-step
- 01Enter Suariwak Shrine.
- 02Walk forwards to the central platform.
- 03Open the stone treasure chest.
- 04Collect the Big Battery.
- 05Continue to the altar at the far end.
- 06Examine the green shrine terminal.
- 07Collect the Light of Blessing.
Rewards and acquisitions
The Big Battery is a Zonai device capsule item that increases the amount of energy available for Zonai-powered devices when used appropriately. It is a fixed reward rather than a random drop.
The Light of Blessing is the shrine’s completion reward. Four Lights of Blessing can be exchanged at a Goddess Statue for either a Heart Container or a Stamina Vessel.
Rewards and acquisitions
| Reward | How to obtain it | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Big Battery | Open the chest inside Suariwak Shrine | Fixed shrine chest reward |
| Light of Blessing | Complete the shrine altar interaction | Used at Goddess Statues to increase hearts or stamina |
| Fast-travel access | Activate the shrine entrance | Available after the shrine has been registered |
Characters and factions
Yiga Blademaster
The Yiga Blademaster oversees The Yiga Clan Exam and controls access to the hidden rear room of the station. He is the key story-associated character for this shrine.
Yiga Clan
The Yiga Clan occupies the station and provides the context for the exam. The station is a Yiga facility rather than a public settlement, shop or ordinary cave interior.
Named-directory: characters and factions
No ordinary civilian residents, travelling merchants, public services or law-enforcement facilities are associated with the shrine interior. The station is a faction-controlled hideout, and the relevant interactions are tied to the exam and shrine access.
Hazards and useful preparation
There are no combat hazards within Suariwak Shrine itself. The Yiga station and the surrounding route may contain faction-related dangers depending on the player’s approach, but the shrine chamber is a safe reward area.
The main hazards occur outside the shrine
| Name | Details |
|---|---|
| Cold weather | The Gerudo Highlands can require cold resistance. |
| Temperature changes | Routes between the highlands and Gerudo Canyon may require different environmental protection. |
| Cliffs and valleys | Several frog statues are positioned away from the most convenient walking level. |
| Quest navigation | The statues are much easier to find with The Yiga Clan Exam active. |
| Resource management | Bring at least five Mighty Bananas before starting the route. |
