Key takeaways
- Jadukakar Lightroot is in the Gerudo Highlands Depths, at approximately (-2037, -1852, -0525).
- It corresponds to Rakakudaj Shrine on the Surface, not to a mine or another Depths landmark.
- The Lightroot stands in a wall alcove above the main Depths floor, so climbing or using an aerial vehicle is usually easier than approaching directly from below.
- A Monster Camp lies nearby to the north-west, on the lower ground.
- A nearby Zonai Device cache contains materials useful for reaching elevated terrain.
- Activating the Lightroot provides map data, a fast-travel point, a strong local light source and relief from gloom damage within its illuminated area.
Note
Base-game guide. This article covers Jadukakar Lightroot itself and its immediate surroundings, not the whole Gerudo Highlands Depths region. Nearby Lightroots, mines and surface locations are treated as connections rather than included subareas.
Overview
Jadukakar Lightroot is a Lightroot in the Gerudo Highlands Depths in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It is positioned in an elevated alcove rather than on the broad floor of the Depths, which makes it easy to overlook when travelling through the surrounding underground region. Activating it reveals part of the Depths map, creates a permanent Travel Point and illuminates the nearby gloom.
Its Surface counterpart is Rakakudaj Shrine, located in Gerudo Canyon. As with other Shrine–Lightroot pairings, the Lightroot’s name is the reversed form of the Shrine’s name.
Location and boundaries
Jadukakar Lightroot belongs to the Gerudo Highlands Depths. It should not be treated as a general guide to the entire region, which also contains other Lightroots, mines, chasms and major underground landmarks.
The Lightroot itself occupies a small elevated nook built into a cavern wall. Its immediate area consists of:

The Monster Camp and Zonai Device cache are descriptive map-guide labels rather than clearly established in-game proper names. They are included here as nearby points of interest, not as formally named settlements or facilities.

How to reach Jadukakar Lightroot
From the Depths
The most direct approach is to enter the Gerudo Highlands Depths and travel towards the Lightroot’s horizontal coordinates. The main difficulty is vertical: Jadukakar Lightroot is not sitting on the lowest cavern floor. It is embedded in a wall alcove some distance above it.
Because the surrounding Depths may remain dark until several nearby Lightroots are activated, Brightbloom Seeds are useful during the approach. A paraglider, stamina-restoring food and a few building materials also make the climb safer.
From another Lightroot
Kimakarut Lightroot is a useful nearby reference point. It is visible from Jadukakar Lightroot, and players have reported using Kimakarut as a launch point for a flying machine when the direct climb is awkward. This is a player-tested convenience rather than a required route.
From the Surface
Jadukakar Lightroot cannot normally be reached by simply dropping through the Surface Shrine. Its counterpart, Rakakudaj Shrine, is a separate Surface location with its own Shrine Quest and entrance conditions.
The Surface–Depths correspondence is nevertheless valuable for navigation: locating Rakakudaj Shrine on the Surface gives you the correct general position for Jadukakar Lightroot below it. Lightroots are generally found beneath Shrines, although the exact vertical relationship can vary with the terrain.
From the Depths: A practical route is
- 01Enter through a suitable Gerudo-region chasm.
- 02Activate any nearby Lightroots first, so that the surrounding terrain is visible.
- 03Travel towards (-2037, -1852).
- 04Look for the Lightroot’s glow on an elevated cavern wall rather than only searching along the floor.
- 05Use Ascend where the ceiling permits, climb the nearby rock face, or construct an aerial vehicle.
- 06Approach the Lightroot platform and activate it.
What activating the Lightroot does
Activating Jadukakar Lightroot provides the standard Lightroot benefits:
The Lightroot does not function as a shop, bed, cooking station or general-purpose settlement. Its importance is navigational and exploratory.
Checklist
Before leaving the area, check that you have:
Nearby connections
Jadukakar Lightroot is part of a network of Gerudo-region Depths locations rather than an isolated dungeon-like area.
Kimakarut Lightroot
Kimakarut Lightroot is another Lightroot in the Gerudo Highlands Depths. It is visible from Jadukakar Lightroot and can serve as a useful navigation reference or launch point for a flying machine. It is a separate location and is not part of Jadukakar Lightroot’s immediate subarea.
Abandoned Kara Kara Mine
The Abandoned Kara Kara Mine is visible from the Jadukakar area at a distance. It is a separate major Depths landmark and should not be counted as part of the Lightroot’s location. The mine has its own exploration content and does not become accessible merely by activating Jadukakar Lightroot.
Nabooru Canyon Mine
Some regional guides place Jadukakar Lightroot near or north-west of Nabooru Canyon Mine. The mine is a distinct location in the Gerudo Highlands Depths, not a child area of the Lightroot. It can be used as a regional navigation point when planning a wider Gerudo underground route.
Surface counterpart: Rakakudaj Shrine
Rakakudaj Shrine is located in Gerudo Canyon on the Surface. It is a Shrine of Light with the trial designation Rauru’s Blessing. The Shrine initially has no usable entrance; completing The Gerudo Canyon Crystal Shrine Quest causes the entrance to appear. The Shrine contains a Mighty Zonaite Longsword and awards a Light of Blessing.
This Shrine belongs to the Surface game space and should be kept separate from the Lightroot’s Depths content.
Nearby encounters and resources
Monster Camp
A Monster Camp lies close to the north-west of the Lightroot, on the lower cavern floor. It is separate from the Lightroot platform and may be easier to deal with after activating the Lightroot, since the resulting illumination improves visibility.
The exact monster composition can depend on the player’s progression and the game’s scaling systems. For that reason, this guide does not assign a fixed enemy list without stronger location-specific evidence.
Zonai Device cache
A nearby cache contains construction materials reported as including:
The cache is particularly useful because the Lightroot is elevated. A Balloon-and-Flame construction, or a Wing fitted with Fans, can help Link reach the alcove without spending large amounts of stamina climbing.
The cache should be treated as a fixed environmental resource rather than a shop or replenishing service. The available devices are construction materials for the player to use, not a staffed facility.
Suggested exploration route
For a first visit, the following order is efficient:
Suggested exploration route: steps
- 01Approach from a nearby activated Lightroot. This reduces the risk of losing the Lightroot’s position in the dark.
- 02Search vertically. Look along the cavern wall and upper ledges rather than following only the main floor.
- 03Activate Jadukakar Lightroot. This reveals the surrounding map and establishes the fast-travel point.
- 04Inspect the alcove. Check behind and around the Lightroot platform for accessible ledges and loose resources.
- 05Travel north-west to the Monster Camp. Use the new illumination to assess the camp before engaging.
- 06Collect the Zonai devices. Keep at least one Fan, Balloon or Wing available if you intend to explore more elevated terrain.
- 07Survey the horizon. Note Kimakarut Lightroot and the direction of the Abandoned Kara Kara Mine.
- 08Return by fast travel if necessary. There is no need to make the climb again once Jadukakar has been activated.
Hazards and secrets
The principal hazards are environmental rather than unique to the Lightroot:
No unique boss, named NPC, shop, quest or dungeon entrance has been verified as belonging to Jadukakar Lightroot itself. The major associated progression content is on the Surface at Rakakudaj Shrine, where the Shrine Quest provides access to the Shrine entrance.
Hazards and secrets
| Name | Details |
|---|---|
| Gloom | nearby Depths terrain can damage and temporarily reduce Link’s maximum hearts. |
| Darkness | before activation, the Lightroot’s surroundings may be difficult to read. |
| Vertical terrain | the alcove’s elevation makes a direct approach inefficient. |
| Hostile camp | enemies occupy the lower ground nearby. |
| Construction risk | poorly balanced flying machines can drift into walls or expire before reaching the alcove. |
Lore and naming
Jadukakar Lightroot’s name is linked to Rakakudaj Shrine through the naming pattern used throughout the Depths. The Lightroot name is effectively the Shrine name reversed, a convention that helps players identify Surface–Depths correspondences.
The pairing also demonstrates an important exploration principle in Tears of the Kingdom: a Shrine can be a useful positional clue for finding its underground counterpart, even when the Lightroot itself is separated from the main Depths floor by cliffs, walls or unusual vertical terrain.
