About this guide
Base game guide. Minor spoilers for the Depths, Lightroot exploration and nearby mine locations.
Overview
Mimufis Lightroot is a Lightroot in the East Necluda Depths, positioned beneath the surface area around Sifumim Shrine and close to the Abandoned Lurelin Mine. It is a compact but useful navigation point rather than a large settlement or dungeon. Activating it illuminates the surrounding Depths, clears the local darkness and adds a fast-travel destination.
The Lightroot itself has no resident, shop, quest giver or dedicated dungeon challenge. Its importance comes from its position. Mimufis Lightroot provides a convenient launch point for travelling between the Abandoned Lurelin Mine, the wider East Necluda Depths and several enemy camps in the surrounding underground region.
Location and boundaries
Mimufis Lightroot should be treated as a point location, not as the name of a broad underground district. The surrounding area belongs to the East Necluda Depths, a wider regional grouping that includes several mines, groves, chasms and other Lightroots. The regional category lists Mimufis Lightroot alongside locations such as the Abandoned Lurelin Mine, Dunsel Canyon Mine, Floria Canyon Mine, Ginner Grove, Midla Grove, Retsam Grove and other East Necluda Depths locations.
That distinction matters when planning an expedition. The Lightroot does not include the Abandoned Lurelin Mine as an internal subarea, and the mine should not be described as part of Mimufis Lightroot itself. It is a separate nearby location, reached through the surrounding Depths.

Coordinates and map position
The commonly recorded coordinates for Mimufis Lightroot are approximately:
2825, -3269, -0547
Some map and guide references give slightly different vertical values, including around -0526 or -0547. The horizontal position is consistent, while the discrepancy appears to come from different map references or recording conventions. For practical play, use 2825, -3269 as the most useful map position and look for the Lightroot in the underground space north-west of the Abandoned Lurelin Mine.
The Lightroot itself
Like other Lightroots, Mimufis Lightroot is a large luminous root structure in the Depths. Approaching its base allows Link to activate it. Once activated, it:
The Lightroot does not function as a shrine. It has no shrine trial, treasure chest or separate blessing reward recorded as part of its activation. Its reward is access, visibility and improved survivability in the surrounding Depths. Lightroots are also one of the main ways to make long-distance underground travel manageable, alongside Brightbloom Seeds, vehicles and chasm entrances.
The Lightroot itself: steps
- 01Illuminates the local underground area.
- 02Reveals the corresponding section of the Depths map.
- 03Becomes available as a fast-travel destination.
- 04Restores hearts affected by Gloom while Link is within the Lightroot’s healing radius.
Surface counterpart: Sifumim Shrine
Mimufis Lightroot corresponds to Sifumim Shrine on the surface. The relationship follows the naming pattern used throughout Tears of the Kingdom, where many Lightroot names are the reversed names of their surface shrines. “Mimufis” reversed becomes “Sifumim”.
Sifumim Shrine is in East Necluda, near Lurelin Village. Its shrine challenge is Proving Grounds: Flow, a combat trial in which Link must use equipment and environmental tools supplied within the shrine. The shrine and Lightroot are separate locations in separate layers. Completing Sifumim Shrine does not activate Mimufis Lightroot automatically, and activating Mimufis Lightroot does not complete the shrine.
Keep these places separate
| Place | Layer | Relationship |
|---|---|---|
| Mimufis Lightroot | Depths | Underground Lightroot and fast-travel point |
| Sifumim Shrine | Surface | Corresponding shrine |
| Abandoned Lurelin Mine | Depths | Nearby but separate mine |
| Lurelin Village | Surface | Nearby surface settlement, not part of Mimufis Lightroot |
Access and routes
Reaching Mimufis from the surface
The most practical approach is usually to enter the Depths through a nearby East Necluda chasm, then travel underground towards the Lightroot. The route depends on which chasms have already been discovered and whether the surrounding map is illuminated.
The Depths map is dangerous when unexplored. Bring a reliable supply of Brightbloom Seeds, ideally with arrows for throwing or firing them, and consider carrying meals that restore Gloom-damaged hearts. A vehicle can shorten the journey, but it is not required.
Recommended route from the Abandoned Lurelin Mine
The Abandoned Lurelin Mine is the most useful nearby landmark. Guides place Mimufis Lightroot to the north-west of the mine, while another route reference records the mine as north-east of the Lightroot. These descriptions are consistent with one another when read from the two different starting points.
From the mine, reverse the route and travel north-west to return to Mimufis Lightroot.
Route from a discovered chasm
If Mimufis is not yet visible on the map:
Recommended route from the Abandoned Lurelin Mine: From Mimufis Lightroot
- 01Activate the Lightroot before leaving.
- 02Face towards the south-western side of the illuminated area.
- 03Follow the open underground route towards the Abandoned Lurelin Mine.
- 04Watch for cliffs, gloom pools and enemy patrols around the mine.
- 05Use the mine as a staging point for exploring nearby caverns and locating its Forge Construct.
Route from a discovered chasm
- 01Enter the Depths through an East Necluda chasm.
- 02Mark the approximate horizontal position 2825, -3269 on the map.
- 03Fire Brightbloom Seeds into the darkness while travelling.
- 04Avoid unnecessary fights until the Lightroot is visible.
- 05Activate Mimufis as soon as possible.
- 06Use it as a permanent return point before exploring the mine and nearby enemy camps.
Nearby connections
Abandoned Lurelin Mine
The Abandoned Lurelin Mine is the most important nearby connection. It is a separate named mine in the East Necluda Depths and is located south-west of Mimufis Lightroot. The mine contains a Forge Construct, making it useful for acquiring Zonaite-related crystallised charges and other services associated with Forge Construct locations.
The mine is not a subarea of Mimufis Lightroot. It is better understood as the next destination in a local exploration route:
Mimufis Lightroot → Abandoned Lurelin Mine → surrounding East Necluda Depths
Sifumim Shrine
Sifumim Shrine is the surface counterpart directly above the Lightroot. The two locations are useful together when planning map exploration. If you find Sifumim Shrine on the surface but have not activated Mimufis below it, check the corresponding underground position. Conversely, an activated Mimufis Lightroot identifies the approximate surface location of Sifumim Shrine.
East Necluda Depths
Mimufis is part of the wider East Necluda underground network. Other named places in that regional category include:

Enemies and hazards
Mimufis Lightroot itself is not documented as having a unique enemy encounter or boss arena. The surrounding Depths, however, contain normal enemy patrols and camps. One documented camp lies to the south-east of Tuft Canyon Mine and can be reached by travelling south from Mimufis Lightroot. It contains Silver Lizalfos, Blue Lizalfos and Black Bokoblins.
Because the exact placement of ordinary patrols can be easy to miss in darkness, treat the space between Mimufis and nearby mines as an active exploration zone rather than a safe road.
Main hazards
The Lightroot’s healing effect makes it a useful recovery point, but it does not make the surrounding area permanently safe. Gloom damage is best managed by combining Lightroot healing, Gloom-resistant meals or armour, and careful route planning.
Items and collectibles
No unique item, treasure chest or one-time collectible is specifically documented as belonging to the Mimufis Lightroot structure itself. The most reliable fixed reward is the Lightroot’s map and fast-travel function.
Nearby mines and enemy camps can provide the usual Depths rewards, including enemy parts, Zonaite and materials, but these should not be presented as guaranteed Mimufis Lightroot contents. Their availability depends on the separate location being explored and, for some enemy drops, the enemy type and game progression.
Verified local acquisition points
| Location | What it offers | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Mimufis Lightroot | Map illumination, fast travel and local Gloom recovery | Fixed |
| Abandoned Lurelin Mine | Forge Construct-related services and mine resources | Separate nearby location |
| Enemy camps south-east of the local mine network | Enemy parts and combat drops | Encounter-dependent |
Missions and progression
There is no verified quest that begins at Mimufis Lightroot, and no progression lock is required to activate it beyond reaching the structure in the Depths.
It can be activated at any stage after Link gains access to the Depths. Early in the game, the main practical requirement is preparation rather than story progression:
The Abandoned Lurelin Mine has its own significance as a separate mine location, but it should not be folded into Mimufis Lightroot’s mission list.
Suggested exploration route
For an efficient first visit, use this order:
Suggested exploration route: steps
- 01Enter the East Necluda Depths through a nearby chasm.
- 02Travel towards 2825, -3269 while lighting the route.
- 03Activate Mimufis Lightroot.
- 04Heal any Gloom damage within its radius.
- 05Mark the newly revealed map edges and nearby mine location.
- 06Travel south-west to the Abandoned Lurelin Mine.
- 07Investigate the mine and its Forge Construct.
- 08Return to Mimufis Lightroot to fast-travel out or continue towards other East Necluda Depths locations.
- 09If you have found Sifumim Shrine on the surface, use the matching map position to confirm the Lightroot relationship.

Lore and trivia
The most notable piece of location design is the connection between Mimufis Lightroot and Sifumim Shrine. Their reversed names are part of Tears of the Kingdom’s broader surface-and-Depths correspondence system. The relationship is practical as well as thematic: shrine locations can help players predict Lightroot positions, while Lightroots can help identify unexplored shrine locations on the surface.
Mimufis is also a good example of how the game’s location hierarchy works. The Lightroot is a small functional landmark, but it sits inside the much larger East Necluda Depths network. The nearby Abandoned Lurelin Mine is important enough to deserve its own route and directory entry, yet it remains a separate location rather than an internal part of Mimufis.
