About this guide
Game: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Scope: Base game Location: South Hyrule Sky Archipelago, Central Hyrule Sky Trial: Rauru’s Blessing Related Shrine Quest: The South Hyrule Sky Crystal Reward: Light of Blessing Treasure: Diamond Coordinates: Approximately −1257, −1488, 1008. Overview
Jinodok Shrine is a small sky shrine in the South Hyrule Sky Archipelago, west of the Great Sky Island and above the Great Plateau area. Its interior is not a conventional combat or puzzle trial. Instead, reaching and activating the shrine is the main challenge.
The shrine initially appears without its crystal. Examining it starts The South Hyrule Sky Crystal, a Shrine Quest that takes place across several nearby floating islands. Link must use a rotating island mechanism to create a route to the crystal, collect it and carry it back to Jinodok Shrine. Once the crystal is returned, the shrine becomes a straightforward Rauru’s Blessing trial containing a Diamond and a Light of Blessing.
Location and boundaries
Jinodok Shrine sits on one of the islands in the South Hyrule Sky Archipelago. The relevant area for this guide includes the shrine island, the nearby floating island controlled by the rotating mechanism, the island holding the shrine crystal and the nearby suspended chest encountered while manipulating the mechanism.
This guide does not treat the entire Central Hyrule Sky as part of Jinodok Shrine’s local area. Other sky islands, Great Sky Island and distant shrines are neighbouring locations rather than subareas of Jinodok Shrine.
Named and described locations within the immediate scope
The rotating island and crystal island are functional parts of the Shrine Quest, but the available sources do not establish separate canonical names for them. They are therefore described by function rather than given invented names.

Reaching Jinodok Shrine
Jinodok Shrine is easiest to approach from the sky. Several guides recommend using the Hyrule Field Skyview Tower to launch and glide towards the South Hyrule Sky Archipelago. Another route is to travel from the Great Sky Island area, with In-Isa Shrine identified as a useful fast-travel point by one guide.
Because the shrine is suspended over the surface, the practical requirements depend on the route and Link’s equipment:
The shrine can be activated when Link reaches it, but the shrine itself cannot be completed until its crystal has been returned.
Suggested approach
The precise flight path depends on Link’s stamina, available Zonai Devices and the direction from which the archipelago is approached. The important landmark is the shrine’s green entrance and the nearby rotating mechanism.
Suggested approach
- 01Launch from the Hyrule Field Skyview Tower, or approach from the Great Sky Island region.
- 02Glide towards the South Hyrule Sky Archipelago.
- 03Land on the island containing Jinodok Shrine.
- 04Activate the shrine entrance.
- 05Begin The South Hyrule Sky Crystal.
The South Hyrule Sky Crystal
Starting the quest
Interact with Jinodok Shrine before attempting to solve the surrounding mechanism. The shrine will produce a green beam leading towards the missing crystal and register The South Hyrule Sky Crystal in the Adventure Log.
Optional suspended chest
A chest hangs near the rotating structure. Guides report that it contains an Old Map. The chest may be difficult to reach until the rotating island is moved into a useful position. One guide notes that roots around the chest can be cut with a sword, after which the chest can be opened.
The Old Map is separate from the Diamond chest inside Jinodok Shrine.
Walkthrough
- 01Activate Jinodok Shrine. Examine the shrine entrance to start the Shrine Quest.
Walkthrough
- 01Follow the green beam. The beam points towards the crystal on a nearby island. It also directs attention to the rotating stone structure near the shrine.
Walkthrough
- 01Find the rotating mechanism. Use Ultrahand on the control apparatus. Moving it rotates the connected stone island in the gap.
Walkthrough
- 01Align the island with the route. Rotate the structure until one of its walkable sections connects your current island to the crystal island. The useful alignment forms a continuous path across the gap.
Walkthrough
- 01Cross to the crystal. Walk across the repositioned stone structure and reach the island marked by the green beam.
Walkthrough
- 01Pick up the crystal. Lift the shrine crystal and carry it back along the same route. If the alignment makes the return difficult, use Ultrahand to adjust the rotating structure again.
Walkthrough
- 01Return the crystal to Jinodok Shrine. Bring it to the shrine entrance. The crystal will activate Jinodok Shrine and reveal its entrance.
Shrine interior: Rauru’s Blessing
Once the crystal has been returned, enter Jinodok Shrine. The interior is a short, empty passage with a central stone chest and an altar at the far end. There is no combat encounter, motion puzzle or ability test inside the shrine. The surrounding sky-island route is effectively the shrine’s main challenge.
Shrine inventory
The Diamond and Light of Blessing are fixed rewards. The suspended Old Map is an exterior reward associated with the nearby mechanism rather than the shrine’s internal chest.
Interior walkthrough
- 01Enter the activated shrine.
- 02Walk forward along the central path.
- 03Open the stone chest to obtain a Diamond.
- 04Continue to the altar.
- 05Examine the altar to receive a Light of Blessing.
Shrine inventory
| Object | Contents or result | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Stone chest | Diamond | Central section of the shrine interior |
| Rauru and Sonia altar | Light of Blessing | At the end of the interior path |
| Suspended exterior chest | Old Map | Near the rotating island, outside the shrine |
Navigation and puzzle advice
Use the mechanism rather than trying to bridge the gap
The gap between the shrine island and the crystal island is intended to be solved with the rotating structure. It is possible to experiment with Zonai Devices or other improvised movement methods, but the documented solution is to rotate the stone structure with Ultrahand until it creates a walkable route.
Watch the alignment from above
The correct orientation is easier to judge from a high point on the shrine island. Rotate the structure in small movements and check whether both ends meet the islands. A partial connection can leave a gap that appears traversable but is too wide to cross safely.
Carry the crystal before making unnecessary adjustments
After collecting the crystal, return it along the route you used to reach it. If you rotate the structure while holding the crystal, Link may be forced to drop it or lose the most convenient path. The safest method is to establish a usable alignment first, cross over, collect the crystal and return without changing the mechanism unless necessary.
Bring an emergency movement option
A Wing, rocket, fan or other Zonai Device can help recover from a missed landing. It is not required for the documented solution, but the islands are small and falling into the sky can make the approach inconvenient.
Progression and missability
Jinodok Shrine is available as part of the base-game shrine network and is not tied to a main-story completion state in the sources consulted. Its crystal quest can be completed when Link reaches the area and can interact with the shrine and nearby mechanism.
The shrine’s rewards are not permanently missable in the normal sense. The Diamond remains in the shrine until collected, and the Light of Blessing is awarded when the altar is examined. The exterior suspended chest is optional and is separate from shrine completion.
The main practical failure state is falling from the sky islands. This does not permanently lock the quest, but it may require returning to the archipelago or using fast travel after the shrine has been activated.
Lore and presentation
Jinodok Shrine follows the standard presentation of a Shrine of Light in Tears of the Kingdom. Its internal altar contains the familiar Rauru and Sonia imagery, and completing it awards a Light of Blessing that contributes to Link’s heart or stamina upgrades.
The shrine’s design is notable because its challenge is placed almost entirely outside the shrine. This is typical of Rauru’s Blessing shrines: the shrine entrance, a quest, a sky-island route or an environmental puzzle provides the real test, while the interior serves as the reward chamber.
