Key takeaways

  • Kuzimoy Lightroot is in the Lanayru Great Spring Depths.
  • Its surface counterpart is Yomizuk Shrine, whose name is the reverse-letter counterpart of “Kuzimoy”.
  • The Lightroot is positioned at approximately 4413, -0612, -0534, although different map references display slightly different rounded or marker coordinates.
  • Activating it reveals the surrounding Depths map, creates a fast-travel point and heals gloom-damaged hearts while Link stands beneath its light.
  • The surface route leads through Tarm Point Cave to Yomizuk Shrine, a Rauru’s Blessing shrine. The shrine itself is separate from the Lightroot and should not be treated as part of the underground location.
  • There is no verified shop, named resident, quest giver, settlement or unique boss attached specifically to Kuzimoy Lightroot.

About this guide

Spoiler warning: This guide discusses the Depths, the surface shrine paired with Kuzimoy Lightroot, and the rewards and mechanics associated with activating Lightroots.

Overview

Kuzimoy Lightroot is a Lightroot in the Lanayru Great Spring Depths in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It is the Depths counterpart of Yomizuk Shrine, which lies on the surface inside Tarm Point Cave, north of Tarm Point in the Lanayru Great Spring region.

Unlike a large Depths complex such as the Abandoned Lanayru Mine, Kuzimoy Lightroot is a small, self-contained location rather than a settlement, dungeon or named underground subregion with a large directory of characters and services. Its main purposes are to illuminate part of the map, provide a fast-travel point and restore hearts damaged by gloom.

The Lightroot is particularly useful when exploring the eastern side of the Lanayru Great Spring Depths, where the surface terrain is dominated by steep cliffs, waterfalls, caves and the water around the East Necluda and Lanayru areas. Reaching it from the surface is not as simple as dropping through a nearby chasm, so players often find the surface shrine first and then use the surface-to-Depths relationship to locate its underground counterpart.

Location and boundaries

Kuzimoy Lightroot belongs to the Lanayru Great Spring Depths, not to the surface’s Tarm Point Cave. The two locations are connected conceptually through the game’s shrine and Lightroot layout, but they are in different world layers and have different access routes.

The Lightroot is a single activation point surrounded by the ordinary terrain of the Depths. It should not be expanded into the whole Lanayru Great Spring underground region. Nearby mines, enemy camps, caves, chasms and other Lightroots are separate locations unless a map or in-game name explicitly identifies them as part of Kuzimoy Lightroot.

What Kuzimoy Lightroot does

Lightroots are the main fixed facilities of the Depths. Before activation, the surrounding area is covered by darkness on the Depths map. When Link examines the Lightroot, it illuminates the immediate region and records the corresponding map data.

Lightroots are also associated with surface Shrines of Light. Their names are reverse spellings of their paired shrines. In this case:

This relationship is useful when one layer has been explored but the other has not. A completed surface shrine can point towards an unactivated Depths Lightroot, and an activated Lightroot can help identify the corresponding shrine on the surface.

Lightroots also have three practical benefits

  1. 01
Map revelation Activating Kuzimoy Lightroot fills in the surrounding part of the Depths map.

What Kuzimoy Lightroot does: steps

  1. 01
Fast travel Once activated, it becomes a travel point that Link can select from the map.

What Kuzimoy Lightroot does: steps

  1. 01
Gloom recovery Standing beneath an activated Lightroot restores hearts damaged by gloom. This is a recovery effect, not a replacement for ordinary healing items or meals.

Access routes

Route from the surface

The most reliable surface landmark is Tarm Point Cave, which contains Yomizuk Shrine. The cave is north of Tarm Point in the Lanayru Great Spring region. The shrine is positioned at the far end of the cave, beyond its water-filled passage.

The cave approach is more relevant to reaching Yomizuk Shrine than to directly entering the Depths. The shrine and Lightroot are corresponding locations, not two rooms in one continuous passage.

Route from the Depths

If the Depths map around Lanayru Great Spring is already partly illuminated, the simplest method is to travel to another activated Lightroot in the region and approach Kuzimoy Lightroot across the underground terrain.

The Depths contain cliffs, gloom pools and vertical terrain that can make a straight-line approach impractical. A route that looks short on the map may require climbing, gliding or travelling around an impassable wall.

Route from the surface: A practical route is

  1. 01
Travel to the Lanayru Great Spring surface region.
  2. 02
Locate Tarm Point and search for the entrance to Tarm Point Cave.
  3. 03
Enter the cave and prepare for a water crossing.
  4. 04
Follow the cave towards Yomizuk Shrine.
  5. 05
Complete or enter the shrine, then leave the shrine and use the surface map to compare its position with the Depths map.
  6. 06
Identify Kuzimoy Lightroot directly below the shrine’s position.
  7. 07
Use a nearby chasm or an existing Depths fast-travel point to approach the Lightroot from underground.

Route from the Depths: If the surrounding map is still dark

  1. 01
Enter the Depths through a suitable nearby chasm.
  2. 02
Use Brightbloom Seeds or another light source to identify the terrain.
  3. 03
Keep the surface map open when necessary and compare the Lightroot’s position with Yomizuk Shrine.
  4. 04
Avoid assuming that the nearest visible surface shrine, cave or water feature has a direct vertical entrance.
  5. 05
Follow the map marker until the Lightroot’s glow becomes visible.
  6. 06
Activate Kuzimoy Lightroot as soon as it is reached.

Yomizuk Shrine connection

Yomizuk Shrine is the surface counterpart of Kuzimoy Lightroot. It is found inside Tarm Point Cave and is identified as a Rauru’s Blessing shrine. Rauru’s Blessing shrines do not contain a conventional shrine puzzle. Instead, the challenge is usually the route to the shrine’s entrance.

Inside Yomizuk Shrine, the principal reward is the shrine chest and a Light of Blessing. The available sources confirm the shrine’s location and Rauru’s Blessing classification, but the exact chest item should be checked against an item-specific shrine guide before being added to a definitive inventory. Do not treat the shrine’s chest as a Kuzimoy Lightroot reward: it belongs to Yomizuk Shrine.

Surface and Depths distinction

This distinction matters when tracking completion. Activating the Lightroot does not complete Yomizuk Shrine, and completing Yomizuk Shrine does not automatically activate Kuzimoy Lightroot.

Exploration and navigation tips

Use the shrine-Lightroot pairing

If Yomizuk Shrine is visible on the surface map but Kuzimoy Lightroot is missing from the Depths map, use the shrine’s position as a guide. Conversely, if Kuzimoy Lightroot is activated but the shrine remains incomplete, switch to the surface map and look for the corresponding location.

Bring light sources

The immediate area around an unactivated Lightroot may be completely dark. Bring:

These are general Depths preparations rather than unique requirements for Kuzimoy Lightroot.

Avoid overcommitting to a vertical route

The correspondence between a shrine and a Lightroot does not guarantee a direct hole between them. The surface shrine is in a cave, while the Lightroot is a separate location in the Depths. If the area directly below the shrine is blocked, use the nearest chasm or approach from another activated Lightroot.

Activate the root before continuing

Even if the destination is already visible, activating Kuzimoy Lightroot immediately is usually worthwhile. It provides a permanent fast-travel point and makes later exploration of the surrounding Lanayru Depths much easier.

Items and rewards

Fixed rewards

The verified fixed benefits of Kuzimoy Lightroot are:

The general Lightroot directory also records the Dispelling Darkness Medal as a reward for activating all Lightroots, not as an individual Kuzimoy Lightroot reward. It should therefore not be listed as a local chest or one-time item found at Kuzimoy.

Surface shrine rewards

The shrine’s reward belongs to Yomizuk Shrine rather than Kuzimoy Lightroot. The exact chest contents are not included here because the supplied evidence does not establish them consistently enough for a definitive item directory.

Enemies, hazards and secrets

No unique enemy, boss, named faction, named resident, shop, quest giver or mission-only facility has been verified as belonging specifically to Kuzimoy Lightroot.

The main hazards are the ordinary hazards of Depths travel:

Because the Lightroot is a compact facility rather than a large dungeon, there is no confirmed dedicated boss arena, puzzle sequence or unique secret inside the Lightroot itself.
