Note
Base-game guide. This page covers Rakashog Shrine itself, its internal rooms, its entrance island and the immediately relevant approach through the East Gerudo Sky Archipelago. It does not treat the whole Gerudo Highlands Sky, Gerudo Canyon Pass or the other islands in the archipelago as part of the shrine. Those are neighbouring locations with their own collectibles, enemies and facilities.
Overview
Rakashog Shrine is a Shrine of Light in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Its trial is called A Reflective Device, and the shrine is built around one central idea: redirecting beams of light with Zonai Mirrors to activate light-sensitive switches. It is located on the eastern side of the East Gerudo Sky Archipelago, in the sky above the Gerudo Canyon area. The shrine’s commonly listed coordinates are approximately −1713, −2120, 1149, although map readings can vary slightly depending on the precise point used.
The shrine is a compact but layered puzzle location. It contains several connected rooms rather than an exterior shrine quest, and it includes two Soldier Constructs, one optional chest and a final Light of Blessing. The chest contains a Large Zonai Charge.
Location and boundaries
Rakashog Shrine stands on the eastern mass of the East Gerudo Sky Archipelago. The wider archipelago contains multiple islands, Zonai devices, enemies and other points of interest, but those should not be confused with the shrine itself. The archipelago is divided into connected sky-island masses, with Rakashog Shrine located on the eastern one.
The following are neighbouring locations rather than subareas of Rakashog Shrine:
The East Gerudo Sky Archipelago contains additional Zonai equipment and other encounters, but those entries belong to the archipelago directory, not the Rakashog Shrine directory.
For practical purposes, the shrine’s scope is
- 01The shrine entrance on its sky island.
- 02The interior rooms making up the A Reflective Device trial.
- 03The shrine’s chest, enemies and altar.
Reaching Rakashog Shrine
From Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower
The most straightforward route is to launch from Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower and glide south-east towards the East Gerudo Sky Archipelago. The shrine is in the sky above the Gerudo Canyon area, so launch height, stamina and any available aerial transport make the approach easier.
If the glide looks marginal, use stamina-restoring food or elixirs. You can also use a wing, fan-powered vehicle or other Zonai construction if you have the necessary devices and battery capacity.
From the archipelago itself
If you have already reached another island in the East Gerudo Sky Archipelago, Rakashog Shrine can serve as a useful landing and fast-travel point. The islands are separated by open air, so the exact route depends on which mass you are approaching from. The shrine’s eastern island is distinct from the archipelago’s western device-focused island.
Access requirements
There is no reported quest gate, key, regional phenomenon requirement or story-state restriction for entering Rakashog Shrine. The practical requirement is simply reaching the sky island. You need enough altitude and mobility to cross the distance from the surface or a neighbouring island.
From Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower: A practical route is
- 01Activate Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower if you have not already done so.
- 02Launch and turn towards the East Gerudo Sky Archipelago.
- 03Glide towards the eastern island mass.
- 04Land near the shrine entrance.
- 05Activate the shrine before beginning the interior trial, creating a fast-travel point.
Shrine directory
Interior areas
The shrine is organised as a sequence of connected puzzle rooms rather than named subareas with separate map labels.
Rewards and collectibles
The two Soldier Constructs are listed as carrying or using different equipment, including a Mirror Club, a Zonaite Shield and a Spiked-Iron-Ball Sledge, depending on the encounter. These are enemy equipment details rather than guaranteed shrine rewards.
About this guide
Major puzzle spoilers below.
Shrine walkthrough
Rakashog Shrine is easier if you treat each activated switch as part of a continuous light path. Before moving a mirror, check which beam it is currently supplying. Some later targets depend on preserving the beam from an earlier room.
1. Open the first gate
The first room contains a light beam, a mirror and a glowing light-sensitive switch above the gate.
The important point is that the mirror does not need to be attached permanently. Holding it with Ultrahand is enough, provided the beam remains correctly aligned.
2. Send the light through the second room
The next area contains another mirror and a barred section. You need to get the mirror into the next part of the room without losing access to it.
This is the first point at which the shrine tests the difference between merely carrying a mirror and using it as part of a stable chain. If the switch will not activate, adjust the mirror in small increments rather than rotating it rapidly.
3. Activate the lift
The third room has a lower floor, two ramps and a light-sensitive target set into the floor. A second mirror is available in the room.
The moving mechanism functions as a lift. It is not necessary to build a separate vehicle or use Ascend, although alternate ability-based solutions may be possible if your positioning allows them.
4. Open the optional chest room
The upper level contains another mirror and a separate light-sensitive switch controlling a small barred chamber. The chest is optional, but it contains the shrine’s only treasure.
The chest is located on the upper level of the third main room. It is not on the direct route to the final altar, so it is possible to finish the shrine without opening it if you do not inspect the side target.
5. Deal with the Soldier Constructs
Proceed into the following room, where two Soldier Construct I enemies guard the area.
The enemies are ordinary shrine encounters rather than a boss fight. There is no named mini-boss or special combat trial in Rakashog Shrine.
6. Open the final gate
The final puzzle requires the light to be bounced around a divider and onto the last glowing switch.
The final solution is effectively a two-mirror chain. If the last switch does not activate, the first mirror is usually angled too far away from the second beam, or the second mirror is not sitting directly in the reflected light.
1. Open the first gate
- 01Pick up the nearby Zonai Mirror with Ultrahand.
- 02Place or hold it in the light beam.
- 03Rotate it until the reflected light strikes the glowing switch.
- 04Wait for the switch to activate.
- 05Pass through the opened portcullis.
2. Send the light through the second room
- 01Move the mirror through the opening in the barrier.
- 02Position it so that it catches the incoming light beam.
- 03Turn it towards the light-sensitive switch on the wall.
- 04Activate the switch.
- 05Go through the newly opened gate.
3. Activate the lift
- 01Direct the incoming beam towards the mirror in the third room.
- 02Use that mirror to aim the light at the glowing target between the ramps.
- 03Once the target activates, the floor mechanism rises and drops in a repeating motion.
- 04Step onto the moving platform.
- 05Ride it to the upper level.
4. Open the optional chest room
- 01Use the mirror on the upper level to redirect light towards the switch above the barred chest room.
- 02Align the beam carefully. The target is higher than the previous floor switch.
- 03When the switch lights, the portcullis opens.
- 04Enter the small chamber.
- 05Open the stone chest to receive a Large Zonai Charge.
5. Deal with the Soldier Constructs
- 01Defeat both Constructs before spending too much time adjusting the mirrors.
- 02Watch for their melee attacks and knockback.
- 03Collect any useful dropped equipment if you want it.
- 04Check the room for the available mirrors and the light beam.
6. Open the final gate
- 01Place a mirror in the available light beam.
- 02Aim it past the short divider towards the next mirror.
- 03Position the second mirror in the reflected beam.
- 04Rotate the second mirror until its light strikes the final wall-mounted switch.
- 05Wait for the portcullis to open.
- 06Enter the altar chamber.
- 07Examine the terminal in front of the Rauru and Sonia Statue.
- 08Collect the Light of Blessing.
Inventory and reward table
The Large Zonai Charge is a fixed chest reward, not a random drop. The Light of Blessing is also fixed and is awarded once for completing the shrine.
Inventory and reward table
| Location | Item or reward | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Upper level of the third room | Large Zonai Charge | Optional chest | Open the barred side chamber by activating the upper light-sensitive switch |
| Final altar chamber | Light of Blessing | Main completion reward | Awarded after activating the shrine terminal |
Enemies and equipment
Rakashog Shrine contains two Soldier Construct I enemies. They are placed in the later section of the shrine, after the lift puzzle and before the final mirror sequence.
The shrine is not a Proving Grounds challenge. Link retains his equipment and abilities, and there is no forced equipment removal. The Constructs can therefore be handled with normal weapons, arrows, fused weapons or environmental positioning.
These entries describe the equipment associated with the encounters, not an assurance that every item will be a separate chest reward.
Listed encounter equipment includes
| Enemy | Reported equipment |
|---|---|
| Soldier Construct I | Mirror Club and Zonaite Shield |
| Soldier Construct I | Spiked-Iron-Ball Sledge |
Mechanics and useful techniques
Mirrors and light
The shrine’s mirrors are Zonai devices designed to reflect light. Their position and angle matter more than whether they are attached to another object. Ultrahand is normally the safest way to hold and rotate them.
Use the following method when solving a difficult alignment:
Preserving the beam path
Several rooms are linked conceptually by the same light-routing problem. A mirror that looks unnecessary may be maintaining the beam needed in the next room. Do not immediately pick up every earlier mirror after opening a gate.
Alternative abilities
The intended solution uses mirrors and Ultrahand. However, Tears of the Kingdom allows creative interaction with shrine geometry. Ascend, Recall and other abilities may help with positioning in some situations, but they are not required by the standard solution. Avoid relying on an improvised shortcut if it causes you to lose access to a mirror or leaves a later switch unpowered.
Mirrors and light
- 01Place the mirror close to the light source.
- 02Rotate it slowly until the reflected beam is visible.
- 03Follow the beam visually to the target.
- 04Make small adjustments rather than large rotations.
- 05Release Ultrahand only after the switch has activated or the beam is clearly stable.
Suggested exploration route
This route keeps the shrine’s fixed rewards separate from the archipelago’s wider exploration content. The archipelago includes other islands, devices and encounters, including a Device Dispenser away from the shrine.
For a first visit
- 01Launch from Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower.
- 02Land at Rakashog Shrine and activate it.
- 03Complete the first two light switches.
- 04Activate the lift.
- 05Stop on the upper level and open the optional chest.
- 06Defeat the two Soldier Constructs.
- 07Use the mirrors to open the final altar chamber.
- 08Collect the Light of Blessing.
- 09Fast-travel back to the shrine if you want to explore the adjacent East Gerudo Sky Archipelago separately.
Lore and series context
Rakashog Shrine belongs to the Shrine of Light network introduced in Tears of the Kingdom. Its final chamber contains a Rauru and Sonia Statue, and completion grants a Light of Blessing. The shrine’s design reflects the game’s wider emphasis on Zonai technology, light-based mechanisms and player-controlled physical devices.
The name and trial title are closely related to the shrine’s function. A Reflective Device is a direct description of the mirrors and light beams that control every gate in the interior.
There is no verified appearance of Rakashog Shrine in another game continuity. It is identified as a Tears of the Kingdom location.
